Update: A Spanish court has ruled that tech titan John McAfee died by suicide, an inquest prompted by his family’s questions on his jailhouse death.
McAfee died in 2021 in a Spanish jail, and his death has already been ruled a suicide by authorities. But ex-ife Janice asked for a further probe. McAfee himself had previously stated that he was not suicidal and that he would be “whacked” if he died.
The ruling today stated, “There is not a single element of suspicion, of a charge against a third party, of criminal behavior,” according to Reuters.
Earlier: The family of software pioneer John McAfee has stepped up their demand for answers a year after his mysterious death in a Spanish jail cell .
McAfee’s corpse still remains unclaimed in a Spanish morgue. He was awaiting extradition to the US on tax evasion charges when he was found dead in a Barcelona cell.

Once upon a time, a simpler time, when kids had attention spans that lasted longer then a thirty second tik-tok video and people drove their cars while paying attention to the road and not with their heads down scrolling through instagram videos, a world before everything we could ever want or need to know was right in our pocket. For some of you, that world sounds like ancient times, but for those of us of a certain age, that world really wasn’t so long ago. Allow me to take you back to the year 1995 when a new-ish thing called the Internet was becoming more mainstream (here would be a good spot to drop in that Katie Couric/ Bryant Gumble clip “What is the internet?”) It was a time when you would have to ask your parents to not use the phone for twenty minutes so you could get online...

John McAfee was a genius, a scoundrel-criminal, a gun fanatic, a possible murderer, and a man who liked to mix morning tequila sunrises with hands dirtied by throwing mattresses against his windows to ward off imaginary hit men. He also ran for president. Yesterday, he finally ran out of road.
It appears the 75-year-old McAfee died by suicide, just like his father, in a jail near Barcelona. His body was found shortly after a Spanish court approved his extradition to America, where he faced multiple fraud charges for pumping dubious cryptocurrency ventures.

John McAfee, whose McAfee antivirus software was a go-to standard in the late 1980s and early 1990s, but was later overshadowed by his globe-trotting wild activities, died in a Barcelona jail cell Wednesday. His death at age 75 was an apparent suicide, authorities claimed.
McAfee was found dead just hours after a Spanish court approved his extradition to the US to face charges for failing to file taxes from 2014-2018.
A larger-than-life character whose outrageous pronouncements and antics inspired numerous film and TV projects, McAfee in his later life was buoyed by his security software fortune and his early investments in cryptocurrency. He became a global nomad, living in several countries and traveling the world on a yacht while dodging numerous law authorities in the US, Central America, and the Caribbean.

San Francisco, March 6 (Ians) Prominent tech figure John McAfee, who founded the leading antivirus software provider McAfee, has been charged with securities fraud in the US over a cryptocurrency scheme that he ran on Twitter.
According to federal prosecutors, McAfee and his executive advisor-cum-bodyguard Jimmy Gale Watson Jr, earned nearly $2 million by requesting Twitter followers to invest in cryptocurrencies like Reddcoin and Dogecoin.
They later sold off their own holdings as the price of these cryptocurrencies went up, reports The Verge.

"The defendants allegedly used McAfee's Twitter account to publish messages to hundreds of thousands of his Twitter followers touting various cryptocurrencies through false and misleading statements to conceal their true, self-interested motives."

The many clones Tatiana Maslany played on Orphan Black banded together to fight Neolution, and this was when it mainly was a belief for people who’d undergone technological enhancements, like tails. The Immortality or Bust trailer follows the man who invented volcano surfing as he rides a transhuman wave to Washington.
On The Six Million Dollar Man, Lee Major’s astronaut Steve Austin was rebuilt into the world’s first bionic man. Government scientists made him “better, stronger and faster” through biotechnical enhancements. The man at the center of Immortality or Bust wants to take that one step further. “Do you want to live forever and become a cyborg,” asks the official website. “In the last Presidential election, one man embarked on an impossible expedition to defeat aging and forever change the human being through science. Running for President as the Transhumanist Party nominee, Zoltan Istvan took his message to bio hacking labs,...

The Boy Who Sold The World is an entertaining look at boy genius Ben Pasternak, a master of the universe in the making (or has he already arrived?). One has to wonder if director Adam Barton got to the game too late or left his story a little too early despite chronicling his subject of the course of several years. The cameras start rolling when mom Amy drops the then-16-year-old Australian boy off at his new high-rise apartment in the heart of New York City. Known for his Apple unboxing videos and his iOS game Impossible Rush, which topped the app store charts, he declines multiple Silicon Valley internships to head to East Coast where venture capitalists throw money at him to develop Flogg, a social network similar for teens to buy and sell goods.

Star power is always a draw at the American Film Market, led this year by Rachel Weisz playing Elizabeth Taylor in See-Saw’s “A Special Relationship.”
It’s a roll of the dice for independently financed projects. A pair of Diane Keaton projects — “Book Club” and “Poms” — were major draws at the last two AFMs. “Book Club” went up for sale in 2017 was a major success with more than $100 million in worldwide grosses last year. “Poms,” which was unveiled a year ago, failed to get much traction with $16 million.
A select list of anticipated titles at the American Film Market:
Losing Clementine
Director: Lucia Puenzo
Producers: Sentient Films, Freckle Films
Key Cast: Jessica Chastain
Logline: The story follows world-renowned artist who, after flushing away her meds, gives herself 31 days to tie up loose ends before killing herself.

A combination of star vehicles and high-octane action pics dominate our 2019 list of hot Afm market debuts.
Several glossy packages have come together in the last week: Channing Tatum is playing an Army Ranger with a canine buddy in road-trip comedy Dog; Rachel Weisz will star as Elizabeth Taylor in activism-focused tale A Special Relationship; Zac Efron is tracking John McAfee in the jungle in comedy King Of The Jungle; and Jessica Chastain will play a tormented artist in Losing Clementine. The market now looks well-stocked with titles that should pique buyers’ interest.
Last year, our Afm list had 3/24 projects with female directors, and it’s the exact same stat this year on our 25-strong roster, so no improvement there.

Condé Nast, taking the sharpest aim at linear TV of any of the NewFronts presenters thus far, styled itself as the “new primetime” destination for media buyers during its Tuesday afternoon pitch at the newly opened Hudson Yards.
“We’re the new Thursday night, and we’re always on,” declared Pamela Drucker Mann, chief revenue and marketing officer of Condé Nast. The event made liberal use of mid-20th century iconography of TV sets with rabbit ears but sought to emphasize how the stable of brands like Vogue, Vanity Fair, GQ and The New Yorker has replaced the traditional linear lions of the broadcast world.
The choice of venue was not insignificant: Mercado Little Spain, a sprawling Spanish food market on the base level of 10 Hudson Yards, one of the new towers along the High Line on Manhattan’s West Side, along the Hudson River. Two doors down, at 30 Hudson...
