Paul Murphy(XIX)

- Producer
Director/Producer Paul Murphy grew up in Bolton, Lancashire with a passion for performance and story-telling and after travelling the world went on to attend film school. Upon graduation with first-class honours, Paul initially lectured at The University of Salford for several years whilst honing his skills as a director where he made several award-winning shorts including I'm Frank Morgan, the tale of a Machiavellian, Mancunian loan-shark. The film brought Paul to the attention of Brookside, where Paul really developed his skills as a single-camera director. After going on to direct many continuing-dramas such as BBC Casualty and Holby City, it became clear that Paul was extremely adept at bringing out the heart and humour in story and he started to mix his portfolio of work between Drama and Comedy, often melding the two to great effect. After directing shows like Doctor Who, Cuckoo and Death in Paradise, Paul was able to start working in the U.S., initially on the ABC/Disney medieval, comedy-musical Galavant (starring Vinnie Jones, Kylie Minogue, Ricky Gervais, Rutger Hauer, Robert Lyndsey, Sheridan Smith, amongst many, many more). The show allowed Paul to join the D.G.A and Paul now works between the U.S. and the U.K. Paul's most recent projects include the forthcoming Disney+ political thriller Red Election and the 6-part drama North Sea Connection.
