Michael McKell

Michael McKell was born in Bethnal Green London and in the 1980s he was a prolific singer,song-writer and recording artist. However, in 1991 he was involved in a near-fatal car crash which proved to be the catalyst for a career change. He studied acting for three years at the Lee Strasberg Institute and began on stage producing and starring in Macbeth at the Lyric Hammersmith. He made his West End debut in the musical Blood Brothers. After years of television supporting roles as villains, since the mid-2000s he has been a leading player in police series Murder Investigation Team two seasons, Blessed by Ben Elton and as one of the titular Doctors in the weekday afternoon soap for which he won the Royal National TV Society award for Best Actor.In 2023 he released the album The Last Picture Show.Michael is father to Claudia Grace, Louis and Joey Valentine.
