Matlock (2024)
Potential to be this years best new series
This new series has great potential with a long primary story arc. Kathy Bates character is on a quest to find the lawyer who contributed to the death of her daughter.
The ensemble cast works well with two younger associate lawyers trying to make their mark in a prestigious law firm. The head of the law firm is the father-in-law of one in the firm and the father of another member, this couple are in the midst of a divorce, and she has started quietly seeing someone else in the firm.
Bate's character states early on how she comes to so much information to help cases, simply that most people take no notice of older women, so all she has to do is put herself in the right place, then just sit back and listen. She's also a great actress, in that she is able to get people to open up with a combination of psychology and empathy, even coworkers.

Gripping story
Originally saw this when it first aired in the UK where I was living at the time. So disappointed that it's never been made available on DVD for North America.
If you ever get a chance to see it think you'll enjoy.

Interesting
My husband and I have found this new series quite entertaining. Just so you know, both my husband and I are 'white' and in our 70s. It's long overdue to have series with primary black characters. The plot is interesting, and can't what to see where to storyline goes. Hopefully it will find enough viewers to generate a second season.
