The Patries have been making films together since 2002 appearing as actors in Indy films with no budgets and makeshift filmmaking equipment. Over the years their interest in indeed films and its filmmakers grew stronger resulting in donating their own private contributions to the San Antonio and Austin film communities. Together Ann Hollingsworth Patrie and Christopher (Chris) Patrie have both used their organizational skills not just in business but also engineering to design and build props and equipment at their own expense; in turn allowing the filmmakers to benefit from its use at no cost to bring production value to their films. In 2009 they formed Red Head Dragon Lady Productions (a name given to Ann during her military days) to officially produce indie film projects. Ann is the organizer and lends her skills in the business and of filmmaking and Chris is the design and computer animator. Together they have lent their producer talents to 16 films. They are also award-winning producers and are lauded for films which have also come out of academia from University of Texas at Austin and Columbia University New York. In 2010 they produced Into the South, a film written and directed by, Micah Barber (University of Texas), honored by the Caucus Foundation of Los Angeles with its prestigious grant. In 2012 another film I, Micah Barber, Falconer was the finalist for the 2012 Student Academy Awards. Their global reach as producers to Bulgaria, for the film, Kukari, written and directed by, Proletina Veltcheva (University of Texas). At the advice of UT Austin the Patries were sought after by film writer director, Robert Brink (Columbia University New York), winner of the $25,000. 00, San Antonio Film Commission Student Grant for his film, Devil Deal Blues the story of blues guitarist Robert Johnson. Other awards as producers include Best Film at the South Texas Film Festival and The Houston Film Festival Silver Remi Award for Symphony of Silence, a film written and directed by, Cedric Thomas Smith.
