Sitcom fans may remember Cristin Milioti from How I Met Your Mother. For comic book fans, she is now the Batman villain Sofia Falcone aka the Hangman. However, fans who have followed her career throughout the last decade would agree that her best performance was seen in Fargo. She played the secondary character Betsy Solverson in the second season of the series.

Fans always wondered why she wasn’t nominated for any awards for this role. For fans, Betsy’s intelligence and intuition made her much more than just a secondary character. Several reasons can be listed for why the layered role is perhaps the best in Cristin Milioti’s entire career.

Dunder Mifflin meets “Do you have insurance?” in St. Denis Medical, the latest workplace comedy from exec-producer Justin Spitzer (The Office) and showrunner Eric Ledgin (American Auto). This time, instead of a struggling Scranton paper-sales company or a third-rate car manufacturer, it’s the healthcare industry under the microscope as an unseen camera crew tracks the staff of the titular medical center. “[It’s] in kind of anywhere USA,” says Ledgin, eventually pinpointing the exact locale to small-town Oregon. “There was a nurse [from there] that I spoke to a lot during the research part of the development process, and it was a little bit of a nod to her,” he reveals. In addition, Ledgin confirms that his helpful resource also “kind of inspired” star Allison Tolman’s character, Alex, St. Denis’ put-upon supervising nurse who is both a master of handling high-stakes emergencies and sort of a mess when it comes to advocating for herself.

NBC is giving a new workplace comedy a whirl with St. Denis Medical, a series meant to give us that medical based storytelling we crave with a side of laughter. We'll be taken along for the ride with the staff of an emergency department located in an underfunded and understaffed Oregon hospital.
They're managed by an Executive Director who has big dreams for the medical center. Lofty ones. Enamorous. Joyce (Wendi McLendon-Covey) wants to take their "safety net" hospital--which provides care to anyone who walks through their doors regardless of whether they have insurance and no matter their financial status--into an international medical destination. She's got the large scale model to prove it.
But given what we can see in the first four minutes of footage that NBC has released, there's no way she's making her 5-10 year goal of reaching this achievement though this isn't because of a workforce that lacks dedication.

It’s been quite a long wait, but the Television Critics Association’s annual TCA Awards returns to an in-person event this year for the first time since 2019. After the Covid-19 pandemic and last year’s Hollywood strikes turned everything virtual for five years, the 40th annual TCA Awards takes place at the Langham Pasadena on July 12, during the half-way point of this summer’s TCA press tour.
And looking to get things back on track is host and critics’ fave Wendi McLendon-Covey.
“No pressure,” she jokes. “But my God, it’s going to feel good to actually get to be in person again have that return to normalcy. I love the TCAs, I love meeting everybody. Maybe I’m a nerd, but I’m looking forward to it.”

NBC has picked up 5 more episodes of St. Denis Medical, bringing the Season 1 order for the single-camera comedy to 18 episodes.
The news comes as the mockumentary, from the Superstore duo of Jason Spitzer and Eric Ledgin, is wrapping production on its original 13 episodes, so the back order will allow the show to stay in continuous production. It follows a pickup of five additional scripts a few weeks ago.
The episodic order also comes a month after NBC unveiled its fall 2024 schedule, with St. Denis Medical as a Tuesday anchor, opening the night at 8 Pm where Superstore aired for most of its run.
NBCUniversal brass have been bullish on the project, starring Allison Tolman, Wendi McClendon-Covey and David Alan Grier, from the pilot stage. It was a highlight at an offsite meeting this Wednesday with top executives from Mark Lazarus’ NBCUniversal Media Group where a subsequent episode was screened to strong reception.

Three new series are set to premiere in the fall, including the drama Brilliant Minds, starring Zachary Quinto and inspired by the true story of a revolutionary, larger-than-life neurologist, Oliver Wolf, and his team of interns as they explore the last great frontier — the human mind — while also grappling with their own relationships and mental health.
Also coming is St. Denis Medical, which stars Wendi McLendon-Covey, Allison Tolman, and David Alan Grier and is from co-creators Justin Spitzer and Eric Ledgin. It brings the laughs with a mockumentary about an underfunded, understaffed Oregon hospital where dedicated doctors and nurses try their best to treat patients while maintaining their own sanity.

Three of the predicted five Best Limited Series Emmy nominees — “Lessons in Chemistry,” “Shōgun” and “Masters of the Air” — are new shows, while the other two are, well, not. “Fargo,” in first place in the odds,” and “True Detective: Night Country,” in third, are competing with their respective fifth and fourth seasons. Both Emmy-winning shows, the anthology series debuted within months of each other in 2014, and if they both make the cut, it’ll be the very first time they’ll go head to head in a series race, 10 years late.
A decade ago, the shows could’ve — and should’ve — collided at the Emmys. Starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, “True Detective” debuted that January on HBO to great acclaim and became a ratings smash. In April, a month after “True Detective” concluded, Noah Hawley‘s “Fargo,” starring Billy Bob Thornton, Martin Freeman, Alison Tolman and Colin Hanks, arrived...

The subgenre of "Christmas movies" has been a curious one of late. While new movies set during the holiday season or others explicitly concerning it are released every year (especially holiday horror), it feels like we haven't gotten a new classic, gotta-watch-this-every-year holiday movie in a while. That's because, in all honesty, most classics aren't made, they're grown; it takes a few years for most films to prove their durability, and some that are overlooked upon their initial release get rediscovered and slowly morph into seasonal staples.
Filmmaker Michael Dougherty is intimately familiar with this process, as it's happened to him at least twice with two movies about two different holidays. His anthology of Halloween hijinks, 2007's "Trick 'r Treat," barely got a theatrical release before word of mouth allowed it to gain a cult reputation strong enough that a sequel has been rumored for years, and may actually happen.

FX’s “Fargo” is facing some tough competition at the Golden Globes this year in the form of Netflix’s “Beef.” Noah Hawley‘s anthology limited series follows a different cast and storyline every season with the latest installment, the fifth season, featuring the likes of Jon Hamm, Juno Temple, and Jennifer Jason Leigh. This story follows a kidnapping gone wrong that leads to implications for many.
This season has fared well, garnering three Golden Globe nominations: Best Limited Series/TV Movie, Best Limited Series/TV Movie Actor for Hamm, and Best Limited Series/TV Movie Actress for Temple. These two acting bids add to the Golden Globes history of “Fargo,” which has often done well in snagging nominations for its cast. Here’s the breakdown.
The first season saw Billy Bob Thornton win Best Limited Series/TV Movie in 2015 while co-star Martin Freeman was also nominated in the same category.

Starz has canceled Shining Vale after two seasons, Deadline has confirmed. Sources close to production revealed that the Courteney Cox- and Greg Kinnear-led series “did not find a large enough audience” to continue.
Both seasons also are set to be removed from the streamer’s library.
Sources said producer Warner. Bros. TV tried to sell the series elsewhere but did not succeed.
Season 1 of the series from creators Jeff Astrof and Sharon Horgan followed Pat (Cox) and Terry Phelps (Kinnear), a married couple who cash in their life savings and move from a cramped Brooklyn apartment to an old Victorian mansion in Connecticut, as a last-ditch effort to save their marriage after Pat’s torrid affair with the handyman. Their kids Gaynor and Jake are pissed, and as disconnected as teenagers can get. Pat is losing her grip on them, and Terry doesn’t see that Pat might...

After just two seasons, the Courteney Cox-starring horror series “Shining Vale” has been given the axe by Starz, and that’s not even the worst news about the show this afternoon.
Variety reports, “The Season 2 finale of the horror comedy, produced by Warner Bros. TV, aired on December 1. Not only will the show be cut by the network, the first two seasons will be removed from the streaming service at the end of the year.”
“Shining Vale” Season 2 premiered on the Starz streaming service on October 13, 2023, and Variety notes that the show didn’t find enough of an audience to justify a third season.
The bigger issue here, however, is the news that both seasons of “Shining Vale” will be removed from the Starz streaming service. The series has to date not received a single physical media release, so this could be another case of a streaming project being...

5 Best Christmas Horror Movies(Photo Credit –IMDb)
When one thinks of Christmas, horror, and gore are generally not the first things that come to mind. Christmas is all about having fun. It’s full of life and color, and identifying it as scary would be out of place. And while Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas” does make a perfect example of a ‘scary Christmas,’ it does not qualify as a traditional, spine-chilling horror movie. But contrary to popular narrative — certain media out there does it, and does it well. Think of the latest “Fargo” episode that runs a Halloween theme and blends it with “Nightmare Before Christmas.”
So, the appeal behind it is understandable. This is why we have curated a list of the best Christmas horror movies you can enjoy for a change of pace from all the happy and sparkly traditions.

Fans have been waiting 14 years for director Michael Dougherty to get around to making a sequel to his Halloween-themed horror anthology Trick ‘r Treat, but Dougherty has stayed busy as the years have gone by, making the Christmas-themed horror film Krampus, directing Godzilla: King of the Monsters, and contributing to the scripts for X-Men: Apocalypse, Godzilla vs. Kong, and the upcoming Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. Recently, there have been indications that a Trick ‘r Treat 2 might finally be moving forward. Dougherty has even said the screenplay has been written. But while he pushes that sequel toward production, he has revealed to Collider that he has an idea for Krampus 2 as well.
Dougherty told them, “We have an idea for a sequel on that one, too. It doesn’t necessarily center around a family as much as it might be about a group of strangers who are trapped somewhere.

Marge Gunderson, the pregnant police chief Frances McDormand played in Fargo the movie, does not appear in Fargo the show. Not in the flesh, anyway. In spirit, she’s all over FX’s hit anthology series — reincarnated into a new body each season, her famous Minnesota gumption worn like a badge. Allison Tolman played the show’s first, most obvious Gunderson proxy. Since then, we’ve seen a gender-flipped Gunderson in Patrick Wilson’s nice-guy deputy and a double dose of Gunderson in the intersecting Stussy cases investigated by Carrie Coon and Olivia Sandoval. Last season even delivered a kind of evil Gunderson, with Jessie Buckley putting a malevolent spin on McDormand’s Midwest folksiness as a psychotic 1950s nurse.

This November, after three full years of waiting, fans of FX’s “Fargo” will be treated to a brand new season. Unlike the anthology series’ fourth iteration, which served as a prequel to its first two, the upcoming fifth batch of episodes will tell an entirely original Midwestern crime story. Leading the season’s star-studded cast is Jon Hamm, who has his sights set on earning his first Best TV Movie/Limited Series Actor Golden Globe nomination this winter. Since he was already honored in the corresponding drama series category for “Mad Men” in 2008 and 2016, his possible new victory would make him the seventh man to clinch Golden Globes for performances on both continuing and non-continuing TV programs.
Hamm, who picked up four additional Golden Globe bids for “Mad Men” between 2009 and 2013, has already begun his splashy 2023 return to prestige TV by playing a new supporting role on the third season of “The Morning Show.
