One More Shot (2024)
No more shots please
I just watched it because Alexis Knapp is pretty hot lol but the acting is really bad in this movie. The concept of shooting in one take is always dope but it's no True Detective or John Wick - FAR from it. Was Tom Berenger always that bad of an actor too? Anyway... this is one of those movies you have on in the background when you have people over or are doing a little "Netflix & chill". It started off with potential but never got better, just worse... I wouldn't recommend this to anyone who is an actual fan of quality movies because this is 100% not it.
The cinematography, fight scenes and makeup were decent so I'll give them that.
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (2023)
3 stars to respect the legend
You gotta pay respect to Harrison Ford by giving him his final Indy movie so I get it and that's why I won't call this a cash grab, but it was bad. The plot, the new characters, that cgi. I really don't have anything good to say. I always expected his last movie to maybe be an old Indiana Jones guiding a young protege through a new quest with some bouts of nostalgia along the way and maybe a dope grand finale as a last scene. Instead, Indy unrealistically takes on a new adventure by the brittle bones, even gets shot and time travels? The movie overall is also way too long, props to Ford for being lead and keeping up with the whole project cause it was unnecessarily long. Anyway thanks for the amazing Indiana Jones experiences Harrison Ford!! We love you but we did not love this one - at least I didn't...
NCIS: Naval Criminal Investigative Service (2003)
Never the same after...
This was the number one show for a reason back in the day. The charming, witty, dramatic, crime solving feel is what makes this such a classic. Unfortunately it dragged out wayyyyyyy too long passed its prime and became so repetitive and predictable it became boring.
Also the original cast of characters are what really made the show. It honestly was never the same after DiNozzo left and even besides that, the growth of each character is what really kept you watching - wondering what was going to happen next.
It's never got terrible but it's just more of the same now where you'll throw it on, know what you're getting and watch it mindlessly. Eh it had a good run while it lasted.
The Walking Dead (2010)
Dragged out and declined
When this first came out, I used to look forward to every episode. A group of us would get together and watch it like it was the superbowl or something... After the first 3-4 seasons, you can tell they started forcing it but because of it's popularity, they kept dragging it out season after season and even though they had the comics to follow off of, it lacked that same eerie mystery, zombie drama and overall feel it first had.
To this day I haven't even finished it. I lost interest as more community groups were getting introduced. The character deaths became extremely predictable and I honestly stopped caring who was getting killed off or not. I've tried to go back and finish it but get bored everytime. This is the most disappointed I've ever been in a show.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023)
Miles Morales is the one true Spider-Man
I loved it. I'm picky with all types of movies. I don't give anything a 10/10.. this movie is a 10/10. From the character development, soundtrack, animation effects, storyline, hidden messages, action, comedy, dramatic scenes, it has it all. It's long, maybe over 2 hours but it never got boring and when it was over I didn't want it to end. I was perfectly fine with staying another hour or so lol and I got things to do!
You're missing out if you haven't seen this one or the first one. Whether you're a fan of Marvel/ animated movies or not, it's just a perfectly executed MOVIE in general. Well done.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022)
It had its moments, but...
Another huge Dr. Strange fan who was sadly disappointed. It sucks because it had its moments but overall this movie felt like a rushed Marvel movie they just pushed out as quick as they could to introduce more characters & set up for whatever they have planned next. The plot behind Wanda's villainous acts was over exaggerated & it didn't need to cause that much of unnecessary drama.
Without spoiling anything, the Illuminati cameo was corny as hell & a cheap lazy way to show how powerful Wanda is. I like America Chavez and I like the actress they chose to play her cause she fits the mold. I just hope her acting improves for the next one she's in. She's dope but the weak acting can make it look like the director doesn't take the movie seriously which personally, can kill a good film for me.
I was really looking fwd to this and it had its moments, but overall, thumbs down.
House of the Dragon (2022)
Boring soap opera
Talk about a slow burn... this version drags indefinitely with a few exciting scenes along the way. Majority of it is just family drama, which doesn't work because the character development is so bland that you don't really connect with anybody enough to want to root for them. A dragon could've killed the whole cast off and I wouldn't care.
Don't get me wrong, this still has a lot of promise and I'm really hoping the next season (if there is one) will finally pick up the storyline and end this never ending slow burn because the potential is clearly there. As of right now though, season one was a boring soap opera to me and a bit of a disappointment.
Wednesday (2022)
A refreshing modern take on a classic
I grew up in the 90s so this was pretty cool and nostalgic for me. Jenna Ortega did an incredible job as Wednesday and though the rest of the family aren't the focus as much in this, the character cameos were enough to stay true to the Addams Family film legacy and the actors fit the roles perfectly. Obviously it was also great to see Christina Ricci and the different type of character she played in this one.
This version felt like a combination of Harry Potter, Umbrella Academy and any teenage high school film, which isn't a bad thing at all, but for someone who's almost in their mid 30s now, it was pretty predictable... still, there was some good mystery to it.
Overall, I did enjoy it a lot and it was entertaining. I will definitely be looking forward to a next season and hope to see what they come up with in the future!
Home Sweet Home Alone (2021)
A Home Alone parody
As a huge fan of the originals and since it's a staple of my childhood, I've watched all the other bad versions that came after - so I didn't expect much from this one to start with. The poor reviews are all accurate but I'll give this one an extra star because it truly just felt like a parody. It had some funny moments and honestly the movie wasn't so bad up until the booby traps. That whole part with the traps was unnecessary & like the other reviews said, it literally made you feel sorry for the "bandits".
The cast all did a good job, Ellie Kemper kept the movie alive though & the special guest appearance was probably my favorite part of the whole movie. Watch this with very low expectations and you might actually be pleasantly surprised instead of severely disappointed.
