Five years ago, it was announced that Ben Wheatley would be writing, directing, and executive producing Generation Z, a “hilarious, frightening, and political” series that would consist of six hour-long episodes that would “mix flesh-eating zombies into a story that satirizes how Brexit has divided the UK.” That project didn’t make it into production when it was originally supposed to because of the pandemic shutdown… but after making Meg 2: The Trench (you can read our review at This Link and check out our interview with the filmmaker Here), Wheatley circled back around to Generation Z. The show is now ready to start airing on Channel 4 in October, and in anticipation of the premiere, Empire has unveiled two new images. One can be seen above, and the other can be found at the bottom of this article.

Everyone knows Apple TV+ for Ted Lasso, The Morning Show, and Severance. There have been a few other popular TV shows sprinkled in over the last few years. Presumed Innocent starring Jake Gyllenhaal had some good buzz recently. Despite Apple TV+’s substantial investment into the TV business, it’s still looking for mainstream hits.
And, let me be clear. I am a fan of Apple TV+. I appreciate how many TV shows with huge stars the streamer is cranking out these days, but it’s just so odd that almost no one is talking about these great shows!
I put together a list of the four most underrated shows on Apple TV+ that you need to watch right now!

“We were actually filming Season 5 of ‘Slow Horses,’ so we were actually on set,” says director Saul Metzstein about the day that he and the cast and crew found out about the show’s nine Emmy nominations. For our recent webchat he adds, “News came in of various nominations and it was actually quite fun and it was very disruptive with exec producers wanting to call me and things like that and I’m like, ‘I’ve got one more shot to get!’ So there was some poetry involved in the fact that it was exactly at the same time as we were filming more of it.” Watch our exclusive video interview above.

In “Hard Lessons”: River (Lowden) races to the Barbican Bridge and meets James “Spider” Webb (Freddie Fox), acting on behalf of the kidnappers who have threatened his family. Webb instructs River to steal the Prime Minister’s vetting file from MI5 headquarters before midday or Standish (Saskia Reeves) will be killed. At the Park, River evades Nick Duffy (Chris Reilly), the head of the Dogs, and gradually works his way into the records department after stealing a security pass from another Dog, Hobbs (Chris Coghill). “It’s the best of both worlds,” declares “Slow Horses” star Jack Lowden. For our recent webchat he adds, “It has this super intrigue and sexiness of the world of espionage that’s never boring to look at, but it also has the workplace element, with a dreadful boss and a terrible working environment that I imagine most people around the world can relate to at some point in their lives. It’s that mashup that’s so fantastic, and that’s actually what Mick Herron, the author of the novel said that he wanted to do a workplace drama thriller,” he explains, adding with a grin that “he chose espionage because nobody knows anything about espionage, so nobody can tell him if he just makes stuff up.” Watch our exclusive video interview above.

“We had a lot of fun in Istanbul because it was the opening of the season” declares Oscar-nominated cinematographer Danny Cohen (“The King’s Speech”) about the acclaimed third season of the Apple TV+ spy drama “Slow Horses.” It opens in the Turkish city, but then soon finds itself back in the decidedly unglamorous Slough House, the MI5 office reserved for the outcasts and misfits of the British intelligence agency. For our recent webchat he adds with a smile, “you instantly have the idea to sell the audience a complete red herring that they’re going on some sort of ‘James Bond’ travelogue. See the world, travel the globe, beaches, interesting cities, and then to use that as a hook to then drag everybody back to the well-worn interiors of Slough House.” Watch our exclusive video interview above.

Jericho Ridge
A dark, freezing night. A lonely sheriff’s station. Incidents elsewhere taking the other officers way, and just one woman, nursing a broken leg, left to hold the fort. Unfortunately for her, there’s something inside the station that some very bad people want to get their hands on, and she’s in the way. Survival thriller Jericho Ridge is opening in UK cinemas on Thursday, and it’s going to deliver some serious action.
In March, when it screened at the Glasgow Film Festival, I met up with director Will Gilbey and star Chris Reilly to discuss it, but we all knew from the start that it would be a challenging interview. There’s very little we could actually say about the story without giving things away. It was a few dramatic twists and turns, but there’s very little embellishment. "Backups on the way, we just have to hold out 'till they arrive! Okay?" The Movie Partnership in the UK has debuted an official UK trailer for an indie thriller titled Jericho Ridge, marking the feature directorial debut of filmmaker / editor Will Gilbey. This first premiered at the 2023 Galway Film Fleadh in Ireland last year, and opens in UK cinemas this April, with no US date confirmed just yet. Trapped and without backup, a small town cop fights for her life when her remote Sheriff's Office is targeted by a group of murderous attackers. Isolated and outgunned, mother and son will have to do whatever it takes to survive. The director explains how intense this survival thriller is aiming to be: "I want the audience to feel wrung out when they leave the cinema, as if it's only safe to take a breath when the closing credits start rolling." Maybe we should all aspire to be as calm as Ingrid (Sophie Okonedo) is in TV Insider’s exclusive sneak peek of the Slow Horses Season 3 finale, dropping on Apple TV+ on Wednesday, December 27. The First Desk (the Director-General of MI5) was the one to issue the kill order for anyone who knew about that file that could presumably prove that Sean Donovan (Sope Dirisu) was right that MI5 killed someone he loved for leaking classified intel, and now, Diana (Kristin Scott Thomas) can’t help but remark about the fact that she hasn’t heard from Duffy (Chris Reilly). “He’ll call when he’s contained the situation,” Ingrid says, but Diana corrects that with exactly what she’s set in motion: “You mean when he’s murdered fellow agents at your bidding.” Since they’re talking about Slow Horses, to Ingrid, they’re “mercy killings, putting ...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Slow Horses Season 3 Episode 4 “Uninvited Guest.”] River (Jack Lowden) is about to regret saying yes to Ingrid (Sophie Okonedo) on Slow Horses. The First Desk (the Director-General of MI5) enlists him to take Sean Donovan (Sope Dirisu) to a facility to see files he’s so sure will prove that MI5 killed someone he loved for leaking classified intel in exchange for handing over Standish (Saskia Reeves), whom he and his team kidnapped. But then Ingrid tells Duffy (Chris Reilly) that anyone who went inside cannot make it out, given what Sean is really there to see. That means River and Louisa (Rosalind Eleazar). TV Insider spoke with Lowden about River’s Season 3 so far, including that one-man heist he tried to pull off, what’s going on with his grandfather (Jonathan Pryce), and what’s next. Let’s start with River’s attempt to pull off that heist at...

Slow Horses is finally back with a whole new season filled with espionage, institutional failure, corruption, dark jokes, and deadly farts. The Apple TV+ series recently came out with its much anticipated third season and once again it revolves around the MI5 failures who are occupying Slough House. In the new season, we see a member of the Slow Horses getting kidnapped and how the rest of the team fights with everything they have to get them back.
As always Slow Horses isn’t your typical spy thriller because its characters and stories are as far from James Bond as they could be, and in my opinion, that’s what made Slow Horses one of the best espionage thriller ever made.

Apple TV+ has shared the first trailer at the upcoming third season of its critically acclaimed espionage drama, ‘Slow Horses.’
Starring Academy Award winner Gary Oldman. Adapted from ‘Real Tigers,’ the third novel in the Cwa Gold Dagger Award-winning Mick Herron spy series ‘Slough House,’ the six-episode third season will premiere globally on Friday, December 1 with the first two episodes, followed by one new episode weekly, every Friday through December 29, on Apple TV+.

Apple TV+ is shifting up its rollout strategy for Slow Horses Season 3, and it means we'll be getting new episodes sooner.
As revealed Tuesday morning, the highly-anticipated next chapter of the Gary Oldman drama will now premiere on Wednesday, November 29, 2023.
It was previously revealed that new episodes would air beginning December 1, 2023, so we're getting them two days earlier.
Apple TV+ has been experimenting with rolling out shows earlier in the week, and it worked very well for Ted Lasso Season 3, so we're inclined to believe this will be a good thing for this hit drama series.
We also got our first look at Slow Horses Season 3 today, with Apple TV+ sharing the official trailer.
If there's one thing we know about Slow Horses, it's that the series features a lot of talented individuals, and that will continue.

“Slow Horses” is back and better than ever for its second season, though things are not as simple as they seem when the Slough House takes on a case that leader Jackson Lamb feels is “too suspicious.”

As the team begins to uncover the threat posed by the activation of the agents, Lamb warns these secrets “couldn’t have been too well-hidden.”
“This feels too suspicious,” Lamb said, “there’s more to it.”

"Whatever's going on will be handled by the real agents." Ha. Apple TV+ has revealed an official trailer for their new original series Slow Horses, adapted from Mick Herron's bestselling book of the same name. This darkly funny espionage drama follows a team of British intelligence agents who serve in a dumping ground department of MI5, known as the Slough House, due to their career-ending mistakes. Led by their brilliant but irascible leader, the notorious Jackson Lamb, they navigate the espionage world's smoke and mirrors to defend England from sinister forces. There has to be more to it than just that! I thought it be much funnier, but instead this reminds me of Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. The series ensemble cast includes Chris Reilly, Gary Oldman, Rosalind Eleazar, Olivia Cooke, Kristin Scott Thomas, Jonathan Pryce, Stephen Walters, Freddie Fox, Jack Lowden, Sam Hazeldine, Dustin Demri-Burns, Antonio Aakeel, and Christopher Chung.

Gary Oldman is a cranky MI5 agent saddled with “absolute losers” in the first trailer for spy series “Slow Horses,” which Apple TV+ released on Wednesday.
The six-episode series is based on Mick Herron’s first novel in the “Slow Horses” series, with the first two episodes debuting globally on April 1, followed by one episode every Friday.
Oldman stars as Jackson Lamb, the brilliant but bitter veteran spy who ends up at the “Slough House,” a department of MI5, where agents who’ve made career-ending mistakes are relegated. It’s a dead-end where no interesting cases ever arise, until Jack Lowden’s still ambitious agent sees an opportunity to get back in the game.
Oldman takes a bit of pride in the group he oversees, telling Kristin Scott Thomas, “They’re a bunch of absolute losers. But they’re my losers.”

Chris Reilly certainly looks the part, when it comes to playing hard-nosed henchmen – but speaking to the Scottish actor, we encountered an affable, approachable man. We were chatting to the performer to mark the release of his latest project, where he collaborates alongside Jason Statham in Guy Ritchie’s latest production Wrath of Man.
Reilly speaks about his experience working with the esteemed filmmaker Ritchie, while also discussing another venerable force in the British film industry, as he will soon be seen sharing the screen with Gary Oldman in Apple’s Slow Horses. And of course we couldn’t help but discuss his experiences working on Game of Thrones, as he’s the only actor to have had two scripted roles within the series.

"If he's not a cop, what we is he?" MGM + UA have revealed the first official trailer for Wrath of Man, the new Guy Ritchie movie starring Jason Statham as a mysterious operative known as H. This is actually a remake of a French action film titled Le Convoyeur (aka Cash Truck) from 2004. The plot follows Statham as H, a cold and mysterious character working security at a cash truck company responsible for moving hundreds of millions of dollars around Los Angeles each week. Something else is going on involving him, and they're trying to figure out what exactly, though it seems pretty clear that it's an inside job. In addition to Statham, the full cast includes Scott Eastwood, Holt McCallany, Josh Hartnett, Jeffrey Donovan, Laz Alonso, Raúl Castillo, Post Malone, Chris Reilly, and Niamh Algar. Not so exciting - this looks like a mix of every other action movie with Jason Statham before this,...

In our exclusive, Nsfw (Not Safe For Work) clip from Concrete Plans, Jim recognizes that it's become time for his team to take action, but he kinda doesn't want to force anybody to do anything they don't want to do. So, in his gruff, straightforward manner, he lays down the rules of engagement: whoever loses then becomes the one who must accept responsibility, i.e. blame. What is he talking about? Jim (Chris Reilly) is part of a tight team that has been brought to the Welsh countryside to renovate a farmhouse that has seen better days. It's rough, tough work, yet it will be rewarding once they finish, no doubt, and once they get paid what they're owed. Yet even before they get to that...

Concrete Plans is a thriller from South Wales. This is director William Jewell's first feature as director. And, his story involves a rugged crew of builders and their growing frustration over non-payment. The builders take things into their own hands and turn on the person who hired them, leading to even more challenges. The cast for Concrete Plans consists of: Goran Bogdan ("Fargo"), Kevin Guthrie (Fantastic Beasts), Chris Reilly and Amber Rose Revah. The film's U.S. poster and trailer are here, via Dark Sky Films. The U.S. poster looks more like a concept poster. However, the title is present, along with a few other characters. Very austere, this release poster leaves a bit to be desired. The trailer is a bit more eventful. Characters work on an old estate. As the costs for construction increase, the foreman must find a way to pay his labourers. A confrontation ensues leading to a death,...
