Unwelcome (2022)
Good little movie
I enjoyed this movie. I liked the setting and the use of animatronics that I haven't seen in a long time. The only part of this movie I didn't like was one of the characters and just being an out right wimp. You'll have to watch to know what I'm talking about but I can't think of anything bad as far as the movie itself. It was a good folklore/tall tale story with enough to keep you interested until the end. The beginning is a little rough but after that, it's basically just a good old fashioned creature feature which I found refreshing for these terrible times in movie making. I definitely recommend if you're looking for something not too scary but fun!
Mister White (2013)
- - - Negative stars
I couldn't even get past the opening scene. It is that bad. The acting isn't remotely even tolerable. So I cut it off as I knew what to expect for the rest of the "film". Dead Body (2017)
Typical who's the killer
This was a decent enough film. It's nothing new and it's been done 100 times before but an okay watch. I rated it a 4 because it's obvious from the beginning of the game who the killer is. If you've watched enough horror, it shouldn't take you long to figure that out. It has the same old kill scenes you've seen time and time again. They attempt to try to throw you off with fingers pointing at everyone else but again it's completely obvious who the villain is. There wasn't depth to any of the characters. The set was done well but again, I couldn't get past the the big reveal and surprise! It's exactly who you thought it was.
Dark Harvest (2023)
Middle of the road
This movie had a lot of potential but ultimately falls short. The story has been done before in different ways. It's a hodgepodge of several movies intertwined into one Pumpkinhead meets Children of the Corn meets Grease. Most of the movie is nonsensical. There's absolutely no back story. It honestly makes no sense why any of it is happening. It's forgettable and definitely won't go down as any type of "classic". I found the acting to be dull and contrived. The storyline, boring and the premise unoriginal. There's things about this film to like. The scenery and colors were great. The directing lacked direction. Seemed like a thrown together film to attempt to appease "horror" fans.
13 Minutes (2021)
Terrible
This movie was terrible. Trace Adkins does not need to ever be cast in a movie ever again. He is just blah and needs to stick to singing and being a spokesperson. The main cast, for the roles they have played in the past, must have been hard up for money. The cliches were unforgiving, the special effects were a 1 if that. It was a poorly written script acted out by some bigger names in Hollywood. The faux midwestern accents were horrendous. There is absolutely nothing positive about this movie except heed the warnings when issued. I promise, you will want your almost 2 hours of wasted life back if you watch this wreck.
Old Flame (2022)
Who is the victim?
This was strange to me. There is such up and down with the female lead you don't know if she is crazy, a compulsive liar or if she is the victim. Then there's the "predator" who I felt was telling more truth than the female. It's not a matter of always blaming the victim here, it's a matter of interpretation of what actually happened vs what each thinks happened.
Both are believable on certain levels but it's never really straightforward about what happened.
Was she really a victim or was he? It all comes down to interpretation. It's a good film I was just left feeling like she was a nutbag. I know some will disagree but that's just my take.
Captors (2020)
Zzzzzzzzx
This movie was extremely blah. It had the potential to be a really good film but is riddled with holes. None of what is going on makes any sense. It kinda reminded me of Saw. Like there was some game going on but there was no real absolution. Maybe if you dive more into it, there's something I missed but I seriously doubt it. For a storyline based on one of the horrors of the world, it falls flat. There's no redemption what so ever and I'm not sure how this movie has ratings of 10. They are obviously fake reviews. This movie was no more than a four at best. Watch if you want but don't expect some amazing psychological thriller because that it is not.
Last the Night (2022)
Disturbing and sad
This was a very disturbing and sad movie. There is such a mental health crisis in America. This movie showcases how cold people and the world can be. It touches on broken relationships, gossip and where that can lead. It's truly sad, in my opinion, how this movie went down but it also brings up an interesting thing to think about. Words hurt. Mental health is important and there should be more accessible ways to get treatment.
I didn't like how this movie played out but unfortunately, it's a sad reality in America today. It also focuses on the damage the lockdown during the "pandemic" really messed with people's heads.
Bloody Hell (2020)
Bleh! A bloody disaster!
So, this movie is considered a horror/ comedy. First off, I never laughed once. One character in particular is annoying and you really wish you could mute this person. The storyline is lacking in so many areas. It basically reminded me of TCM with Hostel elements with some Tarantino elements thrown in which results in an unrealistic mess and annoying script amongst other things. I was expecting this great ending but it doesn't have that. It was poorly written and terribly directed. It's fine to throw in for something just to watch but far from the high ratings others are giving it. I assume they just don't know better. It's entirely forgettable.
Mercy Falls (2023)
Below avg low budget "thriller".
There is not much positive to say about this film except it's location. The story, lacking. The reasoning is nonexistent. Terrible acting by everyone involved. The script is bad. I'm not sure why this has high ratings and listed as horror on Tubi because this is not horror. At most it is a contrived blah of an attempt at a thriller. I've liked most of the Tubi originals but this one just didn't do it for me. It's boring, honestly. I could not wait for it to end. It just wasn't a good movie, overall. I'm sure many will disagree. But, if you have time to kill and want something that will barely keep your attention, this is the film for you. A 3 is generous, honestly.
Luther: The Fallen Sun (2023)
The ending
First off, I really liked this film until the last 15 mins or so. I felt it was entertaining and went well enough to keep your attention. What I hated about this film is the very anti climactic ending. The build up is great only to be let down by a very rushed and boring climax. My only other complaint is the complete miss fire with the villain and the fact he looked like a washed up game show host. He just didn't fit the film so that is terrible casting. There's a few others I could call out as well. Overall, it was a good movie until it literally took a nose dive at the end. There's literally no "yes!" At the end. It just rushes and that's it.
Mayfair Witches (2023)
Boring
I CANNOT be the only one here that found this completely boring. It was like watching Twilight only with a "witch" cast. They only difference is the first episode is sparkly vampires could half way hold my attention. I understand it's more of a drama but geesh, put some kind of action in there to hold someone's attention. I rated this a five because hopefully it will pick up through the season but if the rest of the season is like this first episode, there will not be a second season. Snoozefests like this episode are like something you find on Amazon and they turn into a C rated, terrible horror film.
Nanny (2022)
Interesting
This movie is not like a "jump" scare horror flick. I found so much beauty in the lead. There was suspense and you really didn't understand the connection until the end. Being a male, I can not imagine the pain a mother must feel at times. But, though I didn't give this movie more than 5 stars, if you enjoy suspenseful/drama with a hint of horror, it's definitely worth the watch.
I only lacked a back story. You just start off with Aisha is the United States and her son in a country in Africa. It's drawn out at times and supporting characters needed more development but it's not a complete blah movie like some are saying.
The Night House (2020)
If you watch horror
Then you can basically figure this movie out. There was a twist but it wasn't exactly unexpected. It was a good movie to me just not the best. A great twist on a ghost/possession story.
Scream (2022)
Average......
This movie held so much promise but it was wasted on a weak dialect and humdrum blah. I saw the original in theaters and, I'm sorry kids, y'all missed out. (Ps. I knew the killers in the first 15 mins).
The Green Inferno (2013)
Gore is not scary
When will Hollywood learn that an hour and 15 mins of humdrum boredom aren't fixed by 45 mins of gore and label it "horror"? These people were idiots and the gore factor only proved that it was a really bad storyline.
Supernatural Academy (2022)
Great concept, woke agenda
Sadly, this is a series that could target more than the crowd it appeals to but, the wokeness again ruins everything. No one introduces themselves with "my pronouns are he/she, him/her". That's just one one the annoying wokeness factors this show attempts to force. It actually ruins it.
A Madea Homecoming (2022)
Missed the mark
Definitely not the best of the franchise but certainly not the worst. Seemed "overdone" in many scenes. Some were honestly unnecessary. But overall a 5, is suiting for this piece of the franchise.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022)
Woke stupidity
Only Netflix could take "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" and make it a film for the "woke" folk. White people are racist, guns are bad, liberal bleh. It's almost comical.
The Real World Homecoming (2021)
Gaslighting and "wokelessness"
Closeted racism for the woke agenda. Some things are left better in the past. These people are the same people. 30 years didn't change that. You have have the same misunderstandings and two way racism as you did back then. The only thing that has changed is media and politicians.
The Boy Behind the Door (2020)
Dragsssss
This movie is so drawn out with so much down time. I give a movie 30 mins to gain my interest. This one didn't do that so I turned it off. The positive reviews on here about "riveting", "edge of your seat thriller" are obviously put here on purpose. I've watched paint dry that was more "thrilling".
Dawn of the Beast (2021)
Not that bad
Honestly, this movie wasn't bad. I actually kinda enjoyed it and found it a little refreshing on the Bigfoot genre. It's not fast paced but with the watch, imo.
Finders Keepers (2018)
Ummmmm......
These have to be some of the dumbest characters in a movie. Giving this movie a 3 is extremely generous. The one give I couldn't wait to get taken care of because she caused the entire thing.
Halloween Kills (2021)
Michael is bad a.........
Michael is amazing. The first thirty minutes are non stop. It then somehow turns into a wth is going on her e fest. Completely filler non sense that added nothing to the movie. As a Halloween fan, I gave it a 6. It honestly deserves nothing more, sadly.
Anything for Jackson (2020)
Average
There's nothing good nor bad about this film. It's kinda humdrum then has an ending that is more than unfulfilled. Average is a complacent spot for this. Acting, good. Story, ok. Ending, why did I waste two hours on this?
