I just discovered this series on the PBS Passport site, and I was hooked from the beginning. The concept of the series is that after a brief chance encounter in a Prague airport, main characters Massimo and Candela return to their home cities of Rome and Seville but can't stop thinking about one another. Each begins having recurring hallucinations or visitations by the other that no one else can see. These recurring hallucinations draw the two closer and closer despite their being over 1000 miles apart.
The chemistry between the two lead characters is very good, and Megan Montaner is especially memorable in her role as flamenco teacher Candela. Her character is fiery and passionate, just as one might expect from a hot-blooded flamenco dancer.
During their real and imaginary interactions, which are often full of rapid-fire dialog, Massimo speaks in Italian and Candela in Spanish, yet they understand each other perfectly. I suspended my disbelief, and just enjoyed the melody and cadence of both languages. Despite a few plot twists that made me roll my eyes, I kept coming back episode after episode. And I don't regret it for a moment.
