While it doesn.t have a lot of thrills, Dark Tide does manage to capture some tension thanks to incredible underwater sequences that show the divers playing with some very large sharks. Unfortunately, the film suffers from a dragging pace and lack of chemistry between its cast. Directed by John Stockwell (who brought us the underwater thriller Into the Blue) and written by Ronnie Christensen and Amy Sorlie, the film stars Halle Berry, Olivier Martinez, Ralph Brown, Mark Elderkin, Luke Tyler, Thoko Ntshinga, and Sizwe Msutu. The film opens with .shark whisperer. Kate Mathieson (Berry) shooting a documentary with her husband Jeff (Martinez) off the coast of South Africa. Kate is one of the only shark experts in the...

The first clip has surfaced (and quickly sinks) from Wrekin Hill Entertainment and Lionsgate's Dark Tide, their shark thriller from Turistas director John Stockwell. The clip is extremely weak even by weak standards. But I digress, there are two real reasons why we're all going to watch this and they can be thoroughly enjoyed after the break (and below the clip). When you're done enlarging them (this article is wrong on so many levels), click the above new image for the entire hi-res gallery that was just uploaded. The flick leads off with a three-week Ultra VOD window on March 8th with a theatrical release on March 30th, culminating in a packaged media and Digital Download release, the Halle Berry thriller will head to home video on April 8. Dark Tide also stars Ralph Brown, Adi Shankar, Luke Stein, Mark Elderkin, Thoko Ntshinga and Sizwe Msutu.

For those let down by the poor new one-sheet from John Stockwell's new shark-related thriller 'Dark Tide', revealed earlier this week, they can hopefully take some solace in the fact that the newly revealed trailer has arrived. The one-sheet which you can check out below, may have just slipped beyond the 'terrible' label and into 'acceptable' thanks to its inclusion of Halle Berry in a bikini. Joining Berry for the sea-faring thrills are Olivier Martinez, Ralph Brown, Adi Shankar, Luke Tyler, Thoko Ntshinga, Sizwe Msutu and Mark Elderkin. So hold your breathe for the new shark thriller which promises no fake shark action and check out the new trailer below for more bikini action....

Dark Tide has a new poster that just makes me less interested in seeing this shark film than ever before. It appears they are going for a surfer flick vibe than a horror thriller that I would want to watch. The second poster seemed a lot more creepy to me. Dark Tide found distribution through Lionsgate. The horror film will be available on March 8, 2012 via VOD and will make a limited theatrical release on March 30, 2012. Horror fans will no doubt recognize the name of director John Stockwell from his most famous turn in 1983′s Christine, in which he played good guy Dennis. In the intervening years, Stockwell has done all right for himself behind the camera, helming Crazy/Beautiful in 2001, Blue Crush in 2002, and Turiastas in 2006, and while he may be most remembered for facing down a menacing growling Plymouth Fury, in Dark Tide, coming out later this year from Lionsgate, he is taking on evil of the aquatic kind.
Dark Tide stars Halle Berry, Oliver Martinez, Ralph Brown, Luke Tyler, Mark Elderkin, and Thoko Ntshinga. The story is from Ronnie Christensen and Amy Sorlie.

This is one of the only shark movies (see the Bait movie trailer) that seems to try and the approach the genre differently. The sharks aren’t coming to people to kill and destroy, the people are invading their territory for study and recreation.

The sales trailer being used to find distro has leaked online, and explains a lot - especially considering how bland the footage is even though they've tailored in some intense editing and serious audio stings. At least Bait 3D looks hilariously bad. I think Shark Night 3D looks the best of the deep sea trilogy...
