Poonam Bajwa

Poonam Bajwa is an actress who appears in South Indian films. She comes from a Punjabi family but was born and raised in Mumbai.
Bajwa was crowned Miss Pune in 2005, and after her success on the ramp, she did a few modelling assignments part-time while she was still studying. She was spotted by Kuchipudi Venkat, the director of the Telugu movie Modati Cinima (2005), when she was on assignment for a ramp show in Hyderabad. She was offered a role in the movie and agreed to film it after completing her 12th-grade exams. She excelled academically while completing her English Literature degree from Symbiosis International University in Pune.
In 2006, Bajwa appeared as Pavani in her next Telugu movie, Premante Inthe (2006). She did several Telegu movies after that, including Boss (2006) with superstars Nagarjuna Akkineni as well as Bommarillu Baskar, Parugu (2008). The same year, she made her debut in the Kannada film industry with the movie Thangigagi (2006).
Bajwa then made her debut in Tamil movies with Seval (2008). She later appeared in several other films, like Thenavattu (2008) and Kacheri Arambam (2010), with Jiiva. She also appeared in Drohi (2010) and Thambikottai (2011).
Bajwa debuted in the Malayalam film industry with Chinatown (2011). She also appeared in her next Malayalam movie Venicile Vyapari (2011), with Mammootty that year.
In 2016, she appeared in the Kannada movie Masth Mohabbat (2016) and the Tamil movies Aranmanai 2 (2016) and Muthina Kathirika (2016).
Bajwa appeared in another Malayalam movie, Zacharia Pothen Jeevichirippundu (2017). Then, in 2022, she appeared as the Queen of Travancore, Mathruppillil Kalyanikutty Amma, in Vinayan's Pathonpatham Noottandu (2022) and as Kunjipaathu in Mei Hoom Moosa (2022). She also did the Tamil movie Gurumoorthi (2022) that year.
