A total of 22 former contestants from RuPaul's Drag Race (2009) appear throughout the entire series.
Some of the storylines are inspired by true events: Latrice Royale (who plays Fabergé Legs) also spent some time in prison for drug charges, Diana Ross & Oprah being RuPaul's idols and like AJ's mother, RuPaul also struggled with drug addiction where he started smoking marijuana when he was 10 although he's been sober since 1999.
