The first trailer for Watchmen Chapter II has been released (via IGN) along with 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray cover art ahead of its debut on those platforms on November 26 and December 3, respectively.

In 2023, Amazon announced that it was developing a Bosch and Bosch: Legacy spinoff series about J. Edgar. Jamie Hector – who played J. Edgar on seven seasons of Bosch – was supposed to reprise his role in the new show, which would follow the LAPD detective as he takes on an undercover FBI operation in Miami’s Little Haiti neighborhood.

Now, Amazon has scuttled plans for the show, according to a recent report from Deadline. Amazon Prime Video has released the first full trailer for the upcoming series “Cross.”

Aldis Hodge stars as detective and forensic psychologist Alex Cross, with the series based on the James Patterson novels featuring the iconic character. In the trailer, which can be seen in full below, Cross must hunt down a killer who has put the detective in his crosshairs.

John Carroll Lynch has joined the third show in the franchise, centering on LAPD detective Renée Ballard (to be played by Maggie Q). The untitled series, which will stream on Prime Video, follows Ballard as she takes on running the department’s cold case division — an underfunded, all-volunteer unit with a huge case load. The character has appeared in several of Bosch author Michael Connelly’s novels.

Lynch (American Horror Story, Big Sky) will play Thomas Laffont, a retired former partner of Ballard’s who comes back to help her run the the department. He’s a kind, seasoned detective and crack interrogator.

The spinoff — one of two additional shows set in the same world as both Bosch and Bosch: Legacy — will be set up in the season three finale of the latter series, which is likely to premiere later this year.

Plenty of big news came out of this weekend's San Diego Comic-Con, including the first clip for Watchmen Chapter I, Warner Bros. Animation's R-Rated adaptation of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons' iconic graphic novel.

That divisive CG animation style is on full display as Dr. Manhattan is welcomed to The Benny Anger Show. He's confronted by several angry audience members who demand the all-powerful superhero answer for the supposed role he may have played in the people he's crossed paths with over the years being diagnosed with cancer.

As all of this is happening, we see Nite Owl and Silk Spectre - in their civilian guises - fending off an attack from criminals. Everything we see looks like the graphic novel and, unsurprisingly, Zack Snyder's 2009 Watchmen movie (which itself was a near shot-for-shot remake of the source material).

Later, Michael Connelly shared a photo of himself, along with some key components of the new Amazon Prime series. He wrote, “Mitzi Roberts, the real-life inspiration for Renée Ballard, the amazing Maggie Q who Is Renée Ballard, and our fabulous director Jet Wilkinson. Day one! Shooting on Venice Beach.”

The “Bosch” spinoff about cold case detective Renee Ballard has added Courtney Taylor to its cast, Variety has learned.

Taylor will star alongside previously announced series lead Maggie Q in the untitled series, which was picked up to series in November 2023. Like “Bosch,” the series will be based on the work of author Michael Connelly. The show will follow Ballard as she is tasked with running the LAPD’s cold case unit. Per the official logline, “When she uncovers a larger conspiracy during her investigations, she’ll lean on the assistance of her retired ally, Harry Bosch, to navigate the dangers that threaten both her unit and her life.”

Taylor will appear in the series regular role of Samira Parker. The official character description states Parker is:

We all know the immortal question: "Who watches the Watchmen?" And twice over now, the answer has been, well, us. First with Zack Snyder's epic three-hour adaptation of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons' seminal superhero satirising comic book run back in 2009, and again with Damon Lindelof's stunning 2019 sequelisation of the source material. There’s yet another adaptation of Watchmen on the way – a CG animated movie that is said to be more faithful than earlier takes on the graphic novel. Called Watchmen: Chapter 1, it’s targeting an 13th August 2024 release on disc with the second part coming in 2025. Warner Bros has now released the full red band trailer to promote the upcoming release, which you can catch below.

The voice cast for the films includes Matthew Rhys as Nite Owl, Katee Sackhoff as Silk Spectre, Titus Welliver as Rorschach, Troy Baker as Ozymandias, Corey Burton as Captain Metropolis and Michael Cerveris as Dr Manhattan.

The tale regards a group of retired superheroes in alternate 1980s timeline who for better or worse, changed the world.

Animation and Paramount, the title is the first in a two-part film based on the classic DC Comics series Watchmen, a satirical project focusing on an alternate reality in which superheroes — known as costumed vigilantes — have been outlawed.
