Kim Lord is a Re Recording Mix Engineer, a Location Sound Recordist and established Lecturer.
He has retired from the ABC in Perth, WA, where he was head of Television Sound Post Production.
He has 40 continuous years experience in the film and television industries both as mixer and as location recordist and for the past twenty years has been lecturing and preparing targeted training packages to industry and tertiary institutions.
His reputation extends to all significant production houses across Australia with his work is found regularly on all platforms of television.
In association with Rookpark Studios and the WA Philharmonic Orchestra, he established a state-of-the-art scoring stage for the film, television and motion picture industries at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation studios in Perth. This facility is world class. The score for Unlocked and Breath were recorded here in 2017.
He is frequently recognised and awarded Nationally by the AACTA (AFI) and locally through the WA Screen Awards. Receiving Best Sound 2014 and 2015 and the AFI/ AACTA award Best Sound 1993.
For the past four years he has been a Grand Jury judge for the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts awards - 2014/15/16/17 and 2018.
In 2015 he was nominated for Best Sound in a Documentary by the same Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts. In 2016, he was both Craft Jury and Grand Jury judge for the AFI/AACTAS and again in 2017, he was Craft Jury judge for the Long-Form Documentary category.
The year 2017 commenced with the mixing of a 13 part television series for Discovery and the Seven network, followed by a three-part series for SBS. In the first half of 2018, he mixed another 13 part production for Discovery Europe and, in the latter half of the same year, a thirty-episode Drama series for ABC and Matchbox/NBC Television. Repeated in 2019, another 13 part series for Discovery EU and Ch 7, followed by Season Two of The Heights a 30 part Drama.
