Joanne Froggatt is a British actress currently starring as Anna, Lady’s Maid to Lady Mary Crawley (Michelle Dockery), in the Emmy nominated PBS series Downton Abbey. She has been nominated for an  Emmy for this role.

Her first on-screen role came when she played a teenage prostitute in the British series The Bill. Before landing her career-changing role in Downton Abbey, Froggatt’s numerous TV roles in her native Britain included Kate in Robin Hood, Ruth in Life on Mars. Angelique Mahy in Island at War and Danielle Cable in Danielle Cable: Eyewitness.

She will star in the Pulitzer Prize winning play Rabbit Hole this fall in London’s West End. The play will be directed by Nigel Harman, who played the dastardly valet who brutally attacked Anna in the fourth season of Downton Abbey.
