Spoiler Alert: This review contains spoilers from “With Open Eyes,” the series finale of HBO’s “Succession,” now streaming on Max.
“Succession” ends in a place it’s been countless times before: with Kendall Roy, alone and adrift by a body of water. “With Open Eyes,” the feature-length conclusion to the Roy family saga, has many such full-circle moments. Some series finales radically break from their show’s typical rhythm, flashing forward to show us the full span of the characters’ lives (“Six Feet Under”) or transforming into a different concept altogether (“Girls”). But despite its length, “With Open Eyes” is the distilled, concentrated essence of “Succession,” even as it builds to a decisive break between the Roys and the company that’s no longer theirs — a union that’s otherwise informed every second of the series’ events.
Like every season finale before it, “With Open Eyes” takes its name...

Anthony Ramos’ clothes caught fire “a little bit” while filming ‘Transformers: Rise of the Beasts’.The 31-year-old actor, who portrays Noah in the upcoming installment of the blockbuster franchise, recalled a “crazy” day on set when a firework got too close to him for comfort – and fans will get to see what happened as it was in the take used in the final edit.He told SFX magazine: “The craziest day on set was I almost got burned by one of the fireworks that went off.“In one of the scenes, there’s a big battle on this lawn at a museum.“You can see some of it in the trailer.“My windbreaker starts to catch fire a little bit. You can see a spark go into my windbreaker. It’s the actual take that they used.”A less dramatic, but still “crazy”, day of filming for the actor was...

In our Q&a series Last Call, we get down to the bottom of every last thing with some of our favorite celebs - from the last time they were starstruck to the last song they listened to. This week, TikTok superstar Anna Sitar takes our call.
Anna Sitar remembers vividly the first time someone recognized her in public. She was shopping in Target and sporting pandemic pink hair. She had been creating content regularly at that point, all while encamped at her parents' house and completing grad school over Zoom. As TikTok surged in popularity, she found her niche in relatable content, chatting openly about her long-distance relationship.
"This girl was so sweet," Sitar recounts to Popsugar of that fan encounter. "She just came over and was just like, 'I love your videos.' I had this series called 'I don't want it' where I pretty much walk in front...

Heartbreak and happiness take center stage in Miley Cyrus's "Endless Summer Vacation." Since the album's release on March 10, tracks like "Jaded," "Muddy Feet," and "Rose Colored Lenses" have given further insight into the "Flowers" singer's past relationships. Among the bruised lyrics and playful choruses, Miley's "Thousand Miles" featuring Brandi Carlile stands out as more than a song about scorned lovers. During her "Endless Summer Vacation (Backyard Sessions)" special on Disney+, Miley revealed that the country-pop ballad is actually a tribute to her younger sister, Noah Cyrus.

Logan Roy was many things — a media titan, the patriarch of the Roy family, and a business genius. He was a self-made man who grew up in difficult circumstances and yet made himself one of the most successful businessmen in the entire world. He was born on October 14, 1938 in Dundee, Scotland, and his father died when he was young, leaving his mother Helen alone to raise Logan, his older brother, Ewan, and his younger sister, Rose. Logan and his siblings were sent to be raised by their uncle Noah in Quebec, where they learned under their uncle's tough tutelage the importance of a good work ethic -- one that he would later impart on his own children. From these humble beginnings, Logan Roy ended up founding Waystar-Royco, one of the largest global media conglomerates, making him an incredibly powerful man who rubbed shoulders with presidents, prime ministers, and royalty. He...

One of the strongest themes throughout The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (espeiclaly this final season) has been the relationships between parents and children.
On The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season 5 Episode 7, nearly every plotline dealt with children, parents, grandparents, and legacy. How appropriate as we approach Mother's Day!
There were plenty of poignant moments, some indications of growing up, and the recognition of arrested development.
Is Midge finally growing and changing? It's admittedly late in the proceedings, but maybe that's one of the things that the show has been building to. She's finally being taken seriously; she's getting new and exciting opportunities and losing them through no fault of her own.
Midge is maturing. She is clearly talented and tenacious, remaining confident but getting better at knowing how to play the cards she's been dealt. She could have laid into Pete, but she didn't. She even stuck up for James, even though it hurt like hell.

You could hardly accuse the Transformers movies of being lo-fi cinema – but Rise Of The Beasts looks set to be more Maximalist than ever. By which we mean, a new breed of ‘former is dropping in for this one called the Maximals – robots not exactly in disguise, but who can turn into animals. Leading them is the gorilla-shaped Optimus Primal, voiced (as he was in 2018 cartoon Power Of The Primes) by Ron Perlman.

The singer — currently recovering from tonsil surgery — previously made her intentions known by tweeting “Joseph Quinn fine as shit” when the first half of Stranger Things 4 arrived in May; the British actor Quinn joined the cast as the charismatic drug-dealing, Dungeons & Dragons-playing Eddie, and soon became the breakout star of the fourth season.

Trevor Noah weighed in on the Supreme Court’s latest decision to limit the Environmental Protection Agency during Thursday’s “The Daily Show,” pondering what might be the thing to bring this “radical” Supreme Court to a halt.
“This is one of the most radical Supreme Courts in American history,” the late night host claimed. “They’re also imposing their power on a country that, for the most part, isn’t on board with any of it.”
Noah pointed out that there have been longstanding proposals to reform the Supreme Court, including expanding the number of justices and imposing term limits. However, he also wondered whether there may be other effective measures like “setting up a trap for Brett Kavanaugh.”

While a quick-assembly fighter jet might not be the most impactful weapon of warfare, Noah did have some suggestions for how the country could put its signature home goods conglomerate to good use.

The last-minute public hearing featuring former Trump administration aide Cassidy Hutchinson’s testimony to the House committee investigating the Jan. 6 insurrection offered a well of material for late night television Tuesday.
The revelations of the “surprise witness” — a top deputy to Trump’s White House chief of staff Mark Meadows — led to some unexpectedly shocking details about the day of the Capitol riot. Hosts Stephen Colbert, Seth Meyers, Jimmy Fallon and, for this week, Chelsea Handler unpacked those admissions and the testimony’s larger implications about how actively aware former President Donald Trump was about the day’s potential for violence in their monologues in response.
Much of their focus was on two issues from Hutchinson’s testimony: Trump allegedly throwing his lunch at a wall in a fit of rage over a Bill Barr Associated Press interview in which he confirmed there was no election fraud,...

Exclusive: Verve has upped coordinators Jessica Zou and Noah Liebmiller to Agents in the Motion Picture Literary Team.
The agency, which has a tradition of surprising staffers with promotions, last week tasked Liebmiller and Zou with putting together a video as part of a signing exercise. I understand they were told that the video was not only important but needed to convey the theatrical gravitas of the signing pursuit. During a recent all-company staff meeting, the video was played to great reception and the promotions were announced by the co-heads of the Motion Picture Lit Team who reflected on how deserving both Liebmiller and Zou were of their new titles.
Zou, who holds a Master’s in Communications from USC, began her career in the UTA mailroom before joining Verve in February 2020 where she worked for Motion Picture Lit Agents Pamela Goldstein and Sara Nestor. Liebmiller, a Middlebury College graduate and another homegrown agent,...

Fans believe that Machine Gun Kelly may have addressed a difficult and personal experience with his fiancée Megan Fox in his new song "Last November." The song, which was released on June 24, features lyrics that some fans think may reference a personal loss. Kelly previously dedicated a performance of his song "Twin Flame" at the 2022 Billboard Music Awards to "our unborn child" after telling the audience that he "wrote this song for my wife."

Trevor Noah took aim at Democratic leadership for what he perceives as a lack of proper action in the wake of the Supreme Court’s decision on Dobbs v. Jackson last week, which overturned Roe v. Wade.
“The Supreme Court is shutting everything down, people are rising up in the streets, and the Democrats? Well, they responded in a way that only the Democrats can,” he said during Monday’s episode of “The Daily Show.”
He then rolled several news clips from the past few days, explaining that Democrats had been sending out fundraising emails — and even sang “God Bless America” on the steps of the Capitol. At a press conference on Friday, Nancy Pelosi read a poem. Michigan Rep. Andy Levin tweeted a photo of himself in a yoga pose, encouraging his constituents to turn to the practice during times of “intense anger.”

Days after the Supreme Court announced the overturning of Roe v. Wade, eliminating abortion access for millions of women across the United States, a slew of late-night TV hosts used their platforms Monday to condemn the decision.
On Jimmy Kimmel Live!, comedian Chelsea Handler, who is covering the show’s hosting duties while Kimmel is on vacation — “I will be here all week long — or at least until Republicans make it illegal for women to talk,” she joked — used her opening monologue to highlight the absurdity of the Supreme Court’s decision.

At the top of each of their late-night shows, hosts James Corden, Seth Meyers and Trevor Noah took a moment to address the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision Friday to overturn Roe v. Wade, the 1973 ruling that legalized abortion nationwide.
In a taping filmed outside the U.K. Parliament, the Late Late Show’s Corden reacted to the Supreme Court ruling, first reflecting on how abortion was legalized in the U.K. in 1967. Corden noted that it would take nearly 800 elected officials and appointees to change the legalization of abortion in the U.K. and agree that “the fundamental rights of half the population would be endangered in the United Kingdom.”
Corden went on to further address the “heart-wrenching and frightening news.”
“For the past eight years, I’ve been living, working and raising my young family in America. It’s a place I love.

Nearly two decades later, Noah and Allie's love story is still sweeter than ever. Back in 2004, The Notebook, based on Nicholas Sparks' best-selling novel, came out of nowhere and not only became a surprise box office hit but also turned Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams into one of Hollywood's most beloved onscreen couples. But did you know the two actors actually couldn't stand each other while filming the movie? Or that a very famous pop star was brought in to read for Allie before McAdams landed the part? Oh, and way before Gosling nabbed the swoon-worthy role, Tom Cruise was actually attached to star in the movie. (That's a hard one to picture,...

Trevor Noah used his platform Thursday night on “The Daily Show” as he regularly does: breaking down the day’s top news in a fashion that hits home and grabs a laugh along the way.
The latest topic at hand? The Supreme Court’s striking down of a New York gun law that, for that last 100 years, restricted the issuance of carry-conceal permits to those citizens who proved they needed to carry a handgun.
“Like maybe someone is making threats against you,” Noah said in his monologue before nodding to the “Taken” trilogy. “Or maybe you’re Liam Neeson’s daughter, and people keep trying to kidnap you — even though it seems like it would be way easier to kidnap anyone else’s daughter at this point. And the Supreme Court has said to New York, ‘You can’t do that anymore.'”

Trevor Noah is among the many who aren’t totally satisfied with politicians’ latest attempt at gun reform, largely because there are some big stipulations that are being left out of it. But he’ll take it, because it’s something — and in his eyes, it’s similar to a certain sexual favor.
This week, a bipartisan gun reform bill was passed by the House, and is expected to be advanced by the Senate on Thursday. Among other things, the legislation increases background checks for anyone under 21 years old who is looking to buy a gun while also closing the “boyfriend loophole.” As it stands, federal law bans people convicted of domestic violence from purchasing a gun, but only if they are living with, married to, or have a child with their partner. The law does not apply to people who are only dating.

In the month since the deadly school shooting in Uvalde, Texas, video footage and law enforcement transcripts have shown how the town’s police force failed to properly respond when timing was most crucial. Nineteen children and two teachers were found dead by the time they stormed the Robb Elementary School classrooms. Since May 24, the police department has found troubling ways to explain why it took responders 77 minutes to intervene, despite being armed and shielded.
“What else were they waiting for, the invincible star from Mario?” posed “Daily Show” Trevor Noah on Tuesday. “Get the f— in the room! How did they not go in? They didn’t even try to get in the classroom. They didn’t even try!”
Noah said the response is particularly “insane” when he considers how he’s seen police respond to far more minor incidents in the past.

“The Daily Show” is hitting the road for midterms again. This fall, host Trevor Noah will take his Comedy Central late-night series to battleground territory in Atlanta, Ga.
While on-the-ground election coverage is nothing new for “The Daily Show,” which has previously moved to Ohio and Florida for midterms, the decision to head to Georgia for the first time is “highlighting key races and broader voting issues,” per the Paramount show. This also marks the show’s first time back on the road in a while, having just returned to its own home studio in New York City back in April following two years of doing the show remotely amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
Noah will be recording full “Daily Show” shows from the Tabernacle in downtown Atlanta leading up to election night to cap off the late-night talker’s “Votedemic 2022” midterm election coverage. Episodes are set to air nightly from Oct.

Trevor Noah thinks that Ripley’s needs to shoulder at least some of the blame for the significant damage done to the Marilyn Monroe dress that Kim Kardashian wore to the Met Gala, considering they gave her the green light to wear it in the first place.
“Kim obviously took a big risk and it backfired,” the late night host said during Wednesday’s “The Daily Show,” adding that Ripley’s still deserves “most of the blame.”
“They’re the ones who loaned the dress to Kim,” he argued. “Because Ripley’s owns the dress, they’re in charge of preserving it. So, if they told her it was okay to wear it, that’s on them.”
