Shannon K. Dunn
- Actress
- Writer
- Producer
Shannon is an award-winning actor and writer, who is best known for her comedic roles, and she loves to perform character parts!
When she was performing stand-up at the Comedy Store, she was recruited to be the lone female of an all-male improv group, and they performed in several LA-area venues for a few years but disbanded when Shannon was offered a series regular role on a comedy pilot (it was not picked-up unfortunately).
One of her favorite roles was playing a smoking/drinking/cursing white trash chick for the short, "The Unmentionables" -- filmed in B&W on actual 16MM film!
After taking a 10-year hiatus from acting to concentrate on writing, (she is an actor first) -- she has optioned/sold several feature film scripts (co-written with Tony Jerris) from Christmas-themed to Thrillers. Most of the scripts she writes are to simply "Tina Fey" herself by writing supporting character roles specifically for her to play (usually not the lead).
Although comedy is her first love, two of the scripts she has sold have been dramas! "Writing means I am constantly editing/revising. It's never perfect and I don't think I want anything to be absolutely perfect to be honest. Giving actors the freedom to improvise with my dialogue is awesome as long as they don't screw up the beats (for comedy) but get the words to come across naturally."
Shannon currently splits her time between her homes in California and Colorado.
