Dick Noel was born in Brooklyn, NY on December 3, 1925 as Luther Noel Pirtle. He decided to become an announcer when he was a teenager and after leaving high school he moved from state to state taking any radio jobs he could find until he came back to NY. He decided to change his name for radio work in 1952. One of his early jobs was the children's TV show The Funny Bunny where he played the bunny. He worked at several different places and was the radio announcer for Lowell Thomas' Show for 8 years. On TV he did commercials for Oldsmobile and various other companies. He was the on air announcer for That Was The Week That Was and did substitute announcer gigs for various shows like Beat The Clock. He and his family moved to Vermont in 1965 and he worked for local radio stations in Vermont and New Hampshire. He continued to do some radio work on a small scale as well as commercial work at many stations in the area. He died in Troy, NY on October 19, 1991 of pancreatic cancer.
