The new live-action remake of the 1986 fantasy feature “Highlander”, to be directed by Chad Stahelski (“John Wick”), starring Henry Cavill, has seen a production start delay as a result of Stahelski having to ‘fix’ the “John Wick” spinoff, “Ballerina”, originally directed by Len Wiseman (“Underworld”), with 3 months of reshoots:
“…created by screenwriter Gregory Widen, the series began with ‘Highlander’, a 1986 fantasy feature starring actor Christopher Lambert as ‘Connor MacLeod’, the Highlander.
“There have been four theatrical ‘Highlander’ films, one made-for-tv film, two live-action television series, an animated television series, an anime film, a flash animation series, original novels, Dynamite Entertainment comic books and various licensed merchandise.

Despite its somewhat wordy title, From the World of John Wick: Ballerina is generating a great deal of excitement among action fans. The first trailer impressed and, following her memorable role in No Time to Die, this feels like the perfect project to cement Ana de Armas as a badass lead.
Underworld and Total Recall helmer Len Wiseman being tapped to direct raised eyebrows from the start given his hit-and-miss track record. Now, a new report from The Wrap (via ActioNewz.com) suggests he struggled to deliver on the John Wick franchise's promise of top-notch fight scenes.
The trade reveals that John Wick franchise helmer Chad Stahelski was enlisted to reshoot the majority of Ballerina (explaining its release date delay). The filmmaker came on board to improve the action and, as a result, additional photography was extensive.
There's even chatter on social media that Stahelski could have a "Directed by" credit if he wanted.

A new report claims that reshoots on the John Wick spin-off Ballerina have been far more drastic than publicly announced.
We’ve known for some time that Lionsgate’s The World Of John Wick: Ballerina has been undergoing some changes. The John Wick spin-off film was delayed by a year, with the publicly-stated reason being reshoots of action scenes.
Chad Stahelski, director of the mainline John Wick films and overseer of the wider franchise was drafted in to help Len Wiseman (the film’s director) give those scenes the kind of bite and style that fans of the series are used to.
That’s what we were told anyway, but a new report over at The Wrap claims that the reshoots have gone far, far deeper than just reshoting some key action beats. The story claims that Chad Stahelski has actually had to reshoot most of the film and when...

When the trailer for "Ballerina" arrived, it promised action sequences that actually looked like they could hold up against those of the "John Wick" movies. The spin-off film, from director Len Wiseman, is set between "John Wick: Chapter 3 -- Parabellum" and "John Wick: Chapter 4," and stars Ana de Armas as the titular assassin, who sets out for revenge against those that killed her family. Following the lifeless, joyless, and ultimately pointless return to the Wick-verse that was "The Continental," this latest spin-off isn't exactly a guaranteed hit — even with a confirmed Keanu Reeves cameo. But again, the trailer showcased some combat sequences that suggested Wiseman has successfully aped the unique action stylings of franchise director Chad Stahelski -- meaning, "Ballerina" might just deliver on the action front (at the least).
Now, we might finally know why the action in "Ballerina" looks as high-quality and uniquely Stahelskian as it does. In...

News of the extensive reshoots for Ballerina has been at the forefront of the film’s hype since the John Wick spin-off had been delayed a year to revamp the footage that Lionsgate was not satisfied with. Earlier this year, Ian McShane, who is a staple of the Wick films and reprises his role as Winston for Ballerina, explained that the reshoots were so extensive that he even gave it the term, “new shoots.” “They’re new-shooting for Ballerina.” Then, he continues, “You know, it’s like, they’ve gotta protect the franchise. We did it about a year ago. And they’ve looked at it and Chad’s come in. And they wanna make it better cause they have to protect [the franchise].”
It was conveyed that Wick franchise director Chad Stahelski was brought in to work with Ballerina director Len Wiseman for the new shoots. Now, according to The Wrap,...

While much attention in the box office world has been on the catastrophic launch of Warner’s “Joker: Folie a Deux,” another new release this past weekend, “White Bird,” has deepened a two-month slump in theaters for distributor Lionsgate.
Beginning with the Eli Roth’s panned video game adaptation “Borderlands” in early August, the last six films from Lionsgate released in over 1,000 theaters each have grossed less than $50 million in the U.S. and Canada and have largely been critical busts. The other films include the actioner “The Killer’s Game” starring Dave Bautista, the horror title “Never Let Go” starring Halle Berry, the long-gestating remake of “The Crow” starring Bill Skarsgård and Francis Ford Coppola’s critically polarizing and audience alienating “Megalopolis.”
Lionsgate’s “White Bird,” a sequel to the inspirational film “Wonder” that hit $315 million worldwide for Lionsgate in 2017, opened last weekend in 1,018 theaters and grossed just $1.58 million. By comparison,...

With the Dceu out of the picture and James Gunn’s revamped DC Universe on the way, so seems to be a new Wonder Woman. While Gal Gadot has been widely commended for the star-studded performance she gave as Diana Prince, now speculation is rising on who could be the most immaculate replacement for her. And our top choice is nothing less than Ana de Armas.
Ana de Armas. | Credits: Ballerina/Lionsgate.
An actress with the perfect wits, charms, and acting chops required for the role, Armas inevitably checks a lot of boxes when it comes to the next likely Diana Prince portrayers. While her works are enough to show her versatility to step into a role this deep, here’s a breakdown of why we would never stop dubbing Armas one of the most perfect replacements for Gadot in the Dcu.

THR reports that Chad Stahelski is producing The Professionals. When I read the title, I initially thought this might be a remake of the 1966 Western starring Burt Lancaster and Lee Marvin, but no. The project is said to be a cross between John Wick and Clue. I can get down with that.
The film follows “a group of contract killers stranded in an English countryside estate when one of them is murdered and the remaining group has to solve the death.” Stahelski will produce alongside Alex Young and Jason Spitz, his partners at 87Eleven, as well as Jason Michael Berman and Jordan Moldo of Mandalay Pictures. Hunter Perot, grandson of the late Ross Perot, wrote the initial draft of the screenplay. Madison Turner, a stuntman-turned-writer and son of longtime stunt performer Tierre Turner, is now tackling the script.

It’s a whodunnit by way of an action movie.
Lionsgate has picked up The Professionals, an original feature for the action professionals at 87Eleven Entertainment to produce along with Mandalay Pictures.
Hunter Perot, the grandson of late business executive and presidential candidate Ross Perot, wrote the initial draft of the screenplay, which is now being penned by Madison Turner, a stuntman-turned-scribe who is the son of Tierre Turner, a stunt performer and coordinator who has worked on movies such as Training Day and is currently on 9-1-1.
The stunt connection is key, as it was one of the factors that brought the players together.
Chad Stahelski, the stunt maestro-turned-filmmaker behind the John Wick movies, is producing along with his 87Eleven partners Alex Young and Jason Spitz. Mandalay Pictures’ Jason Michael Berman and Jordan Moldo, who originated the project, are also producing.
Professionals is described as a combustible mix of Clue and John Wick.

Keanu Reeves had a wipeout of a different kind over the weekend, as the actor spun out in his pro auto racing debut during the Toyota Gr Cup in Indianapolis. Reeves had no injuries and ended up finishing 25th.
Keanu Reeves has had a number of passions outside of acting, including music, motorcycles and surfing. This foray into auto racing, however, could have been a deadly one, but thankfully Reeves got through his accident without a collision with another car or into an object and pressed on, completing the 45-minute race. Reeves has previously driven in the Toyota Grand Prix as a celebrity racer, even winning back in 2009.
Interestingly, Keanu Reeves was also promoting another project of his, Brzrkr, the comic book series he created with Matt Kindt. As it turns out, Reeves was driving the Brzrkr car. This past summer, Reeves’ novel The Book of Elsewhere was released, expanding...

Imaginary. Borderlands. The Crow. Megalopolis. 2024 has been a colossally bad year for Lionsgate Films. Whether it’s critical ratings or box office take, there’s not a lot to be optimistic about if you’re a fan or shareholder. This is too bad as Lionsgate has always been the studio I’ve always rooted for. As distributors of the Saw, John Wick, and Rambo they’ve always had an edge to them, giving smaller films a chance to reach larger audiences. And franchises like Twilight (purchased from Summit), Divergent, and Hunger Games showed their ability to make/acquire broadly appealing films. Then they’ve even gotten into the Oscar space with releases like La La Land, Knives Out, and Sicario. But it’s getting to the point where I groan every time the Lionsgate logo comes up as it’s no longer a sign of quality or fun.

Things were drastically different for Ana de Armas when she initially arrived in Hollywood. While she garnered popularity for her tenure in several Cuban and Spanish shows, she was far from the decorated Hollywood giant we know her as today. Moreover, the Knives Out star’s lack of expertise in English at the time also added to the challenge.

Lionsgate has provided the first look at its new movie “Ballerina,” a spinoff of the popular John Wick franchise. The film stars acclaimed actress Ana de Armas as Eve Maccaro, a ballerina seeking revenge for her father’s death.
“Ballerina” takes place between 2019’s “John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum” and the upcoming fourth installment in 2023. In the movie, Eve Maccaro trains as a ballerina but then becomes an assassin after her father is killed. Like in “Chapter 3,” the film will feature the assassin group called the Ruska Roma, of which ballerinas are members.
While some fans were initially confused, Eve Maccaro is an original character created for “Ballerina” and not seen before in the John Wick movies. However, the film expands upon aspects from “Chapter 3” including the Ruska Roma. The trailer also hints John Wick himself, played by Keanu Reeves, and other familiar faces like Winston and Charon, may appear...

The hot talk of the town, Ana de Armas is all set to make her debut in the John Wick universe with her upcoming Ballerina – a piece that sounds like it could soon have her career skyrocketing even further. Over the years since she debuted in Hollywood, the Cuban-Spanish stunner has scored enough groundbreaking roles to establish herself as a prominent figure in the entertainment industry.

The delayed John Wick spin-off film Ballerina finally gets a trailer, along with a rather unwieldy new title.
The saga of what is now called From The World Of John Wick: Ballerina has been a rather tricky one thus far – almost as tricky as that new title, which doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue, does it? While we understand that Lionsgate is keen to make audiences aware that the new Ana De Armas action film is connected to its series of popular John Wick action films, is that the best its marketing department could come up with?
Lionsgate’s marketing folks have already found themselves in trouble recently for relying a bit too much on AI tools and we can’t help but wonder if a machine spewed out that clumsy title too.
Anyway, silly titling aside, we’re finally getting a fresh trailer for the delayed project which...

John Wick has already made its mark on film and television. With Keanu Reeves bringing the fabled assassin alive for the first time in 2014, Baba Yaga not only became a part of modern pop culture lore but one of its most treasured fictional characters to ever grace the screens. A decade later, the universe expands to make space for more stories to dominate the vacancy left behind by Reeves’ overwhelming presence.

Ballerina now arrives to carry forward the mantle of John Wick. However, the film is hardly a continuation of the main series, let alone a follow-up of the events of the fourth and latest adventure that ended on a rather fatal note for our main protagonist. On the contrary, Ballerina serves to narrate a spin-off story splintered off from the primary timeline of events inhabited by Keanu Reeves’s doomed vigilante.

The John Wick film series is expanding with the upcoming spin-off movie “Ballerina.” Scheduled for release on June 6, 2025, the action thriller will star Ana de Armas as the new lead character Eve Macarro. Eve was formerly a ballet dancer who became an assassin seeking revenge for the murder of her family. The movie is set between the events of “John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum” and the upcoming “John Wick: Chapter 4.”
The newly released trailer introduces viewers to Eve’s backstory and shows her engaging in several intense fight scenes using ballet-inspired techniques. In one scene, Eve slices an opponent’s neck with an ice skate during a fight. Another trailer moment depicts Eve battling a flamethrower-wielding enemy with a high-powered water hose.
Fans will also get to see the return of John Wick, played by Keanu Reeves. According to screenwriter Shay Hatten, Reeves will have a substantial role and not just a cameo appearance.

The official trailer for Ballerina declares that vengeance has a new face…and that face belongs to Ana de Armas. But that doesn’t mean that this John Wick spinoff doesn’t also have an old face in it, as the trailer includes a snippet of the Baba Yaga himself, Keanu Reeves.
In addition to Ana de Armas and Keanu Reeves, the cast of the new addition to the John Wick franchise includes Anjelica Huston, Gabriel Byrne, Lance Reddick, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Norman Reedus, and Ian McShane. Len Wiseman directs from a screenplay by Shay Hatten (John Wick 3 & 4).
John Wick director Chad Stahelski serves as a producer along with Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee.

Lionsgate has released the first trailer for From The World Of John Wick: Ballerina, or John Wick: Ballerina. Most people will probably just call it Ballerina, but risk-averse Hollywood really really wants you to know it’s connected to a thing you’re already familiar with. In John Wick 3: Parabellum, there’s a scene where Wick meets Eve Macarro, a professional ballerina dancer who’s training to become an assassin like him. While a cameo from Keanu Reeves will be in the movie, along with appearances from other John Wick characters, Ballerina is all Eve’s story. You’ll find out her motive (revenge for the death of her father) and how she plans to do it (track down the criminal with a specific tattoo). The original appearance of Eve was played by someone different, but Ana de Armas (Knives Out) will assume the role in Eve’s first feature.

John Wick is all set to return to the screens with its upcoming neo-noir action thriller spin-off film, From the World of John Wick: Ballerina, and the buzz around it couldn’t be louder. Not only is it bringing back Keanu Reeves’ iconic Wick with Ana de Armas’ Rooney chasing him, but it has also brought about a glimpse of a new entry into the cast: Norman Reedus.

This pleasant surprise was delivered in an exclusively released trailer, and the impeccably designed trailer is more than enough to have fans desperately anticipating the film’s release. And yet, while Reedus’ surprising appearance was one of the things that left viewers’ jaws dropped, it wasn’t the only feature that came as a satisfying update to fans, as Lance Reddick stole the show.

Ana de Armas blends the graceful agility of ballet with the violence of hunting assassins in the first trailer for From the World of John Wick: Ballerina. In theaters June 6, the film goes back in time to recount the unseen events following 2019’s John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum as Eve Macarro (de Armas) trains to defeat the people responsible for killing her family.

After sharing a tease yesterday, Lionsgate has shared the first official trailer for their upcoming John Wick spinoff Ballerina, which stars Academy Award-nominee Ana de Armas in the lead role as a young assassin named Eve Macarro, who, after a tragedy, begins training in the ways of the Ruska Roma and plots her vengeance against those that wronged her family.
The film's official synopsis reads, "Taking place during the events of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, the film follows Eve Macarro (Ana de Armas) who is beginning her training in the assassin traditions of the Ruska Roma."
While the trailer does give us plenty of footage of the fan-favorite Cuban actress kicking all kinds of ass across the world, it wraps up with the most epic of cameos as the one-and-only Keanu Reeves reprises his iconic role as John Wick, a.k.a. Baba Yaga, and it looks like he'll...

The trailer for "Ballerina" is finally here! Oh, sorry, my mistake. The movie isn't actually called "Ballerina." It's called "From the World of John Wick: Ballerina," and before we go any further, let me just say that title stinks. Yeesh! Okay, now that that's out of the way, we're going to be calling the movie just "Ballerina." The new film is set in the John Wick universe, and introduces Ana de Armas as yet another highly-skilled assassin in a world full of highly-skilled assassins. But that's not all — Keanu Reeves' John Wick pops up in the trailer, too! Now, Reeves' presence might lead to some confusion, since the end of the incredible "John Wick: Chapter 4" really made it seem like our boy John was dead.
So how is John Wick back in this trailer? Has he been raised from the dead? Nope! As you might've guessed for yourself by now,...

Ready to dance with “Ballerina?”
The “John Wick” spin-off, set concurrently with the third movie, stars Ana de Armas as a woman looking for revenge and gets involved in the ballet school/assassin training facility run by Anjelica Huston.
(This was a minor plot point in “John Wick: Chapter 3 — Parabellum,” with de Armas’ character actually being introduced in that film, played by a different actress. You are excused if you forgot.)
The cast also features Gabriel Byrne, Norman Reedus and Catalina Sandino Moreno, alongside “Wick”-verse regulars Ian McShane, Keanu Reeves and a posthumous appearance by the great Lance Reddick. Watch the trailer below:
The trailer promises loads of the series’ signature action set pieces, this time directed by Len Wiseman, with series director Chad Stahelski serving as a producer alongside fellow “John Wick” ambassadors Erica Lee and Basil Iwanyk.

Ana de Armas is en pointe in the first trailer for Ballerina, the spinoff of the Keanu Reeves’ John Wick franchise.
De Armas stars as a ballerina turned assassin in the film, which officially is called From the World of John Wick: Ballerina. The feature has had a long road to the screen already. It initially shot in 2022, and was slated to open in June 2024. But in February, Lionsgate delayed the feature by a year to June 6, 2025, in order to allow John Wick director Chad Stahelski to assist with upping the action. He worked with Ballerina helmer Len Wiseman on new action sequences that shot this year.

"How do I start doing what you do?" Lionsgate has revealed the first official trailer for the next John Wick movie that's not actually a John Wick movie though it actually is because he's sort of in it. This action spin-off is called Ballerina, starring Ana de Armas as a ballerina-assassin named Eve. The full title of the movie is now From the World of John Wick: Ballerina and it's currently set to hit theaters everywhere in June 2025 next summer. Ana de Armas' character is a ballerina getting revenge hunting the murderers of her family. According to co-star Ian McShane, the character is under the protection of Winston & Charon in the New York Continental Hotel during most of the movie. The same character was previously portrayed by Unity Phelan in 2019's John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum and this takes place before Chapter 4. The superb supporting cast includes Anjelica Huston, Keanu Reeves,...

The long wait to find out what director Len Wiseman and Ana de Armas are cooking up with the John Wick spinoff Ballerina is finally ending. Lionsgate pulled the curtain back on a Ballerina teaser on Wednesday, paving the way for today’s release of a full trailer. Yesterday’s Ballerina teaser included a chilling rendition of Beethoven’s “Furelise” playing from a wind-up music box. As the camera slowly pans through a study crowded with books and fancy decor, a porcelain dancer spins beneath a glass dome with the words “Trailer Tomorrow” inscribed at the bottom of the keepsake. With today’s trailer, we finally get to see Ana de Armas in action as the title character – and yes, Keanu Reeves shows up for a John Wick cameo. The film has a release date of June 6, 2025.

The trailer for the long-awaited "John Wick" spin-off film "Ballerina" is finally here. Following a teaser clip that used a music box version of Beethoven's "Für Elise," the full trailer has provided a glimpse at what looks like a promising return to the Wick-verse.
"Live Free or Die Hard" director Len Wiseman is helming this latest off-shoot, which, frankly, has a lot riding on its shoulders. For a time, it seemed as though Hollywood could learn a few lessons about how to build a cinematic universe from the "John Wick" saga. But after the lifeless, pointless spin-off seres "The Continental," it started to look as though the impressive world-building of the movies could only really work in service of Keanu Reeves' relentless hit-man. What's more, the studio behind the films, Lionsgate, is coming off a string of box office duds that have put the company in serious jeopardy.

John Wick may be dead (for now), but Lionsgate‘s hit action franchise lives on with “Ballerina.” The studio drops its first teaser for next summer’s blockbuster starring Ana de Armas today, and from the looks of things it’s …exactly what “John Wick” fans expected? The interior decor, the clothing styles, and the fight scenes all have the flair of the franchise, only with a woman at the center of the revenge tale this time.

We’ve been waiting for Ana de Armas to get a proper action movie ever since she was one of the standout Bond women in “No Time to Die.” Now she’s joining another iconic action franchise: the “John Wick” universe.
“Ballerina,” a spinoff movie within the “John Wick” franchise, has finally landed a trailer from Lionsgate. The long-awaited project originated as an original story by screenwriter Shay Hatten back in 2017; the script was re-written to bring it into the “Wick” universe of assassins. The titular ballerina killer was briefly introduced in “John Wick 3: Parabellum.”
Unlike Peacock’s “Wick” prequel series “The Continental,” “Ballerina” is set in between the events of the third and fourth “John Wick” movies and even features brief appearances from both Keanu Reeves and the late Lance Reddick.
Ana de Armas is out for revenge in the first trailer for “Ballerina,” the “John Wick” spinoff set to release on June 6, 2025.
In the action thriller, de Armas plays Eve Macarro, a Ruska Roman ballerina seeking retribution against a group of hitmen who murdered her family. “Ballerina” takes place in between the events of “John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum” and “John Wick: Chapter 4,” spotlighting the female assassin who made only a brief appearance in the third “Wick” movie and was originally played by Unity Phelan.
The trailer shows the origins of de Armas’ Eve, who’s on her own quest for vengeance. She kicks plenty of ass, slices someone’s neck with an ice skate and douses a flamethrower with a high-powered hose. At the end of the trailer, she even meets Baba Yaga himself, John Wick.
“Ballerina” will also feature franchise leader Keanu Reeves as Wick. As writer Shay Hatten told Collider,...
