More than it's shown,
This movie might seem like another extraterrestrial movie about saving the world and all that but if you dig and think a little deeper the movie really blooms and shows it's true colours. It's a representation of our world, the epidemic is the hate and violence circulating and spreading throughout our society, the monochrome style symbolises how dull and numb we've become to feelings and emotions. The idea of colonising Mars symbolises a promise that will never be fulfilled, a perfect civilisation that will never be achieved, the end to our problems. This is a Russian film but I feel like it not only symbololises the reality in Russia but also the world. Overall a decent film.
