The Intercept seeks an experienced, energetic editor with impeccable news judgment to improve our reporting and refine our operations. The ideal candidate has a track record of editing stories with impact, running teams of reporters, and, simply stated, making newsrooms work better.
This editor must be a collaborative and supportive colleague who can help get the best out of everyone they work with. They are a problem-solver who can identify areas of opportunity and places where our operations fall short, then devise the right solution and execute it in a fast-paced newsroom.
It is imperative that they have a track record of overseeing investigations and other sensitive stories, protecting sources, and upholding the highest ethical and editorial standards. They understand and embrace The Intercept’s mission, the unique lens we bring to our coverage, and our commitment to the audiences we serve.
Experience as a commissioning editor with connections to talented freelancers is a plus.
