After navigating the single life during the previous episode, it’s all about “Plastic Surgery Week” on board the Odyssey this week. That means a lot of “perfect” faces, and Gershon’s character expects them all to be happy faces. That’s not going to be all that easy when there’s a medical emergency.

Tom Cruise almost ruined his pretty face after he suffered a small injury while filming an intimate scene with Gina Gershon in the 1988 film Cocktail. Before he became a staple icon in the action genre, the famed A-lister once dominated the romantic-comedy scene as a heartthrob.

The actor has come a long way in his career, and being a seasoned star encouraged him to help out and guide his rookie costars. This was exactly what he did when he worked with Gershon in the said movie, though he sort of slipped up and it backfired on him.

It's become something of a Ryan Murphy fall on the small screen. The prolific producer who's brought us such generation-defining hits as Popular, Nip/Tuck, Glee, and American Horror Story has debuted quite a bit of new content this fall on Netflix and beyond.
First up, American Sports Story: Aaron Hernandez made its premiere on FX and Hulu on Sept. 17, which led right into the Sept. 19 premiere of Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story on Netflix. Since they arrived, both shows have been generating headlines, with Monsters rising to the peak of Netflix's most popular shows ranking and creating a lot of conversation online.
Next on Murphy's continued domination of television this season, two high-profile shows arrive on the same exact week. The brand-new horror series Grotesquerie will send a chill down your spine the day before the new procedural drama Doctor Odyssey sets sail. But where can...

Ryan Murphy’s new ABC medical drama Doctor Odyssey starring Joshua Jackson and Don Johnson is headed for the record books with its trailer logging 77.8 million views within its first 48 hours of release. The total makes this the most-watched trailer for a new broadcast TV show ever. The prior record was held by This Is Us, which amassed a similar total over its first 11 days. The Doctor is in, and we're ready to see the many saves and medical emergencies. Doctor Odyssey arrives in less than a week, and the first full-length trailer is out.
We already knew to expect some top-named guest stars here and there. After all, the Queen of Country Pop is going to be in at least one episode, and the latest trailer gives us the same clip from the teaser. We still have no idea who Shania Twain is going to play.
That's not all. The Doctor Odyssey trailer makes it clear there are more big names. It looks like a big guest star per episode, which makes sense considering how many people Ryan Murphy has worked with over the year.
John Stamos, Cheyenne Jackson, and more joining the guest list on Doctor Odyssey

Tom Cruise has become pretty well known for his willingness to do absolutely ridiculous, potentially life-threatening stunts in the name of cinema, but one of his earliest and least-beloved roles nearly earned him a broken nose. Long before he was stunt fighting onboard a real, speeding train for "Mission: Impossible -- Dead Reckoning," Cruise was playing former soldier-turned-bartender Brian Flanagan in the 1988 movie "Cocktail." "Cocktail" isn't a good movie by any stretch of the imagination, following Brian as he tries to find love or direction in life, going from New York City to Jamaica and acting like an obnoxious jerk the entire way. He flips bottles and treats women as disposable, roll credits. There are a few memorable moments in "Cocktail," of course, but nothing that would put Cruise in any real danger... right? Wrong.

Bill Hader has some big news on behalf of Criterion: The famed Criterion Closet is going on a nationwide road trip.
After social media sleuths spotted a Criterion-branded van on the street, IndieWire can announce that the Criterion Closet is in fact going on the road.
Criterion has built a replica of their famous film closet inside an 18-foot delivery van and will be taking their Criterion Closet Picks show across the U.S., starting in New York City at the New York Film Festival on September 28 and 29, plus October 5 and 6. Criterion has built a replica of their famous film closet inside an 18-foot delivery van and will be taking their Criterion Closet Picks show across the U.S., starting in New York City at the New York Film Festival on September 28 and 29, plus October 5 and 6. In the below video, Hader announces the national tour.
The road trip is in celebration of Criterion’s 40th anniversary. While Criterion launched in 1984, the Criterion Closet Picks video series began in 2010 when Guillermo del Toro first allowed the brand to film him choosing selections from the closet. In the 14 years since del Toro pioneered the concept, nearly 200 filmmakers have entered the closet,...

Lord of the Rings has got to be one of the most loved franchises to date. The epic fantasy films take their viewers on a journey through Middle-earth where they come across everything from hobbits to wizards. Actress Cate Blanchett played the role of Galadriel in the trilogy but her paychecks might not be as magical as the films are.

She may be a hot-shot lawyer turned investigator, but even Elsbeth Tascioni is prone to an off day or two.
The NYC transplant has proven that she is a whiz when it comes to cracking cases.
And while she always gets her man, that doesn’t mean there weren’t speed bumps.
(Courtesy of CBS)
It’s not surprising since Elsbeth seems always to be carrying two arms worth of tote bags.
Seriously, what could she possibly have in those things?!
With the second season of the hit CBS spinoff right around the corner, it’s time we revisited the best, worst, cringiest, and campiest of Elsbeth Tascioni.
And we’re not just talking about her questionable wardrobe.

Elsbeth has just revealed who the first killer guest star for season 2 is and it’s a huge name! Find out who here!
One of the best surprises of the 2024 TV season has been Elsbeth. At first, it seemed a strange idea: Carrie Preston reprised her Emmy-winning role as Elsbeth Tascioni, the incredibly quirky lawyer from The Good Wife and its spin-off The Good Fight.
Rather than be a legal dramedy, this new show is a throwback to the mystery series of the 1970s. Elsbeth has moved to New York City, where she’s an observer for the NYPD. She’s soon involved in murder cases where her unusual mind allows her to piece together clues to solve it.
What makes the show notable is that, like Columbo, it’s a “reverse whodunnit” in that the audience sees from the start who the killer is. The thrill of the episode...

Lionsgate is bringing Eli Roth’s Borderlands to Premium Video on Demand later this month to lick its wounds after a dismal box office performance. Beginning August 30, you can purchase Borderlands via PVOD and Premium Electronic Sell-Through. The tale of the film’s journey to the silver screen and subsequent failure at the box office is legend, with journalists and fans baffled by the movie’s ability to misfire despite boasting 17.75 million guns.
I don’t know that anything could have saved Borderlands from its unfortunate fate. The humor of the video game franchise is obnoxious and dated at best, with characters barking in leet speak amidst a Warrior Road-like setting. While colorful characters populate the franchise, production for Borderlands became a hellish experience, with delays, rewrites, and a lack of real stakes making the project’s success an up-dune battle.

You can currently catch Gina Gershon in the action comedy film Borderlands. But before she took on that project, she had starred in the 2023 slasher Thanksgiving, which ended up being a box office hit. Now, she's set to star in a new horror movie titled The Designer, so it doesn't look like she is quite done with the horror world just yet.
The Designer is being described as a body horror flick. It comes from American filmmaker Em Johnson, who is writing the script and will also be directing. Johnson is best known for writing and directing the drama film Balloon Animal. Incandescent Entertainment, First Bloom Films, and Hemlock Circle Productions are the production companies behind the new horror film, with Jiarui Guo, Warner Davis, and Katherine Waddell serving as producers.

Eli Roth’s Borderlands movie is exiting cinemas at some speed, as Lionsgate prepares a video on demand release within weeks.
Much has been made of the $100m asking price for the long-awaited movie adaptation of the videogame series Borderlands. The successful games though were finally turned into a film of some resources, with Eli Roth directing and co-writing the script.
Still, even though there were a few outliers, the critical consensus was that Eli Roth and his team hadn’t quite hit the mark here. Furthermore, the box office returns suggest that Lionsgate’s investment in the feature might take some time to recoup, and that the cinema days of Borderlands have come to a fairly abrupt end.
As per the modern way then, it’s perhaps unsurprising that the movie will now be leaping to premium video on demand services at some speed. While we await a UK announcement,...

Based on the action role-playing first-person video game of the same name, set in a space Western science fantasy setting, Borderlands is the newest addition to the heavily saturated video-game adaptation sub-genre. The movie is directed by Eli Roth, a filmmaker famous for his entries into the horror franchise, particularly those of an incredibly gory nature including Hostel and last year’s Thanksgiving. Starring Cate Blanchett (Tar), Kevin Hart (Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle), Jamie Lee Curtis (Halloween) and Ariana Greenblatt (Barbie), Borderlands follows a ragtag team of misfits who embark on a mission to save a missing girl who holds the key to unimaginable power. Despite boasting a competent cast and colorful visuals, Borderlands is severely let down by poor dialogue, an uninteresting story and complete ignorance of the source material.
The success of a video game adaptation largely relies on one thing – how true it stays to the lore of the game.

While filming a romantic scene for the 1988 film “Cocktail,” actress Gina Gershon had an unexpected mishap with her co-star Tom Cruise. In a recent interview, Gershon recounted how she accidentally kneed Cruise in the nose during one take.
Gershon played the role of Coral in the movie. In one scene, her character engages in a love scene with Cruise’s character. Prior to filming, Gershon had warned Cruise that she is ticklish. However, during one take Cruise grabbed her stomach, likely trying to elicit a genuine reaction. This caused Gershon’s knee-jerk reaction, striking Cruise in the face.
Though concerned she may have broken Cruise’s nose, Gershon said the actor quickly reassured her. “He was like, ‘No, no, you told me,'” recalled Gershon. Cruise took responsibility for the incident rather than blaming his co-star. Gershon added that Cruise was very considerate and protective of her throughout shooting.

Directed by Eli Roth, Borderlands is an adaptation of the popular video game series developed by Gearbox Software. Essentially an action thriller about a rag-tag gang of space mercenaries, it tries hard to generate Guardians of the Galaxy vibes, but is let down by a lack of chemistry between the cast, largely flat direction and a series of uninspired fight scenes.
The story centres on kick-ass bounty hunter Lilith (Cate Blanchett), who’s hired to find Tiny Tina (Ariana Greenblatt), the missing daughter of business tycoon Atlas, the richest and most powerful man in the universe. To do so, Lilith has to return to her home planet of Pandora, where she quickly finds Tina and discovers that she may be a long-prophesied...

In a galaxy far, far away, a psychotic wasteland dweller is strapped to a pole with explosives. Thirteen-year-old Tiny Tina comes skipping along, singing “Pop Goes the Weasel” before detonating the explosives and causing bits of the psychotic wasteland dweller to litter the landscape. She then introduces our hero to “the fine-ass ladies”—two explosive-stuffed rabbits named Mushy Snugglebites and Felicia Sexopants—who can help them with a major heist.
As juvenile as that description is, I wish I could tell you that Eli Roth’s Borderlands starts by directly copying an iconic scene from the Borderlands 2 game that introduces the ever-chaotic and maniacally performed Tiny Tina in an act of cartoonish violence. At least that would show that, like the games in the series, the film had some semblance of a personality, even if it’s a 4chan anon’s idea of one. And that would at least be...
