Svaniti nella notte (2024)
Moral of the story, don't trust an _______
American woman. Fake happinesses, fake love, reasoning none. That is basically the movie. Perhaps Renato de Maria had a similar experience and wanted to create a PSA about it lol. The only thing missing is an orchestra playing "American woman stay away from me".
There is no explanation in the film as to why the wife was so unhappy. She was a psychotherapist or perhaps just a psycho? Was it a good film? Eh not really, you do get to see a slice of life of Italy and Greece which was interesting but other than that the movie is rather B level.
Wouldn't recommend to anyone but it was something to watch and the fact that the woman was American is a weird message I have heard from a lot of foreigners in Europe and Asia. Or maybe it is just bad laws.
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (2023)
Great idea, poorly executed
Spoilers ahead
The story is there, it has everything, a cool artifact that can change the world, it's even scientific and not magic, evil Nazis, the little kid, woman and Harrison Ford combo, a classic Indie movie
But there are a lot of disappointments with this movie, both of the side characters are entirely forgettable, it has the iconic British archaeological thief who only cares about money trying to get Greek artifacts. And the kid, who is Moroccan and that's about it for his character development. Also both of their actors are quite unattractive, atleast get a cute kid.
Why are the sailors in Greece Spaniards? It also doesn't have any Greek people in it all, even Archimedes isn't Greek. What is up with that?
The history of it is stretched alooot, but it's close enough that you can get for hollywood. There is a lot of discussion about Archimedes and they tease the weapons and other devices that he made but they never show them in action. That was pretty disappointing since you heard them talk about it in 3 different languages for half an act of the movie.
Poor choice of cast is what really dragged this movie, it was one of the least attractive casts I've ever seen, it almost seems like they wanted the only good looking people to be the Nazis.
Cheong-nyeon-gyeong-chal (2017)
A good buddy cop film
There are a lot of spoilers in this.
They are not technically cops though, but that doesn't matter because this is basically a buddy cop film and it doesn't take long for you to get to the point where you like both of the main characters. It does have those moments where you say ok we get it, get to the next part like when they go out and can't get girls but that adds to their character's personality of self-less sacrifice.
The one thing that bothered me in this movie is the disciplinary action we see applied to the students for saving 20 kidnap victims who were eventually going to be murdered. The police make it seem like there are so many issues like this that they really couldn't care about 20 random homeless girls. Then when these 2 guys save them they are punished for going out of their way to save the lives of 20 underage girls. I really hated that part of this movie, it is so unrealistic and immoral and yet for some reason the only characters who supported their cause were Medusa and another board member who was also a woman. How did something like that get into the script?
