That’s why the cable network announced on Wednesday that they will push forward with scripted comedy and are developing around a half-dozen new shows.

Among these potential hits is Random Acts, an adaptation of Andrea Abbate’s play about thirty-something girlfriends Katie and Lisa – who make their living as contract killers. Abbate will write and executive produce the single-camera comedy, which could be on the air as early as 2015. Further, executive producers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg (Superbad) are helming Sober Buddies, about a pro surfer turned sober coach who has to deal with own problems as he goes off the wagon.

Meanwhile, AMC greenlit its first series pilot, the intriguing We Hate Paul Revere.

I’m not exactly sure what I’m selling here. At first I thought No Pay, Nudity was a documentary about actors. I thought Laurie Metcalf, Nathan Lane, Ted Levine and others were appearing to talk about the positives and negatives of their profession. I hear the scripts that made it to this year’s event include dramas Raiders, from writer Evan Wright (Generation Kill) and Scott Free; and Line Of Sight, from Brotherhood creator Blake Masters and Fox TV Studios; and comedy We Hate Paul Revere, from writer-actors Ethan Sandler and Adrian Wenner (Whitney). Raiders, exec produced by Wright, Ridley Scott and David Zucker, takes place during World War II.

AMC has scooped up a lot of new shows since its dawn into our modern lives with Mad Men and Breaking Bad. Most acquisitions, perhaps excluding the now mega-huge Walking Dead, have been decisively unsurprising head-nodders — an old-timey show about trains; a series about a (one; 1) killing; something set in the eighties and another thing in the 1770s; a pair of murder mysteries; an Area 51 project; a legal thriller; another period drama, albeit interestingly about a Native American college football team. Now, at last, an honest-to-goodness eyebrow-raiser: "AMC is heading to Colonial Boston for a comedy project, now in development. Titled We Hate Paul Revere, it is written and executive produced by writer-actors Ethan Sandler and Adrian Wenner (Whitney). Axelle/Bauer-Griffin It’s a girl for former Crossing Jordan star Kathryn Hahn and husband Ethan Sandler! After two difficult days of labor, the 35-year-old actress welcomed daughter Mae on Monday, July 27th. Baby girl — who was not due until September — weighed in at 5 lbs., and both mother and daughter are reportedly doing well.

Originally, RadarOnline reported that the early arrival temporarily halted production on the upcoming Reese Witherspoon/Jack Nicholson film How Do You Know, as Kathryn — cast as a pregnant secretary — was on set when her water broke Saturday. The magazine now reports, however, that the actress had just one day of filming left and will complete her role once she is able.

Stephen Dorff and Chris Pontius (Jackass) aren't the only men gearing up for Sofia Coppola's upcoming film Somewhere. It turns out the rumors are true -- Movieline has confirmed that Benicio del Toro will be making an appearance. Unfortunately, it's only brief. He'll play someone Dorff has a run-in with at the Chateau Marmont (where Dorff's character is holed up). This is fitting, as the site points out, since that's where he had that rumored sexy run-in with Scarlett Johansson. Will they meet in an elevator?

Meanwhile, funny woman Kathryn Hahn, who you surely remember from films like Anchorman and Step Brothers, has scored two new gigs -- one on the big screen, and one on TV. The Hollywood Reporter posts that she has grabbed a part in James Brooks' untitled baseball comedy, and is also developing a pilot with husband Ethan Sandler that she will potentially star in.

Comedic actress Kathryn Hahn has landed a role in James Brooks' untitled comedy at Columbia.

The actress, along with husband Ethan Sandler, also will develop a pilot script at Sony Pictures Television, with Sandler writing as a potential starring vehicle for Hahn.

In the Brooks comedy, she'll play the assistant to Paul Rudd's lead role. The TV script, whose logline is being kept under wraps, will be a half-hour comedy.

The Gersh-repped Hahn has had character turns in a series of comedies, particularty those toplined by Will Ferrell: She co-starred in "Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy" and "Step Brothers" and has a role in upcoming Ferrell used-car comedy "Live Hard, Sell Hard."...
