Following the car chases, punch-ups, financial intrigue, and multiple language fun of 2008’s Largo Winch, Tomer Sisley returns as the eponymous hero in Largo Winch: the Burma Conspiracy with even more corporate shenanigans, double-crosses, high-octane action, discoveries about Largo’s deceased father Nerio, and clues about his own adopted past. It doesn’t particularly mess with the first film’s blueprint; an oddly satisfying mix of knowing Bondesque mechanics and business titans, but that’s all to the good. It’s just as fun, even with the addition of the hot-button country of disdain, Burma, and the diversion of Sharon Stone playing a cougar International Criminal Court investigator.

Taking a leaf out of Quantum of Solace’s opening we’re thrown straight into Largo’s latest international transaction via a high-speed car chase with machine gun toting baddies in tow, after he crosses the grotesque...

Understudy Andrei Simoniovich Filipov (Aleksei Guskov) is now just a simplistic cleaner of the grand Bolshoi Theatre in Russia, despite his past as a world-renowned composer. Discredited and shamed after the fall of Russia's communist regime - in combination with a general atmosphere of anti-Semitism - Filipov and his orchestra now find themselves marginalised in a society that once revered them; that is until Filipov accidentally stumbles upon a fax requesting the attendance of the apotheosized Bolshoi at the Châtelet Theatre in Paris.

For 30 years, Filipov has lived in intoxicated regret, trying and failing to forget the abruptly-interrupted Tchaikovsky violin concerto that tarnished his career all those years ago. Thanks to a moment of sheer stupidity and the undeniable friendship of his once lead-cellist, Aleksandr 'Sasha' Grosman (Dmitri Nazarov), Filipov decides to finally complete his performance of Tchaikovsky with his former Orchestra, now a bunch of shambolic boozers, by impersonating...

Inception (12A)

(Christopher Nolan, 2010, Us) Leonardo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ellen Page, Ken Watanabe, Marion Cotillard. 148 mins

Nolan pushes the mega-budget cerebral action thriller to its limits here, and possibly beyond, with a multilayered onslaught that could leave you exhilarated, exhausted, or possibly in need of a new brain. The fiendishly complex plot imagines a world where corporate spies can raid your dreams to steal, or plant, ideas. Thus, DiCaprio assembles his team and orchestrates a risky psychic heist involving dreams within dreams within dreams; something like Ocean's Eleven meets Synecdoche, New York, multiplied by James Bond. Even if it follows the logic of the Hollywood blockbuster more than an actual dream, this boldly goes where no blockbuster has gone before. And there's nothing your brain can do to stop it.
