It is unbelievable how many genre mistakes sneak up to IMDb. It says horror for this crap. From a title, it was obvious to me that it is an erotic movie, but I was curious how they managed to combine erotic and horror into one movie. The answer is - they did not! This is plain soft porn and kind that will disappoint both fans of horror and fans of porn. Complete failure.
3/10 - DirectorArmen OganezovStarsValeria NemchenkoMarina ZasimovaVladimir SorokinThe events of the controversial novel "Lolita" by Vladimir Nabokov pick up in modern day Russia.Nabokov is turning in his grave!
This is blasphemy to the great novel and one of the very worst movies I have ever seen. There is too little plot and too much sex for a mainstream movie, but too little sex and too much talking for a porn. The story is at average porn level, sex is lousy, and directing, acting and camera are terrible. The movie has no quality at all. On the one hand, there is no artistic quality, and on the other, you cannot even jerk off while watching it. Throughout the whole thing, I was thinking about Nabokov turning in his grave, but after the last scene, I think I died and started to turn in my own. I would give it a zero if it was possible, but unfortunately, I have to satisfy with

Gaspar Noe is a legend. He succeeded to make a porn movie and show it at the Cannes festival. Good story, has its depth and touches the essence, great camera, directing, actors and a sickly good soundtrack. But in the end, it's still porn. Love porn. I love it.

I have nothing against explicit sex in movies when it has a function to make the story stronger and leave a deeper impression. Of course, I like good porn too. But when a movie that is not porn is based on two hours of sex and nudity while there's no relevant story, that is simply a crappy movie. Neither it tells a good story, nor shows good sex. I want my two hours back.

A documentary showing the history of sexploitation genre, since its inception in the 1920s until it was suppressed by explicit pornography in the 1970s. Over two hours of inserts from almost every significant genre representative, followed by the comments of the legendary David Friedman, directed by the wacky Henenlotter. Not particularly high-quality, but extremely interesting movie.
7/10 - DirectorPaul Thomas AndersonStarsMark WahlbergJulianne MooreBurt ReynoldsBack when sex was safe, pleasure was a business and business was booming, an idealistic porn producer aspires to elevate his craft to an art when he discovers a hot young talent. At the end of 70's, porn director, who dreams of making porn and "real" movie fusion as his life masterpiece, meets extremely endowed young man, and there starts the story of the rise, culmination and downfall of the great porn star. This drama which, without prejudice and attitude, impartially tells about 70's porn industry, at the very transition from a theaters to video tapes, I watched primarily because of fantastic cast. Burt Reynolds, Julianne Moore, John C. Reilly, Heather Graham, William H. Macy, William H. Macy and three Academy Awards nominations grant at least that it's not a bad movie. Screenplay is pretty much cliche story about rise and fall of any star in showbusiness, but acting and characterization are really good and make us bind to the characters real easy. Also, beautiful (and naked) women and good music are always welcome bonus. But this potential masterpiece is flawed by its length. It is good, but not good enough to hold undivided attention for two and a half hours. Somewhere about half it's began to loosen its grip and, I can not say I was bored, but it simply lost me. Still, it's cast is reason enough to recommend it anyway.

As the cameras roll, however, the duo begin to sense that they may have more feelings for each other than they previously thought.I don't know how objective I'm capable to be when it comes to Kevin Smith movies, but to me this was awesome. Essentially, this is classic romance comedy, but wrapped in completely unusual package. Politically incorrect, vulgar, perverse, and most of all fun. I'm sorry I didn't see it back when it was released, cause I would know it by heart by now. Roommates and best friends since childhood, Zack and Miri, have seemingly hopeless financial troubles, so they decide to get back on their feet by making a porno. If I still didn't persuade you to see this flick, I will just say that lead roles in their porno, beside of course themselves, play Jason Mewes, Katie Morgan and Traci Lords. Now, if you have no idea who are at least some of the legends I mentioned above, then you shouldn't watch this movie and feel free to continue living under your puritan rock. :P

This is artistic flick so, as expected, it has nice camera and atmosphere and everything else is bad. Poor attempt of plot is contributed by dull acting, lousy music and idle scenes. The only thing worth something in this movie are Soledad Miranda's scenes, especially her stage performances and lesbian scenes with Ewa Stromberg. In those scenes camera, directing, colors and sexual charge of this "club 27" member achieve a somewhat hypnotizing effect which makes us forget, even just for a moment, how trashy this movie really is.

Some actresses are able to somewhat save some bad movies with their mesmerizing beauty, but this lesbian soft-porn, clumsily masked as horror about Dracula, is so bad that it couldn't be saved even by sex scene between Jessica Alba and Charlize Theron. I could get over the fact that vampires in the movie don't have any issues with daylight, but if somebody told me that a scene in which camera slides down the naked body of a beautiful woman could be boring I would think he's crazy. If you are a fan of horror, Dracula or good soft-porn, avoid this misery in a wide arc, but if you want to watch five minutes of to blur zoomed tongue and a nipple this is the right movie for you.

These seven sexually oriented stories are based on original and interesting ideas, but the realization of the film is bad in every way. Cheap production, poorly written script and unnatural and forced humor leave an insipid taste in your mouth. The second story, about a man in love with a sheep, and the seventh, which represents a human organism as a machine operated by a large crew faced with a sex opportunity, in my opinion, deserve eight and seven out of ten. Although the ideas on which other stories are based also have a lot of potential, these ideas are wasted on a rather stupid film.

"Heavy Metal 2000" is a worthy successor to 1981's "Heavy Metal". Made in the style of the original, it has a strong reminiscent of the eighties. Unlike the first one that is an omnibus, this one has only one story, but the story and characters at the level of the first movie. There is a bit less nudity and violence, and the soundtrack, although weaker than the one from the '80s, has several really good tracks, performed by the great names of its time. Those who loved the first should likewise love this one.
7/10 - DirectorPaul MorrisseyStarsJoe DallesandroUdo KierVittorio De SicaAn ailing vampire count travels to Italy with his servant to find a bride.Almost unwatchable, but worth watching
I think Andy Warhol had nothing to do with "Blood for Dracula" aka "Andy Warhol's Dracula" except for allowing it to use his name. This mildly politicized erotic horror comedy has a pretty good story and pleasant music, but everything else is very bad. One could eventually get used to bad acting, but the acting and especially pronunciation of the English language of the vast majority of actors are at the level of low-budget porn and so painful to ears that it makes the film almost unwatchable. During the first half an hour, I was on the verge of giving up, but later the story became more and more interesting and even brought a few really exquisite moments. The scenes where Dracula gets sick from drinking blood of the sluts, as well as the scene in which he lies on the floor licking the blood virgin lost during her first sexual intercourse, in my opinion, belong near the top of the trash cinema, and only because of those scenes and the way Udo Kier performed them I won't rate this movie 1/10.

I ran into this while watching movies from the list of the most controversial films of all time. Since it is a porno movie I almost skipped it, but when I read what it was about I could not resist. This porn has a story. Not a sorry excuse for a story, but it comes with a real plot based on sex which is explicitly shown. The premise is hilarious and it can rightly be said that this is a porn comedy. A woman who cannot get an orgasm comes to the doctor for help. This seems to be nothing unusual, but when you find out the cause of this problem is that the clitoris is located... Watch the movie. It is so stupid that it turned the game and became a cult masterpiece of the genre.
5/10 - DirectorLars von TrierStarsCharlotte GainsbourgStellan SkarsgårdStacy MartinA self-diagnosed nymphomaniac recounts her erotic experiences to the man who saved her after a beating.Nymphomaniac (2013)
[Director's Cut]
"When we are, death has not come. When death has come, we are not."
"Nymphomaniac" is the final part of Lars von Trier's "Trilogy of Depression", after the "Antichrist" (2009), which was to me inexplicably dull and unjustified morbid, and "Melancholy" (2011), which I have not yet come to see. Originally, "Nymphomaniac" was conceived as a single film but, due to its inhumane length, in the theatrical release, it was divided into two two-hour films. I am watching the director's cut, which lasts five and a half hours.
The first film begins with a scene in which an older man encounters a beaten woman lying on the street. After she refuses an ambulance and the police, he takes her to his apartment and places her in bed. Then he sits down next to her and she tells him her whole life, the life of a nymphomaniac. Occasionally he interrupts her with interesting comments on various topics, such as philosophy, nature, music, literature, mathematics and even fishing, but all these digressions are directly or metaphorically related to the main subject of the film and represent life philosophies that will lead you to thinking and self-analysis, especially if in some of them you recognize yourself.
The film is full of explicit pornography, but this time it is not there just to shock and cause controversy, but it greatly enhances the artistic power of film and contributes to the credibility and the dramatic nature of the story. The sex scenes are not simulated, they are genuine pornography, but they were shot by porn actors and subsequently edited together with the bodies of the main actors. The film is fantastically shot and directed, and drama and pornographic scenes alternate in perfect harmony. The atmosphere is hypnotically dark and depressing, additionally empowered with an interesting selection of music, which ranges from industrial metal band Rammstein, through rock classics, to Bach's organ compositions. Although the movie is very slow and long, my attention has not been weakened for a moment.
In all three films of the "Trilogy of Depression", Charlotte Gainsbourg plays the main role, but as the first part of the "Nymphomaniac" takes us through her childhood and girlhood, in the main role we see Stacy Martin, who, although not particularly beautiful, is extremely cute and sexual, and in every way a sight for sore eyes in comparison with Charlotte. Charlotte's rescuer is played by Stellan Skarsgård, who appears in a total of seven von Trier's films. There is also Christian Slater in the role of Nymphomaniac's father, as well as Uma Thurman, who gave perhaps the best performance in her career. Stacy, Charlotte, and Stellan topped their roles, but in her relatively short scene, Uma Thurman completely overshadowed them. Her scene is totally over the top, but still somehow realistic and believable. This somewhat relates to the film in its entirety, but Uma's scene is one of the most powerful I've ever seen. Ruthlessly awkward, strongly emotional and definitely unforgettable. Uma deserved an Oscar big as the Statue of Liberty.
There's still three hours of the second movie left for me to make a final judgment, but for now, this is a pure ten.
Seligman: "Well, I divide humanity into two groups: the people who cut the nails on the left hand first, and the people who cut the nails of the right hand first. My theory is that the people who cut the nails of the left hand first they're more light-hearted. They have a tendency to enjoy life more, because they go straight for the easiest task, and save the difficulties for later. So, what do you do?"
Joe: "Always the left hand first. I don't think there's a choice. Go for the pleasure first, always. And then when you've done the left hand, only the right hand remains. That's the easiest one left."
Seligman: "I never thought of it like that. Well, you're never too old. Never too old to learn."
10/10 - DirectorLars von TrierStarsCharlotte GainsbourgStellan SkarsgårdWillem DafoeThe continuation of Joe's sexually dictated life delves into the darker aspects of her adulthood, obsessions and what led to her being in Seligman's care."The human qualities can be expressed in one word: hypocrisy."
In the second film, Charlotte Gainsbourg takes on the lead role from Stacy Martin. These two actresses, both in appearance and in spirit, are so different that it was impossible for me to see them as the same person, which completely breaks down the continuity of the story. I literally had the impression that I was watching another film, about another woman, on a similar topic. And in addition, the protagonist of the first film, despite everything, was quite likable, while I felt repulsive and disgusted towards a disturbed masochist from the second part. Trier returns to his recognizable style of shooting scenes with the sole purpose of upsetting your stomach. No one will convince me that an explicit and extremely detailed view of a woman who performs an abortion on herself in any way contributes to a better understanding of the story or a stronger dramatic effect. It's simply there to shock you, upset you and maybe even make some of you give up on further watching. Controversy for controversy sake, which, in my opinion, is a feature of the egomaniac who must at all costs be at the center of attention. The story becomes more morbid, crueler and much darker, and technically too stretched, less convincing and more boring. Seligman's digressions got weaker and the overall impression was that actors too share my experience of the film and that they are already bored, and now they are only getting to the end.
Although it is single five-hour film, subjectively I experienced it as two films, of which the first is a masterpiece of drama, while the second is a weaker sequel that vainly tries to mimic the greatness of the first one. And yet, when my impressions settled, all the flaws of the film can not diminish their strength. If I ignore the parts inserted just for the sake of shock and controversy, what remains is one of the most powerful dramas I've ever seen in my life, and to which I simply can not give anything less than the highest rating.
Seligman: "You shouldn't use that word. It's not what you call politically correct."
Joe: "Well, excuse me, but in my circles, it's always been a mark of honor to call a spade a spade. Each time a word becomes prohibited, you remove a stone from the democratic foundation. Society demonstrates its impotence in the face of a concrete problem by removing words from the language. The book burners have nothing on modern society."
Seligman: "I think society would claim that political correctness is a very precise expression of democratic concern for minorities."
Joe: "And I say that society is as cowardly as the people in it, who, in my opinion, are also too stupid for democracy."
Seligman: "I understand your point, but I totally disagree. I have no doubt in the human qualities."
Joe: "The human qualities can be expressed in one word: hypocrisy. We elevate those who say right but mean wrong and mock those who say wrong but mean right."

Bernardo Bertolucci has always been one of my favorite directors, but with this film, he bought me for all time. "The Dreamers" is a film that I saw many times and I've never found the strength nor found the right words to describe and analyze it. This is an example of movie magic, and magic cannot be explained. Or maybe I do not want to try, fearing that by analyzing I could spoil my love for this movie. A strong story, perfect atmosphere, great music and a very good feeling for details. "The Dreamers" is full of references to many famous movies and, as my movie experience grows with years, every time I watch it the experience is getting stronger. Eva Green is fantastic and it's hard to believe that this is her first movie role. I'd be lying if I said that her nudity and sex scenes had no influence, but mostly I was fascinated by her overall appearance and a powerful presence on the screen, and this fascination holds me for fifteen years. The first cadre of the scene where she mimics Venus de Milo is one of the most beautiful erotic photographs I have ever seen.

I have encountered this film on some list of the most controversial films of all time. It was one of the few I haven't already seen, so I decided to correct this oversight. It turned out that I didn't miss much. The author of this film is not nearly intelligent, deep and interesting as she thinks she is, and the film completely misses its goal, if I understood it well, and I think I did. Nudity and pornography are anything but erotic, the philosophical aspect is superficial, banalized and prone to generalization, and the film is not shocking but quite boring. It is not unwatchable, but it is largely irritating and total waste of time.

Henry & June is a biographical erotic drama about Henry Miller, writer of the cult "Tropic of Cancer", and his wife, June, from the pen of his mistress Anaïs Nin. "Tropic of Cancer" is gathering dust on my bookshelf for decades, but after watching this movie I had to read it.
Frankly, halfway through the book, I was on the verge of giving up reading, but the movie is good. Especially the performances of Fred Ward, Uma Thurman and Maria de Medeiros. And to spice things up, there is also brilliant Kevin Spacey.
7/10 - DirectorCatherine BreillatStarsCharlotte AlexandraHiram KellerRita MaidenReluctantly, a sulky adolescent returns to her parents' house for yet another boring summer vacation, dabbling in desire and the art of desirability, eventually mixing reality with vision, caged fantasies with the fierce female sexuality."A surreal voyage into adolescent sexuality"
"A Real Young Girl" is the directing debut of French writer, screenwriter and director Catherine Breillat, known for her controversial erotic films that border with pornography, in which she signs the source novel and the script and directing. The film is extremely slow, but it is necessary for building the desired atmosphere. In the beginning, you will probably be bored, but I think the author does it deliberately, so that we can identify with how the protagonist of the story feels, a teenage girl who returns from the boarding school to a parental home for a summer break. Charlotte Alexandra plays a girl in the age when hormones drive her nuts and she has no idea what to do with herself. We've all been through this stage of growing up, but this movie stretches it to extremes. Teenagers often have strange fantasies, and a healthy dose of perversion is nothing new, but this movie is sick dirty. I have the impression that many scenes have been inserted only to disgust and shock the audience without, in any way, contributing to the story or the artistic value of the film. Or the author simply used this to work out her own morbid perversions that she could not achieve in reality. On the one hand, I was impressed by the performance and appearance of the young Charlotte, as well as the excellent characterization of her character, while on the other hand, the story is quite boring and at times repulsive. A movie like this could have been made only in the seventies.
6/10 - DirectorGyörgy PálfiStarsIsabelle AdjaniAnouk AiméeWoody AllenA simple yet timeless love story between a man and a woman, told using scenes edited together from hundreds of other films."Umro je drug Tito"
One of the most original films I've ever seen is composed entirely of scenes stolen from other films. Hungarian director György Pálfi has made a universal romantic drama, skillfully and humorously combining clips from several hundred films, so black and white and color scenes, different genres and shooting techniques, actors, locations and epochs, rapidly alternate before our eyes, all followed by nicely blended music, also borrowed from other films and series. Clips were reportedly downloaded from torrent sites and, in order to avoid copyright lawsuits, the film was published as educational material by the Hungarian University of Film and Theater. It may seem confusing and even unwatchable at first, but do not let it deter you, because you will get used to it very quickly and after a few minutes you will no longer need extra concentration. The idea is ingenious, a realization hypnotizing, and I am afraid to even speculate how extensive his knowledge of world cinema is, as well as how much time and patience it took to assemble and edit this madness. Even if we disregard all the other qualities, the effort itself deserves a maximum rating. Bravo!

"Critical and commercial disaster."
"Worthless fantasy trash."
The film is full of explicit sex but it does not make it pornography. Pornography has completely different intentions. Definition of pornography is: "Pornography is the portrayal of sexual subject matter for the purpose of sexual arousal", and this movie simply isn't it. It was meant to shock, not to sexually arouse. The story is a historical drama presented in a vulgar and shocking way with explicit sex and violence. But it definitely isn't pornography.
Worthless trash?! I suppose it is a question of taste. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It twists actual historical facts, but it is a movie, not the history textbook. And parody on "Alea iacta est!" is so funny. For me, this is a really good movie, at least
8/10 - DirectorPier Paolo PasoliniStarsHugh GriffithLaura BettiNinetto DavoliPasolini's artistic, sometimes violent, always vividly cinematic retelling of some of Chaucer's most erotic tales."Hey, Satan! Lift up your tail and show us where you keep the friars in hell!"
"Salò o le 120 giornate di Sodoma", the last film by Italian director Pier Paolo Pasolini, inspired by Marquis de Sade, intrigued me to explore the rest of his filmography. For some time now, I have been planning to watch his "Trilogy of Life", which consists of medieval literature adaptations - Giovanni Boccaccio's "Decameron", Geoffrey Chaucer's book of short stories "The Canterbury Tales" and "A Thousand and One Nights". I intended to watch them in order, but a few days ago the opportunity appeared for me to see "The Canterbury Tales" on the big screen, so I suppressed my OCD and went to the theater.
Geoffrey Chaucer (1343-1400) is one of the most important medieval English poets, who contributed to the introduction of Middle English in literature, when the dominant literary languages in England were still French and Latin. His most famous work are 24 stories, mostly in verse, inspired by "Decameron", but, unlike Boccaccio's, Chaucer's characters are not nobles, but people from different layers of society. In "The Canterbury Tales", a group of pilgrims travel from London to Cathedral in Canterbury and, in order to pass the time, tell erotic stories along the way.
It is impossible to pack Chaucer's entire work into a two-hour film, so Pasolini threw out the pilgrims and concentrated on their stories, of which he showed a selected eight. The stories are quite true to Chaucer (although there are some original scenes by Pasolini), but presented in a recognizable Pasolini's style.
Explicit nudity and sex are combined with the resourcefulness of the common folk and slapstick humor. Satire of church dogma, human lusts, greed and hypocrisy, a little drama, and much more of erotic and black humor, accompanied by the music of the legendary Ennio Morricone, will keep your attention with occasional bursts of laughter. But even though the film is quite entertaining, the flaws left a far stronger impression on me.
A hand-held camera takes us to medieval Italian-style England. This unusual mix, mostly amateur cast and sexual explicitness, which goes well beyond good taste, builds a specific atmosphere that will etch in your memory, whether you like it or not. I did not. I read somewhere that Pasolini used amateurs in his films to make the characters look more natural, but from my perspective, the effect varied from comic to irritating.
What drove me crazy throughout the film was the disastrous editing. The uneven transitions between shots, jumping from one segment to another in a way so abrupt and confusing that you're never sure if it's a transition between two scenes of the same story or between two stories. A couple of times I was confused by unrelated scenes only to realize after a while that the film moved on to the next story, without any hint or pause between them.
The film opens with "The Merchant's Tale", which shows the influence of "Decameron". It is followed by "The Friar's Tale" about corruption, hypocrisy, and a deal with the Devil, and then "The Cook's Tale", which is an obvious homage to Charlie Chaplin. It is interesting to mention that Chaplin's daughter Josephine plays the main role in the first story. I liked the vulgarly comic "The Miller's Tale" and "The Reeve's Tale" the most. The remaining three stories did not leave a special impression, but I must mention the scene with which the last story ends. This surreal, at the same time hilariously wacky and sickly disturbing scene, is one of the most impressive depictions of Hell in the history of film.
The film won the Golden Bear in Berlin and is considered a classic, but although it shares the producer, director of photography, and composer with the genius "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly", to me it seemed amateurish and was irritating in many respects. I'm not sure whether this film for me is a positive or negative experience. I do not regret watching it, but I certainly wouldn't watch it again.
