Sandra Descher was born to Mr. and Mrs. Fred Descher on November 30, 1945 in Burbank, California. Ironically, she was discovered while on vacation with her family in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Her first jobs were in uncredited bit parts in 1952. In 1954 Sandy played the traumatized little girl in "Them!" which is the role for which she is best-remembered. At that time she signed a long-term contract with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. Loretta Young was her idol, and in 1962 she was hired to co-star in "The New Loretta Young Show." In 1964 she appeared in "The New Phil Silvers Show", which only lasted eight episodes. By the time she was 17, she had made some 16 movies and 100 television shows. Descher attended North Hollywood High School.
In 1967, now known as Sandra, she left acting. Her parents owned Michaels, a chain of stores featuring Hawaiian fashion and style. In 1967, Descher left acting. She and her husband, Donald White, began to manage Michaels' Palm Springs, California location. In 2013 Descher attended the opening of the Hollywood Museum's "Loretta Young: Hollywood Legend" exhibit.
