When Timothee Chalamet starrer Wonka released in 2023, the film was lauded for its music, performances, and a fresh take on the story of Willy Wonka. The musical fantasy film delved into the origin story of the character who first appeared in Roald Dahl’s 1964 novel Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Following the film’s success, the makers have officially confirmed that a sequel is in development. Paul King, who co-wrote and directed the first part, has revealed that he is working on the script of Wonka 2.

During a recent interview with HeyUGuys, Paul King was asked about a potential Wokna sequel. The filmmaker confirmed that he is working on the script of the second part. He said the team has created a story and written half a screenplay draft.

The upcoming third Downton Abbey film will pay tribute to Dame Maggie Smith, who portrayed Violet Crawley throughout the popular television series and films. Dame Maggie, who passed away in 2024 at age 89, had already completed filming her scenes prior to her death.

Hugh Bonneville, who plays Robert Crawley, recently discussed details about the upcoming film. He said the movie will serve as a “great lasting tribute” to Dame Maggie and her legacy within the Downton Abbey franchise. According to Bonneville, wrapping up all the character storylines in this final installment will give fans a “proper” conclusion.

The film is set to resume at Downton Abbey and will focus on saying goodbye to all the beloved characters, including a special farewell for Dame Maggie’s Violet Crawley. Producer Gareth Neame echoed that the film aims to honor one of its most important stars. Fellow producer Julian Fellowes wrote the screenplay to provide closure for the fans.

Known for her quirky yet genuine songwriting, Theresa Rex consistently resonates with her audience through her unique blend of playful and sincere lyrics. ‘Ugly Cry’ continues this trend, delivering her messages with infectious scandipop beats that fans have come to adore.

“I think most of us know that feeling of getting drunk and reaching that point of no return, where the lid just flips and the valves open, and you become an over-sharing, over-emotional, ugly-crying fool, sitting there on the bar bathroom floor asking your friends to hold your hair, do we not? Well, if you do, this might be the messy-girl anthem for you. Sometimes all you need to do is cry until the whole damn place is stuck under water,” Theresa Rex tells.

The track is driven by a simple yet engaging acoustic guitar arrangement, combined with a clever chord progression that makes ‘Ugly Cry’ both impactful and irresistibly catchy.

Jim Carter, who famously played Carson the master butler on Downton Abbey, clearly was taken by the leading artist giving a terrifically moving performance as Dolly Gallagher Levi upon the London Palladium stage. “That’s my wife,” he declared during the interval.

Indeed it was. Imelda Staunton was creating a gold-standard portrait of the meddlesome fixer at the heart of the landmark musical Hello, Dolly! created by Jerry Herman and Michael Stewart from Thornton Wilder’s The Matchmaker.

“It’s a brilliant production,” Carter told me.

“Wonka” has surpassed $600 million at the global box office, on an estimated $125 million budget. The film is director Paul King’s highest-grossing film, surpassing 2014’s “Paddington” and its 2017 sequel. Review: I’ll admit something – I wasn’t all that keen on watching Wonka. While I have a soft spot for Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, mainly due to Gene Wilder’s terrific performance in the lead, an origin story starring Timothee Chalamet seemed a touch too whimsical. Yet, the film inarguably has an ace up its sleeve in director Paul King, who proved with the first two Paddington films that he’s a master of so-called whimsy.

The film, which is a full-blown musical, really does cast a spell thanks mainly to the fact that Chalamet hits precisely the right note with his Willy Wonka. He’s doing Gene Wilder here, with no trace of Johnny Depp’s performance from the Tim Burton...

Indhu Rubasingham, an acclaimed theater practitioner, has broken the decades-long white male hold on the reins of power at the National Theatre by being appointed its artistic director, it was being revealed Wednesday in London.

She succeeds current director and chief executive Rufus Norris, who, by the time he departs in 2025, would have held the job for a decade over two terms.

Long tipped for the job, Rubasingham will assume Norris’s director title but will share chief executive duties jointly with present Nt executive director Kate Varah.

In a statement released via the Nt, Rubasingham said that her appointment was ”a huge honor — for me, this is the best job in the world.“ She added that the opportunity to play a role in the Nt’s history “is an incredible privilege and responsibility.”

She said she has witnessed firsthand “the commitment, collaboration, brilliance and pride of those who bring the magic to the building.

The joyous strains of “Pure Imagination” lead into an equally joyous celebration of life – and chocolate – in Warner Bros Pictures’ Wonka. Movie fans could have had a one-two Timothée Chalamet punch if Dune 2 hadn’t been pulled from the theatrical release calendar. But for now, Chalamaniacs will have to settle for seeing the ever-charming actor light up the screen in the prequel to 1971’s Willa Wonka & The Chocolate Factory.

Chalamet is no Gene Wilder, but then again, no one can fill Wilder’s shoes. Not even Johnny Depp came close in 2005’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Still, comparisons aside, Oscar nominee Timothée Chalamet (Call Me by Your Name) proved to be an excellent choice to play the overly optimistic chocolatier with huge dreams and an even bigger heart.
