Rather a slog for the first hour and a half but it comes together somewhat in the final 15 minutes. Too little--too late, as I see it. Juliette Lewis, as usual, brings lots of life to the screen in her role. Overall, the plot and the characters here are too disjointed and not developed enough to have the dramatic impact it might have had.
To note: there were no subtitles available on my DVD copy.

When the overall story is weak, actors could only do so much. I liked the message in the end hence 5 stars out of 10.
Nothing much at all happens in this movie. as for his premonitions there are only about 3 in the whole film. it's not really about that. it's more about his boring day to day life. i really can't say much in favour of this movie but the acting was good. story line pathetic.

This film takes you through the journey of characters as they discover their relevance in their world, their vulnerability, humanity and sexuality. The characters in the film are vulnerable, grounded and all play an important role in bringing the story come to life. I especially loved the relationship Luke had with his mother "Juliette Lewis" The chemistry between Cameron and Peyton also felt very honest and the storyline left you with the feeling that all the events could actually happen. Really liked the storyline between the two friends Cameron and Grayson and the ending really gave you a feeling that something good can still come out of the most difficult of circumstances. Also loved the 90's theme as I grew up in this era and the music, scenery, wardrobe etc gave an authentic feeling of that time period.

This film perfectly captures the early meta-years so many hold so dear. the performance from peyton was outstanding, and truly one which came from the heart and resonates with you there. I felt so deeply the lose, and even more so at his predictions. I loved this film and its ability to speak directly to a zeitgeist idea, and upholds those ideal all the same in its structure, I am very impressed.
My head is shaking - this film so does not deserve a low score - the adaptation is top class and the acting is exceptional - the young leads are a lovely surprise - some of the themes in this are grim so it is not a film for tweens or young teens and it may be triggering for some - but a contemporary work of art that celebrates the need to find your voice, discover your gifts and understand the great value we each bring to the world :)
I absolutely loved this movie. The soundtrack alone is just amazing. Luke's character is, I think, relatable to every teenager who ever felt misunderstood, or misplaced, or had a hard time fitting in. And their heartbreaking friendship with Fang, the loss of innocence - it is just beautiful.

Great music, taking us back to the 90's
Sweet story of love, friendship and the mystical.
Reminds me of the Rumblefish or Wanderers era
Cameran Monaghan is great and Juliette Lewis reminds us why we love her so much.

I really enjoyed everything about thus film. I LOVED Cameron Monaghan & Juliette Lewis as his mom. The girl lead was incredible. The acting across the board was so good, the story was so real it felt at times like I was back in the 90s hanging with my little brother & his friends. I also LOVED the soundtrack! Kudos to the music supervisor! Great film!

This movie contains everything a teen movie should have. The script, plot, and storyline isn't common and is super entertaining for older teens and young adults. Besides that, the music, theme, and aesthetic of the film is fantastic/beautiful. Amazing casting as well.

Love this movie, so well written, acted & directed. While dark at times, this movie leaves you inspired and uplifted!
To boot, a great learning opportunity for parents to watch with their teenagers!

Anthem brought a fresh take on the YA genre. The performances were superb and the characters very well-rounded. Highly recommend!

I just saw this movie. It was very good! Cameron Monaghan is superb and cute as the main character Luke Hunter, a sensitive, normal teenage boy who begins having vivid premonitions of individuals' deaths. Juliette Lewis is also great as Luke's mom. This movie had such a heart-warming mother-son relationship! We need more close attachments such as this one portrayed on screen. I found the movie to be very meaningful with its theme of death and looking out for each other. It keeps you wondering , and unlike most adolescent cinema, it is not all darkness and loneliness. Satisfying, with a message of wisdom!
