Night Court will continue its revolving door policy with guest stars in Season 3, premiering November 19 on NBC. TV Insider can exclusively reveal the guest stars for the first 12 episodes of the third season. The list includes Girls alum Andrew Rannells, a Hot in Cleveland reunion for Wendie Malick and Gilles Marini, The Middle‘s Eden Sher, Brooklyn Nine-Nine‘s Joe Lo Truglio, Superstore‘s Nico Santos, Kate Flannery from The Office, and the return of Night Court original characters the Wheelers, played by Star Trek‘s Brent Spiner and Annie O’Donnell. Marsha Warfield will be back as Roz, who got married in the Season 2 finale. Jessica St. Clair will also return. As previously announced, The Big Bang Theory stars Rauch and Mayim Bialik will reunite later in the season when Bialik appears as a version of herself. Ryan Hansen and Julia Duffy are the first guest stars of the new season.

It’s not every day that a classic 1980s sitcom gets revived by a major television channel, but that’s exactly what happened with Night Court. Fans of the original series, which aired from 1984 to 1992, were thrilled—and perhaps a little shocked—when NBC premiered a revival of Night Court on January 17, 2023. Rather than rebooting the beloved show, this new series continues the original storyline, focusing on Abby Stone, the daughter of Harry Stone, the quirky and endearing judge who was the heart of the original series.
The revival has proven to be more than just a nostalgic trip down memory lane. In February 2023, after a successful debut, the series was renewed for a second season, which premiered on December 23, 2023. The momentum didn’t stop there—by May 2024, NBC had renewed Night Court for a third season, set to premiere on November 19, 2024. With its blend of old and new, the...

In the opening section of Outstanding: A Comedy Revolution, you might be forgiven for thinking this is an extended Pride Month promo to breathe new life into Netflix’s 2022 special, Stand Out: An LGBTQ+ Celebration. But in a Q&a following the rousingly received opening-night screening at the Provincetown Film Festival, director Page Hurwitz clarified the chicken-and-the-egg situation, explaining that she produced the event at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, which assembled 22 prominent queer comics on the same bill, as a foundational building block for this documentary surveying the rich history of LGBTQ+ comedians.
At a time when a new generation of queer comics from across the sexual and gender identity spectrum has emerged into what appears to be a thriving scene, this is an invaluable primer on the many performers who kicked down resistant doors to make today’s greater representation possible.

“Night Court” will be back in session.
The Melissa Rauch-led series has been renewed for a third season at NBC, the network announced Friday. Rauch stars in the reboot series as judge Abby Stone, who presides over the night shift of a Manhattan arraignment, with original cast member John Larroquette reprising his role as former night court district attorney Dan Fielding.
After debuting its freshman season in January 2023, “Night Court” returned for its second season in December 2023 following the Hollywood strikes. NBC has renewed Night Court for a third season. The announcement comes a little over one month after the Night Court Season 2 finale aired on Tuesday, March 26. The episode saw original cast member Marsha Warfield return for a third time as Judge Abby Stone (Melissa Rauch) let the former bailiff host her wedding in the courtroom. The episode also guest starred John Larroquette‘s former co-star on The John Larroquette Show, Gigi Rice, as the sister of Og character Christine Sullivan, Katie. Christine was played by the late Markie Post. Her reference in the Season 2 finale marked the first time the character got a tribute in the reboot. In the new Night Court, the eternally optimistic Abby Stone follows in the footsteps of her revered late father, Judge Harry Stone (the late Harry Anderson), as she takes on the challenge of overseeing the night shift of a Manhattan arraignment court.

Chicago – Chicago is acknowledged as one of the great comedy cities in the world mostly for The Second City influence. However like other cities, there is an ebb and flow regarding stand-up comedy, and during the late 1980s/early 1990s there was a stand-up boom in the Windy City, chronicled in the film “Out of the Loop.” Producer Scott Perlman provides the context behind the documentary, now available for free on Plex and Tubi, and for download on various platforms.
“Out of the Loop” is familiar documentary form, but there are several twists in the story that occur, exposing the uniqueness of Chicago … one of the main ones being the great divide between Black and White comics, also divided geographically between South and North sides. The truth, in this case, set several comics free and emphasized the lost legend of the late Bernie Mac. Featuring well know and lesser known...

‘Night Court’: Dan Meets Christine Sullivan’s Sister in ‘Very Sentimental’ Finale Sneak Peek (Video)
Weddings bring everyone together. John Larroquette says fans of the original Night Court are in for a “sentimental” ride in the reboot’s Season 2 finale, airing Tuesday, March 26 on NBC. Indeed, in the TV Insider exclusive clip above, the Night Court reboot addresses original main character Christine Sullivan for the first time, as Dan meets Christine’s sister at Roz’s (Marsha Warfield) wedding. Christine was played by the late Markie Post (who died in 2021) in the original Night Court, joining the cast in Season 2 and remaining until the series finale. Christine and Judge Harry Stone were teased as a romantic pair for a long time, and Christine confessed her love for Harry as she said her goodbyes to everyone at the courthouse after she was elected to Congress. Dan left to pursue Christine, but neither Harry nor Dan were revealed to have ended up with her when the Night Court...

There’s lots of love to go around on the Night Court set. For starters, creator and star Melissa Rauch has a deep love of the original series. That love shows in the commitment to a keeping a revolving door of guest stars just like its predecessor. It also pays an even clearer homage by having the guest stars be cast members from the 1984 series. Marsha Warfield returned as the beloved Roz in the Season 2 premiere and will be back in the finale, in the Wheelers — played by Brent Spiner and Annie O’Donnell — made their first return in the March 12 episode. The born unlucky couple appeared in six episodes of the first Night Court. They came back for more in the reboot, this time with Big Bang Theory alum Kate Micucci as their daughter. The original "Night Court" ran for 193 episodes over nine seasons. It was part of a magical Thursday-night lineup of sitcoms -- along with "Family Ties," "The Cosby Show," and "Cheers" -- that dominated the popular consciousness throughout the 1980s. "Night Court" was considered "the weird one" of that lineup, but it was no less popular, earning star John Larroquette four Emmys before he intentionally withdrew himself from consideration. Since its cancelation in 1992, "Night Court" has remained beloved by the people who initially saw it, and subsequent reruns have grown a few new fans along the way.
Sometime in 2019 or 2020, however, a revival of "Night Court" was floated to NBC, and they began developing the new series that debuted on their network in 2023. The "Night Court" revival saw the return of Larroquette as Dan Fielding, the once-lascivious-now-humbled prosecutor who served the night shifts at the Manhattan Criminal Court. Look up "exquisite" in the dictionary, and you may see a picture of veteran actress Aisha Hinds.
The multi-talented Hinds has a lengthy filmography and most recently has spent six (soon to be seven) seasons on the primetime hit drama 9-1-1.
Heading into its seventh chapter, Hinds' Hen Wilson remains a mainstay amongst the colorful characters that protect the City of Angels in their roles as first responders. And there's no slowing Hen down ever, especially in this much anticipated new chapter.
Talking to Hinds is like talking to the warmest person you can imagine. She is incredibly kind and endearing and keenly understands 9-1-1's deep importance and how it resonates with fans.
This delightful conversation touched on everything from Hen's 9-1-1 Season 7 arc to the power of Henren, and perhaps the biggest emergency 9-1-1 has ever tackled. Enjoy this one, 9-1-1 fanatics!

The Night Court revival has seen the return of several characters from the original series, but I think fans are going to be most excited by the appearance of Brent Spiner and Annie O’Donnell as Bob and June Wheeler, the perpetually down-on-their-luck couple who always have a wild story about their misfortunes.
Brent Spiner and Annie O’Donnell will appear in next week’s episode, “Wheelers of Fortune,” you can check out some photos of their Night Court return below.
Kate Micucci joins the pair as their daughter Carol Ann. “Huge surprises are in store for Dan when he’s tasked with representing Bob and June Wheeler, the notoriously unfortunate couple from the original iteration who resurface – this time with daughter Carol Ann in tow,” reads the episode’s synopsis. “While 30 years may have elapsed, their bad luck undoubtedly continues to plague them.“

"Night Court" was part of the legendary NBC Thursday night lineup back in the mid-1980s. It ran in a block with "The Cosby Show," "Cheers," and "Family Ties," a proud part of a sitcom renaissance that lasted through to the end of the decade. Of that lineup, "Night Court" was the black sheep, offering up broader characters, wackier scenarios, and a surrealist tone that kept it just a few steps removed from reality. The series was set in a Manhattan Criminal Court, but only during its night shift, when all the weird cases came in. Harry Anderson played Judge Harry Stone, although the late hours had made him playfully unbalanced. Also often on the night shift was prosecutor Dan Fielding (John Larroquette), a lascivious narcissist and amusingly crude a-hole.

Up until 2014, the public at large didn't know about the extent of sexual crimes committed by comedian and TV star Bill Cosby. Since 2014, over 60 women have come forward with allegations of sexual assault, some of which stretch back to the 1960s. The many, many details of Cosby's assaults, cover-ups, and other crimes have been openly detailed in the news, and in the 2022 documentary series "We Need to Talk About Cosby."
Cosby's crimes make discussions of the hit series "The Cosby Show" a little fraught. Because the stories of sexual assault hadn't been made public yet, Cosby was easily accepted by mainstream sitcom viewers as a kindly, father-like figure: a perfectly put-upon patriarch of a modern, wealthy Black family. "The Cosby Show" was instantly successful and widely beloved when it debuted in 1984, and it lasted eight seasons and 201 episodes. Everyone watched it. The NBC sitcom "Night Court" was a satirical take on the zany and chaotic underworld of the midnight shift at the courthouse. With an unconventional, free-loving judge at the helm of this circus, there's no telling what might happen. The series was such a massive hit that it ran for nine whole seasons, featuring a cast of relatively unknown actors that, when assembled, formed one of the most acclaimed ensembles of all time. The show won eight Primetime Emmys and was nominated no less than 32 times. "Night Court" won in a variety of categories, but the actor that ended up taking home the most gold was John Larroquette, who played egotistical D.A. Dan Fielding.
A "Night Court" reboot landed on NBC in 2023. Sadly, few members of the original cast are still around to reprise their old roles, and the show is comprised almost entirely of new characters. Harry Anderson,...

John Larroquette admits it was more than a little sad when he first walked on the set of the new Night Court.
Speaking with reporters Tuesday from the comedy’s set on the Warner Bros. lot, Larroquette recalled his state of mind when he decided to reprise his character, Dan Fielding, for the NBC reboot. “As we all know, out of all of the originally cast, I am literally the only one left on the door like Leo in Titanic, wondering if I would make it.”
“There was some sadness involved,” he continued about the reboot. “But the aliveness of these people around me made me it bittersweet and it became sweeter and sweeter. The heart of the show is in their hands. Melissa [Rauch] is running this boat well. I became sort of pleased with coming back. Still, sometimes, I am reminiscent. So much of my career was buoyed by this show.

We are big fans of Night Court here at JoBlo.com. From reflections on the original series to memorials for the stars who have passed, we were cautiously optimistic about the NBC revival of the sitcom. Since most revivals have been hit or miss and the multi-camera style has grown antiquated, it was a pleasant surprise to find how good the Melissa Rauch-led remake actually is. With John Larroquette reprising his role as attorney Dan Fielding, the new version of Night Court is much like the original with some minor tweaks.
One of the most exciting elements of the series is the references and connections to the 1980s version of the show, such as the fact that Judge Abby Stone (Rauch) is the daughter of Harry Stone (the late Harry Anderson). With the premiere date just around the corner, let’s dive into who could be appearing in the Night Court Season 2 cast. The Night Court Season 1 finale featured a cameo fans of the 1984 Night Court had been waiting for. Marsha Warfield, who played Roz in the original series, appeared in the last moments of Season 1. Roz and John Larroquette‘s Dan Fielding were shocked to see each other in the New Orleans night court over which Dan presided as judge. Warfield told TV Insider after the finale that she is “absolutely” coming back for Season 2. The plan ...

Richard Moll, the fun-loving actor who portrayed the towering and tenderhearted bailiff Aristotle Nostradamus “Bull” Shannon on all nine seasons of the popular NBC sitcom Night Court during its original run, has died. He was 80.
Moll died peacefully Thursday at his home in Big Bear Lake, California, his publicist announced.
Suitable for his 6-foot-8 frame, Moll played an abominable snowman alongside Ringo Starr and Barbara Bach in the comedy feature Caveman (1981), and he was a scary, decomposing Vietnam veteran in the horror film House (1986).
Moll also did lots of voiceover work, with a regular gig as the immortal bodyguard Norman on the syndicated series Mighty Max and turns as Harvey Dent/Two-Face for three Batman cartoons.
Moll had a shaved head — he did that to play the warrior Hurok in the sci-fi film Metalstorm: The Destruction of Jared-Syn (1983) — when he auditioned for the role of Shannon on Night Court, created by Reinhold Weege.

NBC took a big swing in 2023 in not only reviving Night Court but in bringing it back with the aim of returning to the classic sitcom style.
Seriously, how long has it been since we've heard a proper laugh track? An entire generation of TV viewers has never experienced the joy of a well-timed pratfall shared with a hundred faceless "live studio audience" members. It's a darned shame, it is.
That big swing connected with audiences and ratings, and NBC renewed the fledgling series a scant few weeks after its premiere in January. But with that jaw-dropping, game-changer finale, where will they go with Season 2?
Warning: Spoilers ahead for Night Court Season 1 Episode 16.
With the universal agreement that John Laroquette is the comedic foundation upon which the revival is built, it came as a shock on the finale when he follows through on his intention to leave Manhattan for a judgeship in Louisiana.

For the first season finale, NBC’s “Night Court” revival treated fans to the all too brief return of a beloved character (and cast member) from the original series: Former bailiff Roz, played of course by Marsha Warfield.
“The Honorable Dan Fielding Part 2” continues from last week’s episode, when Dan Fielding (John Larroquette) accepts a chance to return to his home state of Louisiana to become a judge. In Tuesday’s season finale, he’s presiding over a case involving a fight during a bachelorette party in the French Quarter of New Orleans. It seems the bride got arrested and when she’s hauled into court, it turns out to be Fielding’s old “Night Court” coworker, Roz.
Roz can hardly believe Dan is a judge now and asks to be taken back to jail rather than deal with him. And that’s it. Short and sweet, but surely...

[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for the Night Court Season 1 finale.] Roz is back! Outside of John Larroquette‘s series regular role, fans of the original Night Court have been wanting to see one of the original stars appear on the popular NBC reboot. Their wish was granted in the Night Court Season 1 finale when Marsha Warfield returned as Roz. But this time, she ditched the bailiff uniform and instead was the one facing the judge! That judge, to her chagrin, was Dan Fielding, with whom she shared many a memory at Manhattan’s night court. Warfield showed up in the final moments of Season 1 Episode 16, “The Honorable Dan Fielding Part 2” (see the moment above). You can tell by the title that Larroquette’s curmudgeonly lawyer was promoted to the judge’s bench. The job took him away from the newly reinstated Abby Stone’s (Melissa Rauch) court and to New Orleans, where Roz was arrested for...

Roz is back! Marsha Warfield, who played the caustic bailiff on “Night Court” for six seasons, made a surprise appearance on Tuesday night’s episode of the series’ 2023 revival.
Warfield’s appearance came on Tuesday during part 2 of the episode “The Honorable Dan Fielding.” In the episode, Dan Fielding (as reprised for the revival by Emmy winner John Larroquette) has taken a job as a judge and is reading what’s next on his docket: “Another fight at a bachelorette party in the French Quarter. Ok bailiff, bring in this bride to be!” Turns out it’s Roz, wearing a “bachelorette” banner. “Fielding? They made you a judge?” she stares at disbelief, and then storms out of the courtroom. There's trouble in paradise on Night Court Season 1 Episode 14, when Abby starts questioning the foundation of her relationship with Rand after meeting her spiritual doppelganger in Neil's high school crush.
Meanwhile, we take another haywire trip through Gurgs-ville when she takes an assault on Dan as a personal attack on her honor as a bailiff.
Finally, and it's probably a silly thing to get hung up on, but who honestly believes Neil is old enough to have had a crush on Mrs. Brady?
Like the O.G. series, Night Court has been stellar at booking bang-on guest stars.
Having a second Melissa -- Villaseñor, in this case -- portray Gabby to Melissa Rauch's Abby is some genius casting.
It goes without saying that Neil definitely has a type.
Cheerful and capable professional women already involved in long-term relationships obviously turn his crank.

Night Court is back on NBC, but the only reason the new-boot could happen was because people loved the original series. Night Court ran for nine seasons from 1984 – 1992, so if you haven’t seen the original yet, it is streaming on Freevee. If you have exhausted all nine seasons plus the new one, don’t worry.
