James Bond had a huge impact on British culture, including music. For example, a Robbie Williams song is based around a 007 theme. The track in question is one of the best tunes in the franchise’s history. In addition, the 007 theme was performed by one of the most interesting female singers of the 1960s.
The James Bond movie ‘You Only Live Twice’ inspired a Robbie Williams song
The Bond franchise started with Dr. No, but it didn’t hit its stride until the third film, Goldfinger. That movie understood that the series needed a mix of humor and brutality, cool gadgets, and a theme song that used the movie’s title. The brassy power ballad “Goldfinger” by Shirley Bassey served as the template for numerous subsequent Bond themes.

After much speculation as to whether she’d ever make an appearance, Beyoncé finally joined Vice President Kamala Harris at a Houston rally on Friday.
The singer was introduced by her mother, Tina Knowles, and joined onstage by her former Destiny’s Child bandmate, Kelly Rowland. Earlier in the evening, country music’s Willie Nelson performed.
“We are at the precipice of an enormous shift,” Beyoncé told the crowd. “I’m not here as a celebrity. I’m not here as a politician. I’m here as a mother, a mother who cares about the world our children live in, a world where we have the freedom to control our bodies, a world where we are not divided, our past or present or future.”

Magnolia Pictures has unveiled an official trailer for a documentary film called The World According to Allee Willis, a life-affirming and deeply inspiring look at an amazing artist named Allee Willis. Willis passed away in 2019 at the age of 72, but left behind tons of archival footage and recordings, which have been put together to make this doc film about her. Songwriter / artist Allee Willis began filming her life as a kid in 1950s Detroit & never stopped. She pursued creative expression at all costs while struggling to fit established gender and sexual norms - until she found a path to love through self-acceptance. Willis co-wrote hit songs including "September" & "Boogie Wonderland" by Earth, Wind & Fire, "What Have I Done to Deserve This?" by Pet Shop Boys. She also won two Grammy Awards for Beverly Hills Cop and The Color Purple.

Beyoncé is making good on all of those rumors.
The Grammy-winning singer is set to join Kamala Harris at a Friday rally in Houston, a source familiar with the planning confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter.
The event, which has not yet been publicly announced, will also see Beyoncé joined by her mother, Tina Knowles, and country music’s Willie Nelson.
A Harris campaign spokesperson said they could not confirm. THR has reached out to a rep for Beyoncé.
The planned appearance ends months of speculation about if Beyoncé would publicly endorse the Democratic party’s presidential nominee, given the impact the 32-time Grammy-winning artist could have on voters.
At the onset of Harris’ campaign, Beyoncé had reportedly granted Vice President Harris approval to use the Lemonade song, “Freedom.” The song, which champions Black women’s empowerment, has since become an anthem for Harris’ 2024 campaign.

Leslie Fram, CMT’s senior VP of music strategy and talent for some 13 years, penned a farewell letter to the staff that she posted on social media Tuesday, just days after the channel was gutted by the network-wide layoffs at its parent company Paramount Global.
Fram is a longtime major player in the country-music community who oversaw the channel’s music programming overs on all verticals as well as the CMT Music Awards and franchises like CMT Storytellers, Giants and Crossroads, among other responsibilities. Yet her stature in Nashville reaches far beyond the channel, as is evident in her farewell letter:

For a film co-directed by its subject’s husband, David Furnish, Elton John: Never Too Late, while always entertaining, feels curiously impersonal and lacking in intimacy. If you want to revisit the glory days of John’s career, when he released an astonishing 13 albums in the five-year span of 1970-75, seven of which reached No. 1 on the Billboard charts, the Disney+ doc is a goldmine of exhilarating concert footage, interview clips and photographs that reveal John both in high-energy performance mode and low-spirited solitude. Fans will eat it up. But the contemporary perspective of a parallel track in which he prepares to play a farewell show is anemic.
That 2022 concert at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles marked the end of John’s 50 years of touring in North America. It also represented a full-circle trajectory from his legendary 1975 show at the same venue in front of 110,000 people (sporting a Bob Mackie...

While Thursday night’s big finish at the Democratic Party’s quadrennial pep rally was a rousing speech by current Vice President and 2024 party nominee Kamala Harris, a great many people online had been led to believe that 32-time Grammy-winning recording artist Beyoncé would show up at the United Center in Chicago.
The rumor began on X, formerly Twitter, a website that used to have a fairly rigorous verification process before Elon Musk purchased it, with “insiders” saying that the final night would feature a “special guest” that would be even more of a shocker than Oprah Winfrey, who made an appearance earlier in the week. Then TMZ, an outlet that has a very good track record for being first with entertainment news, wrote that “Queen Bey will be the big surprise performer as VP Harris officially accepts the Democratic party’s nomination to run for president.”

A representative for Beyoncé says the singer will not attend the 2024 Democratic National Convention.
“Beyoncé was never scheduled to be there,” the Grammy-winning star’s rep tells The Hollywood Reporter. “The report of a performance is untrue.”
Rumors about the pop star attending and performing at this year’s DNC, celebrating Vice President Kamala Harris’ historic presidential nomination, have exploded online throughout the week.
On Wednesday, it was reported that Pink would be the headline act ahead of Harris’ speech. On Thursday, Pink — who performed “What About Us” with her daughter Willow — appeared to have moved up in the lineup, continuing to add fuel to the fire about a surprise guest coming later in the night.

After July’s Republican National Convention attracted such luminaries as Hulk Hogan, Kid Rock and Amber Rose, this year’s Democratic National Convention is drawing arguably bigger stars like Oprah, Spike Lee, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Stevie Wonder.
This year’s DNC, celebrating Vice President Kamala Harris’ historic presidential nomination, was hosted by Tony Goldwyn, Ana Navarro, Mindy Kaling and Kerry Washington, with each star emceeing one night of the event. The four-day convention featured performances by Stevie Wonder, John Legend, Patti Labelle and other major musicians; surprise appearances by the likes of Oprah Winfrey, who gave a speech urging those who are registered as independent like herself to vote; a daytime panel moderated by Julia Louis-Dreyfus; and more.
Besides the noteworthy political figures who made an appearance at the DNC, including President Joe Biden and Harris herself, these are the recognizable names who have been spotted at events around the convention.

It’s becoming a tradition: The Chicks will sing “The Star Spangled Banner” on the final night of the Democratic National Convention Thursday evening, just as they did at the DNC four years ago.
This rendition is likely to be much more emotionally charged, though, as the trio will be performing it live, unlike the solemn version that was pre-recorded in 2020, for the pandemic edition of the convention.
The news was first reported by CNN.
At the time of the 2020 DNC appearance, Variety described their version as “turning the National Anthem into the harmony Olympics.”
But the group, formerly known as the Dixie Chicks, has a history with the National Anthem that stretches much further back than just four years ago — most famously with a rendition at Super Bowl Xxxvii that has been oft-cited as among the greatest televised versions of Frances Scott Key’s anthem ever.

The speeches from Barack and Michelle Obama were the highlight of the second night of the Democratic National Convention, but also the first-of-its-kind, well-produced ceremonial roll call, set to a DJ’s jam.

Katy Perry‘s “Firework” is perhaps the most ubiquitous Fourth of July anthem and self-empowerment anthem of modern times. Interestingly, it was co-written by a movie star who appeared in a popular trilogy of movies. The star noted that many fans are unaware of her role in penning the song.

Ester Dean co-starred in all three of the Pitch Perfect movies as Cynthia-Rose. She also appeared in other Hollywood films like Rio and Ice Age: Continental Drift. However, she is most known for writing pop songs.
Some of the hits she wrote for other artists include Rihanna’s “S&m” and “What’s My Name?,” Nicki Minaj’s “Super Bass,” and Beyoncé’s “Countdown.” She has a penchant for writing for major pop divas, but her tunes are all very different.

We all agree that Michael Jackson is known for his enduring dance moves and infectious dance-pop songs, but one of his most poignant ballads, She’s Out of My Life, has a special place in his discography. This heartfelt song, produced by Quincy Jones, highlights Jackson’s emotional depth and vulnerability.
Written by veteran songwriter Tom Bahler, the song was released as the fourth single from Jackson’s 1979 album Off the Wall. Though the album gave the world, many upbeat songs, it also produced a breakup song (She’s Out of My Life) that made Jackson cry every time he tried to sing it.

The biographical documentary is a genre that lends itself to a reliable storytelling formula. First, we look back on the origins of the subject; we are introduced to some of the key figures that helped them along the way; we are shown the beginning of their career all the way to the end, and are then left to contemplate their legacy.
Due to the predictability of this format, these documentaries can often come off as by-the-numbers, taking us on a telegraphed emotional journey intended as a crowdpleaser. But every once in a while, there’s a subject who is so unique that their story elevates the formula. Allee Willis is one such subject, with a life story that’s energetic, colorful and invigorating to witness. Director Alexis Manya Spraic crafts a documentary that strives to be just as fascinating as its subject.
