Valsala Menon

Valsala Menon is an Indian theatre, film and television actress who primarily works in the Malayalam film industry. She was born in 1945 to Raman Menon and Devakiyamma in Thrissur District. She has three elder brothers and one younger sister. Since early childhood she learnt classical dancing and has performed on various stages in the august audience of leaders and rulers of the time.
In 1953, Valsala Menon entered the Malayalam film industry as a child artist, Baby Valsala, in the film Thiramala. At the age of 16 she got married and moved to Bombay (now Mumbai). She became Miss Thrissur in 1970 after giving birth to her three sons. Valsala Menon took dance and Malayalam language classes in Bombay. She was also active in the Ladies Club there.
Although she received innumerable offers post her marriage to act in films, Valsala made a comeback to films in Kiratham released in 1985 after her children had finished their schooling and were independent. In 1994, the film Parinayam got Valsala Menon significant recognition.
