"I'm terrified it's all connected and the worst is yet to come... And I can't do anything to stop it." Warner Bros has revealed the full trailer for the final half of the animated adaptation of the celebrated Watchmen graphic novel. Watchmen: Chapter 2 is set to debut in November. Back in 2009, Zack Snyder adapted the graphic novel into an epic 3 hour long movie. Which was extended into the "Ultimate Cut", including animated segments of "Tales of the Black Freighter" from the original book. There was also a Motion Comic version in 2009. Then came the "Watchmen" series on HBO in 2019, a re-invention from Damon Lindelof (which was terrific). Now, WB is adapting the entire book again once again. It's a direct from-page-to-screen retelling of this dark & complex story about a group of superheroes with too much power. Voices of Titus Welliver as Rorschach, Rick D. Wasserman as The Comedian, Katee Sackhoff as Silk Spectre II,...

‘Bosch’ spinoff about J. Edgar not happening at Prime Video

“Can’t wait to get to work,” Hector tweeted after the show was announced.
Now, Amazon has scuttled plans for the show, according to a recent report from Deadline. Screenwriter Larry Andries and novelist Michael Connelly, who wrote the books that inspired the Bosch series, were executive producers on the show. Amazon has pumped the brakes on two projects that would have brought TV characters back to our screens. One is a Bosch spinoff centering on J. Edgar (Jamie Hector); the other is a sequel to the ’80s sitcom Who’s the Boss? The Bosch spinoff isn’t moving forward at Amazon MGM Studios, and the Who’s the Boss? sequel isn’t proceeding at Amazon Freevee, according to Deadline. The first project first made headlines in February 2023, with the news that Amazon was developing two Bosch spinoffs, one focused on Detective Jerry Edgar and another focused on the then-unknown character Renée Ballard. Saeed Adyani/Amazon The J. Edgar series would have had the former partner of Harry Bosch (Titus Welliver) going undercover for an FBI mission in Miami’s Little Haiti neighborhood, adjusting to his new life in the gritty underbelly of a glamorous city while running away from his mysterious past.

The Untitled J. Edgar project was on of two Bosch spinoffs announced in February 2023 as being in development at Amazon MGM. The other, which centers on Detective Renée Ballard, was picked up to series earlier this year with Maggie Q starring.

Two of Michael Connelly‘s well-known characters are related and have both been headliners of TV series streaming in recent years (and currently). The Lincoln Lawyer on Netflix follows lawyer Mickey Haller (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo), and his half-brother is LAPD Detective Harry Bosch (Titus Welliver), the titular character of the Prime Video series. There is some crossover between the two in the novels. Could we see that in the third season (premiering October 17) or a future one, should it be renewed? Well, what we do know for certain is that Mickey is about to be dealing with his most personal case yet: the murder of his friend, sex worker Gloria Dayton, a.k.a. Glory Days (Fiona Rene). His client, Julian La Cosse (Devon Graye), says he didn’t do it. “[Mickey] can’t shake this nagging feeling that he may in some way be responsible,” says co-showrunner Ted Humphrey, as part...

It's been a real "good news, bad news" kind of week to be a fan of Prime Video spin-off series based on bestselling books. Just yesterday, we learned that Amazon's Jack Reacher adaptation Reacher is getting a new offshoot centred around Maria Sten's fan favourite character Frances Neagley (Yay!). Now today brings with it the sad news that the streamer's Bosch continuation, Bosch: Legacy, is being, well, boshed. As reported by Deadline, the Titus Welliver starring series will conclude its run with a third and final season this coming March.
A favourite of fans and critics alike, the original Bosch series — in which Welliver played the titular cop with an anti-authority streak — ran for seven seasons, adapting various plot strands from across author Michael Connelly's 24 source novels. Such was its popularity that, within a year of the main show ending, Legacy had already been commissioned and a first season released.

“Bosch: Legacy” will end with its upcoming third season at Amazon Freevee and Prime Video.
Season 3 of the series is scheduled to debut in March 2025. Michael Connelly, whose Harry Bosch novels serve as the basis for the series, made the announcement on Friday via Instagram.
“It’s been an amazing run with this character so far,” Connelly wrote. “There’s that over-used phrase ‘It takes a village,’ so I’ll just say, it takes at least a whole town to make a show like this. We’ve had the best people up and down the call sheet. Actors, writers, directors, producers, and all the crew tried to make something special, and they certainly did. I’m very proud of what we did.”
Connelly went on to praise series lead Titus Welliver, who first began playing detective Harry Bosch on the original series in 2014. “He became the full embodiment of Harry...

The recent years have not been kind to Ben Affleck and Jeremy Renner. After their fiercely successful respective Hollywood careers spanning 25+ years and each enjoying a spot at the peak, for such tragedy and misery to befall both actors within 2 years of each other is nearly unheard of.
Jeremy Renner and Ben Affleck in The Town [Credit: Warner Bros. Pictures]
For Ben Affleck, his misery pertains more to the romantic/personal aspect of his life, as reports of his second breakup and first divorce from Jennifer Lopez flood the internet exactly 2 years after the celebrity couple got hitched. For Jeremy Renner, his fate is a bit more tragic and much more deserving of the public’s undying sympathies.
And yet, beyond the haze of nightmarish accidents and déjà vu breakups, one thread ties both Oscar-worthy actors together under a single title: The Town.

It may be hard to believe, but there was a time when people said Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’ “Watchmen” would be impossible to film. After all, it was the “Citizen Kane” of superhero comics, a marriage of inventive storytelling, critical commentary and visual ingenuity that capitalized on the unique artistic possibilities of its medium. Not to mention that it would be expensive as hell to make and, if adapted faithfully, rated “R” — a doubly dicy proposition in the Hollywood studio system.
But that was then and this is now. Zack Snyder brought “Watchmen” to the big screen 15 years ago with a well-intentioned but overblown adaptation that was respectful to the material until it wasn’t, altering a single, load-bearing plot point that made the whole story collapse. After decades of anticipation, that movie came and went, more or less failing to make the impact on superhero cinema the way...

Amazon is adding another actor to its expanding Bosch universe.
John Carroll Lynch has joined the third show in the franchise, centering on LAPD detective Renée Ballard (to be played by Maggie Q). The untitled series, which will stream on Prime Video, follows Ballard as she takes on running the department’s cold case division — an underfunded, all-volunteer unit with a huge case load. The character has appeared in several of Bosch author Michael Connelly’s novels.
Lynch (American Horror Story, Big Sky) will play Thomas Laffont, a retired former partner of Ballard’s who comes back to help her run the the department. He’s a kind, seasoned detective and crack interrogator.
The spinoff — one of two additional shows set in the same world as both Bosch and Bosch: Legacy — will be set up in the season three finale of the latter series, which is likely to premiere later this year.

Plenty of big news came out of this weekend's San Diego Comic-Con, including the first clip for Watchmen Chapter I, Warner Bros. Animation's R-Rated adaptation of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons' iconic graphic novel.
That divisive CG animation style is on full display as Dr. Manhattan is welcomed to The Benny Anger Show. He's confronted by several angry audience members who demand the all-powerful superhero answer for the supposed role he may have played in the people he's crossed paths with over the years being diagnosed with cancer.
As all of this is happening, we see Nite Owl and Silk Spectre - in their civilian guises - fending off an attack from criminals. Everything we see looks like the graphic novel and, unsurprisingly, Zack Snyder's 2009 Watchmen movie (which itself was a near shot-for-shot remake of the source material).
With that in mind, we can't help but wonder what...

"Even in the face of Armageddon - I shall not compromise on this." Warner Bros has revealed the first full official trailer for the animated adaptation of the celebrated Watchmen graphic novel. Back in 2009, Zack Snyder adapted the groundbreaking graphic novel into an epic 3 hour long movie (to mixed reviews). Which was extended into the "Ultimate Cut", including animated segments of "Tales of the Black Freighter" from the original book. There was also a Motion Comic version in 2009. Then came the "Watchmen" series on HBO in 2019, a complete re-interpretation from Damon Lindelof (which was terrific). Now, WB is adapting the entire book once again. It's a direct from-page-to-screen retelling of this dark & complex story about a group of superheroes with too much power. Featuring the voices of Titus Welliver as Rorschach, Rick D. Wasserman as The Comedian, Katee Sackhoff as Silk Spectre II, Adrienne Barbeau as Silk Spectre I, Troy Baker as Ozymandias,...

When Anthony Michael Hall stopped by the TV Insider office to chat about his new Netflix movie, Trigger Warning, we had to ask if we’d get to see him again on Bosch: Legacy. Hall appears on the Prime Video series as Special Agent Will Barron, who in the second season led the task force investigating Harry Bosch (Titus Welliver) and Honey Chandler’s involvement in Carl Rogers’ murder.
