- Suffered a stroke during the filming of Buster's second feature film, Our Hospitality (1923). He insisted on returning to work and completing the film, but died shortly thereafter.
- Having appeared in 16 of the 19 Buster Keaton-directed shorts, he was the actor who appeared in more Keaton movies than anyone except Buster himself.
- Was a family friend of the Keaton family from the summers they spent at the Actor's Colony on Lake Muskegon in Michigan.
- Was Buster Keaton's favored villain and antagonist in a series of films, Roberts' huge size providing an amusing contrast with the small Buster.
