The man who oversaw the relaunch of ITV’s streaming service will lead Scotland’s Stv as CEO.
Rufus Radcliffe has been appointed to succeed Simon Pitts, who was named Chief Executive at British media firm Global earlier this year. Pitts exits on October 31 and Radcliffe will become Stv Group boss a day later.
Radcliffe exited ITV, where he was a member of the UK commercial network’s Executive Committee, in April after 13 years. He has most recently been Managing Director of Streaming, Interactive and Data, playing a major role in ITV’s shift from linear broadcasting to digital, in particular overseeing the launch of streamer Itvx. Stv boss Simon Pitts is exiting the business after six years.
Pitts has led the Scottish broadcaster-producer since 2018, during what has been a tricky period beset by the Covid-19 pandemic and ad recession. He has, nonetheless, delivered growth and seen a boost in production arm Stv Studios, which is now making big budget shows such as Apple TV+’s Criminal Record.
He will take up a new role in a year’s time and remain with the Scottish outfit until then while the board appoints a successor.
“Simon has been an outstanding leader of Stv over the past six years,” said Chairman Paul Reynolds. “As the architect of our diversification strategy, he has successfully led the transformation of Stv from a linear broadcaster into a resilient content creation and digital streaming business with an exciting future.”
Pitts added: “With Stv’s latest diversification targets fully achieved, now is the right...

Dubai, July 27 (Ians) Ireland’s women team has been fined 10 per cent of their match fee for maintaining a slow over-rate against Australia in the second match of their Icc Women’s Championship series in Dublin on Tuesday.
Ireland lost the match by 153 runs.
Philip Thompson of the Icc International Panel of Match Referees imposed the sanction after Ireland were ruled to be two overs short of the target after time allowances were taken into consideration.
In accordance with Article 2.22 of the Icc Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to minimum over-rate offences, players are fined five per cent of their match fee for every over if their side fails to bowl in the allotted time.
Captain Laura Delany pled guilty to the offence and accepted the proposed sanction, so there was no need for a formal hearing.

Edinburgh, July 27 (Ians) Ireland have sealed their qualification for the 2024 Men’s Icc T20 World Cup, to be held in West Indies and USA, after their game against Germany was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to rain in the ongoing European Regional Final Qualifiers tournament.
Having won their previous four matches, against Italy, Denmark, Austria, and Jersey, Ireland needed just one more point to mathematically ensure qualification for next year’s mega event. Due to their match against Germany being abandoned, the points were shared, and as a result, Ireland’s passage to the Men’s T20 World Cup was secured.
“While it’s true that we’d rather have achieved qualification on the field today, we’re delighted to have achieved our primary objective of qualifying for next year’s T20 World Cup. We came to Scotland with a clear plan and style of play we wanted to implement,...

Craig Fairbrass ('Dead Cert'), Jason Maza ('Demons Never Die'), Craig Conway ('Devil's Playground') and Sean Pertwee ('Dog Soldiers') are the fresh faced foursome to new British zombie horror 'Tower of the Dead'. The quartet, who these days between them seem to be placed in every mediocre British horror offering or gangster based project there is going, will be bought together to play members of an Armed Response Team and/or a group of arms dealers who find theirselves teaming up when some begrudged zombie fellas take over a tower block. Sound familiar, then you're likely thinking this sounds very much like 2009's French horror feature 'The Horde'! Brit director Ross Boyask ('Left for Dead') will helm from a script he co-wrote with Paul Reynolds....
