Paris-based Federation Studios has revealed a brace of new series at the Taiwan Creative Content Fest.

During a presentation at Tccf, Federation Studios president Pascal Breton said that a show from “The Bureau” creator Eric Rochant is in the works. Espionage thriller, “The Bureau” has been remade for the U.S. as “The Agency.” The new iteration will be “partly shot in Taiwan, partly in Europe and the Middle East,” Breton said.

“And this show will be English-speaking. This show will be global, and that’s where there could be a very interesting cooperation between Taiwan and France. That’s where we would create a new subsidiary of Federation in Taipei, and that’s where we want to create, new seasons of a new show that could become another hit globally, [the] first global show that we produce, and then maybe an American version of it,” Breton added.

The 10th edition of Rome’s Mia Market wrapped on Friday with organizers recording a 10% bump in attendance over the 2023 edition, welcoming more than 2,800 participants from 60 countries to the Eternal City for five days of pitching sessions, panel discussions and heated debates over the current state of and future prospects for the global film and TV industries.

Federation Stories U.K. has appointed Beth Warin as the new head of development for the company. Warin will work alongside Polly Williams, managing director, and will be responsible for the company’s international drama production slate.

Warin joins from the BBC where she was drama commissioning executive, supporting commissioning editors Jo McClellan and Gaynor Holmes editorially across their slates including “Lockerbie” and “The Night Manager” Season 2.

Federation Stories’s recent credits includes “I, Jack Wright,” a British family drama series created by Chris Lang and starring John Simmy. The banner also has projects in development with broadcasters in the U.K., the US and Europe.

Created three years ago, Federations Stories is the U.K. office of European production studio Federation Studios. The U.K. outpost was set up by two former eOne executives Arielle Gottlieb and Williams. Gottlieb exited the company in February as part of a restructure.

Exclusive: European streamer SkyShowtime will capitalize on the success of Yellowstone with the addition of upcoming sequel series The Madison to its lineup.

The streamer shared details of its forthcoming lineup with Deadline, revealing a variety of premium U.S. and international series and movies.

SkyShowtime is a joint-venture between Paramount and Comcast and available in over 20 territories in Europe. Earlier this year, its CEO, Monty Sarhan talked up “the year of Yellowstone” and the SVOD service will duly bolster its line-up with the Michelle Pfeiffer-starring sequel The Madison. It will also have season two of the prequel series 1923, starring Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren. No TX date was given for Taylor Sheridan’s The Madison, which is expected to premiere in 2025.

French-American actor and director Julie Delpy has tackled culture clash in comedies before in ”Two Days in Paris” and “Two Days in New York,” but it’s never been as poignant as in “Meet the Barbarians,” where she explores the journey of a Syrian family who find refuge in a village in Northern France.

The movie, which marks Delpy’s feature comeback after helming the Netflix series “On the Verge,” is set in Paimpont, a small town in France’s Brittany region that is preparing to welcome Ukrainian refugees. At a recent masterclass event in Venice, veteran actor Richard Gere shared behind-the-scenes stories from his illustrious film career spanning decades. Now 73 years old, Gere sat down to discuss some of his most memorable roles with fans who came to celebrate his birthday and learn more about the filmmaking process.

One role he focused on was Julian in “Pretty Woman.” During a showing of the famous piano scene with co-star Julia Roberts, Gere admitted there was real “chemistry” between them. However, he revealed the scene was never planned – it emerged from improvisation after the director suggested exploring his character. This unexpected moment added new depth, allowing Roberts’ character to see Julian differently.

Gere also described his character as “criminally underwritten” at first, meant only to look good. But the piano scene demonstrated a “mysterious yearning and maybe damaged quality” that expanded him. The actor enjoyed exploring characters in an organic way versus strictly following scripts.

The Oscar-nominated actors filmed a few late-night scenes for their upcoming Showtime series The Agency on Wednesday (August 7) in London, England.

For their time on set, Michael, 47, sported a black jacket and jeans while Jeffrey, 58, wore a gray, plaid suit.

The upcoming spy thriller, which was previously titled The Department, is being executive produced by George Clooney and is based on the French spy series The Bureau.

Jodie Turner-Smith has joined the cast of the upcoming espionage series “The Agency” at Paramount+ With Showtime.

She will star in the series, which is based on the French series “Le Bureau des Legendes,” alongside previously announced cast members Michael Fassbender, Jeffrey Wright and Richard Gere.

Turner-Smith (Queen & Slim, The Acolyte) will play Sami Zahir, a professor of social anthropology who has a history with Martian.

Gottlieb and fellow former Entertainment One exec Polly Williams set up the U.K. office of European production studio Federation Studios three years ago with the aim of working with top drama creatives, especially female ones, to make high-end content for a global audience.

Gottlieb, who was previously VP of scripted at eOne where she worked on shows including “Dublin Murders” and “The Sister,” took on the mantle of creative director at the new shingle while Williams, eOne’s fomer head of scripted, became managing director.

Paramount+ has signed a new operative for its CIA thriller The Agency.

Jeffrey Wright has joined the series, which has begun production in London. He’ll star opposite Michael Fassbender, who plays an agency operative called in from an undercover assignment. The series (formerly titled The Department) is based on the acclaimed French drama Le Bureau des Legendes and will stream on the Paramount+ With Showtime premium tier.

The role is the second high-profile TV job Wright has landed in the past month. He’s also set to join season two of HBO’s The Last of Us as Isaac, the leader of a militia group (Wright also voiced the character in The Last of Us Part II video game). The Agency will reunite Wright with his Syriana co-star George Clooney, who’s an executive producer.
