Unfortunately there is no time to write a trip report. But since we have made very good experience with our tour organizer and guide(s) I will leave a short note:

My wife and I are heading to Ghana in January 2017 for 3 weeks. We are planning on doing some independent birding amongst other things. Our rough itinerary is to fly from Accra to Tamale, then 4 nights at Mole Motel in the park. Do you have any recommendations for guides or safaris at Mole?

After Mole, we'll take public transport down to Kumasi for a couple of days. While in Kumasi we might spend a few days checking out Owabi wildlife sanctuary and Lake Bosumtwi, before heading...

"Birds of Ghana"--dark plates? Tue, 05 Jan 2016 16:28:41 +0000 https://www.birdforum.net/threads/birds-of-ghana-dark-plates.317436/ 317436 invalid@example.com (Jim M.) Jim M. I recently purchased “Birds of Ghana” by Borrow & Demey (Helm 2010). Seems to be a very good compact guide, but I have noted that some colors on some plates seem to have been printed much too dark. For example, on plate 89 the chestnut cap on the Wire-tailed Swallow is almost black; on plate 115 the brown throat of the female Common Wattle-eye (a.k.a. Brown-throated Wattle-eye) also appears virtually black.

Was wondering if other people's copies of this book also suffer from this problem?]]>

I'll be heading to Ghana in September, and a couple days at Ankasa NP is part of my initial itinerary. I've read a travel report, dating back a few years now, where they camped inside the park, which would be ideal for me, as I'm going independently and backpacker-style. I'm aware that facilities are more or less non-existent there, but as long as the birding is good, that won't concern me too much.
More recent reports seem to indicate, that visiting has become harder, with the road...

Going to Mole NP? Sun, 06 May 2012 11:02:41 +0000 https://www.birdforum.net/threads/going-to-mole-np.226909/ 226909 invalid@example.com (kstrating) kstrating I'm planning to be at Mole NP (Mole Motel) April 28-May2 and am looking for other birders who may want to share costs/logistics, or just compare notes.

Also looking for information regarding Mole, like where to go birding, which are the most knowledgeable rangers, how to get from Tamale to Mole, etc. I will be coming off a 10 day guided trip in southern Ghana, but doing this bit on my own. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks, -K]]>

My partner and I are interested in a 7 day trip to Ghana. Can anyone recommend places to visit/ stay/ local guides at a reasonable price? We have both birded in at least 8 African countries before. Is it easy to hire cars? (At present I can only seem to hire car and driver) Any relevant info would be useful.
Thanks
