The fourth and final season of the CW’s Superman & Lois will debut sooner than expected. The CW has made a change on the network’s fall schedule, with Superman & Lois and new wild west unscripted series The Wranglers moving from Thursday to Monday, swapping nights with the upcoming game shows Scrabble and Trivial Pursuit, which had originally been slated for Mondays.
The move is believed to be in response to ABC creating a 8 Pm – 10 Pm game show block on Mondays with Celebrity Wheel Of Fortune and Press Your Luck which would’ve gone head-to-head with the CW’s game shows. With Tuesdays and Fridays spoken for with the live WWE Nxt and Inside The NFL, the network didn’t have many nights to work with.
With the change, the CW series also are getting new, earlier premiere dates.

There just aren’t enough drama reruns in the world to keep TNT afloat in its current state, so Warner Bros. Discovery is changing things up. Really, it’s turning back the clock.
As first reported by the Wall Street Journal and confirmed by IndieWire, Wbd is looking to bring original scripted drama back to TNT, which, when it wasn’t airing live sports, had become a dumping ground for drama reruns and action films. The company will also open the WB movie library to reboot several films as made-for-tv movies or series for TNT. We’re probably not going to get a “Batgirl” or “Coyote vs. Acme” series.
Why the reversion in strategy? Well, Warner Bros. Discovery recently lost its most-valuable asset, the NBA, to Amazon Prime Video (essentially). An NBA-less TNT just does not command the roughly $3-per-customer rate that cable providers pay Wbd. That’s quite pricey — but it’s no ESPN.

The Librarians: The Next Chapter is landing on a new home! Find out where the sequel series is heading!
It’s no secret that The CW has had its share of issues in the last few years. The sale to Nexstar has led to a new direction for the network, which involves canceling practically every original series it once had, from the Arrowverse to Walker.
The CW now appears to only want scripted fare from other countries like Canada or the UK such as Wild Cards and the upcoming Joan. Their slate is more focused on reality TV and sports.
Among the shows intended to debut this fall was The Librarians: The Next Chapter. The franchise began in 2004 with a TV movie starring Noah Wyle as a scholar whose new job at the New York Metropolitan Library is a cover for him discovering magical artifacts around the world. It was...

The Librarians: The Next Chapter has a new home. Less than a week after The CW pulled it from its fall lineup, the sequel series is headed to TNT. At that time, it was unclear if the network planned to air the sequel spin-off at a later date.
The series is a spin-off of The Librarians, which had a four-season run on before it ended in 2018. Callum McGowan, Jessica Green, Olivia Morris, Bluey Robinson, and Caroline Loncq star in the sequel series, with Christian Kane reprising his role from the original series. In the show, The Librarians are an ancient organization that's dedicated to protecting our world from a magical and fantasy-like secret reality.

The fantasy series “The Librarians” is making a comeback on its original network TNT. The cable channel will air a new spinoff titled “The Librarians: The Next Chapter.” This comes as a surprise, as the CW network had recently renewed the show.
Dean Devlin, executive producer of the series, got a call from Sam Linsky at TNT. Linsky worked on “The Librarians” since it started on TNT in 2004. He told Devlin that TNT missed the show. This led to talks of bringing it back. Devlin said moving the show required “a little coordination,” but everyone agreed to the change.
The deal between TNT, CW, and Electric Entertainment is unique. TNT will produce original scripted programming again after a break. Also, this makes CW a production studio for the first time. Brad Schwartz, president of CW, said fans will love the next chapter.
“The Librarians: The Next Chapter” will have two 12-episode seasons on TNT.

The Librarians’ journey has become a real page-turner.
One week after The CW confirmed that The Librarians: The Next Chapter — its continuation of the TV-movie franchise that begat a four-season TNT series — had been unceremoniously pulled from its fall schedule, the Wall Street Journal is reporting that the series has been acquired by TNT, as one small part of the cabler’s mission to beef up its depleted drama slate.

The Librarians, which started as a series of three TV movies starring Noah Wyle for TNT in 2004, is heading home, twenty years later.
Earlier this morning, it emerged that The Librarians: The Next Chapter, a spinoff to the series that ran for four seasons through 2018, would air on TNT, rather than The CW, which originally greenlit the show around May 2023.
Deadline can reveal that the show has also been handed a two-season order, which includes a first season of 12 episodes that has already been shot and is currently in post-production, as well as a second season. The first season will premiere in 2025.
The move was a surprise for a number of reasons, most notably that the Warner Bros. Discovery network was returning to original scripted series, after a few years out of the game.

Warner Bros. Discovery’s lawsuit to keep the NBA is ongoing, but if it fails the channel will need new programming options in 2025.
What’s next for TNT? That question is on the minds of many TV and entertainment industry observers these days, and it’s a fair one. TNT will continue to air live NBA games this season, but starting in 2025 there’s a good chance the cable network will lose its NBA rights to Amazon’s Prime Video. An ongoing lawsuit to try to stop that from happening has not yet been decided, but it appears that Warner Bros. After taking a $9.1 billion write-down on its linear networks business, in part due to the company’s loss of NBA rights, Warner Bros. Discovery is ramping up its investment in programming for TNT.
The cable network has greenlit “Debriefing the President” (working title), a four-hour miniseries about CIA analyst John Nixon’s 2003 interrogation of Saddam Hussein, in which he learned about the potential consequences of the invasion, the humanitarian horrors and geopolitical turbulences that would follow Saddam’s deposing.
The series is produced by Ar Content and Big Dreams Entertainment for TNT. Alexander Rodnyansky, Joel Kinnaman, Stuart Manashil, Michael Kupisk, Peter Gerwe, Shelley Browning, and Leslie Greif serve as EPs, while Cristi Bostanescu and Eric Tomosunas serve as producers and Krzysztof Skonieczny directs.
TNT has also acquired “The Librarians: The Next Chapter,” a sequel to supernatural adventure series “The Librarians.” The project was initially set to lead The CW’s 2024-25 fall season.

“The Librarians: The Next Chapter” is heading home to TNT.
The spinoff series was originally slated to air on The CW this fall, but it was reported last week that the show had been pulled from the broadcaster’s schedule.
Now, the Wall Street Journal reports that the series will air on TNT instead. It marks a homecoming of sorts for the series, which serves as a followup to the series “The Librarians,” which was itself a spinoff of the “Librarian” TNT film series starring Noah Wyle. Exclusive: TNT has greenlighted four-hour miniseries Debriefing the President (working title), about the 2003 interrogation of deposed Iraqi president Saddam Hussein, to air in 2025. This marks the cable network’s first original scripted order since the 2022 Warner Bros.-Discovery merger. The news comes two weeks after Wbd took a $9.1 billion write-down on its cable assets and a week after the company announced that Kathleen Finch will be retiring as chairman and CEO of U.S. Networks, with Channing Dungey, Warner Bros. Television Group Chairman and CEO, adding the linear networks to her purview.
TNT has no current original scripted shows after all remaining ones at the time of the merger have been canceled. The plan to bring back original scripted programming to the network had been put in motion by Finch, including the greenlight for Debriefing the President, which comes from independent production companies Ar Content and Big Dreams Entertainment.

Something went viral on social media over the last week, and I kind of hate it.
The video is a faux trailer for a “live-action” movie adaptation of The Simpsons, featuring a succession of famous actors as the main Simpsons characters.
Amongst those at play are Adam Sandler as Homer Simpson, and Kristen Wiig as Marge. Jacob Tremblay “plays” Bart, McKenna Grace portrays Lisa, and Will Ferrell stands in for Ned Flanders.
Steve Buscemi plays C. Montgomery Burns, Neil Patrick Harris as Smithers, Ben Stiller as Moe, and John C. Reilly as Barney. Steve Carell is Principal Skinner, Zach Galifianakis is Chief Wiggum, and Kumail Nanjiani is Apu.

If you were looking forward to watching The Librarians: The Next Chapter this fall you’ll have to wait a bit longer. The Librarians spinoff, which was slated to premiere October 24 on The CW, is being held indefinitely, Deadline confirmed.
The news follows CW’s announcement of its new unscripted series The Wranglers, which follows the personal and professional lives of young staff members working at the Circle Bar Dude Ranch in Montana, will premiere in The Next Chapter‘s previous Thursday 9 p.m. timeslot beginning October 24.
From writer and executive producer Dean Devlin, The Librarians: The Next Chapter is a spinoff of the original TV series The Librarians, which followed the adventures of the custodians of a magical repository of the world’s most powerful and dangerous supernatural artifacts. The new series centers on a “Librarian” (McGowan) from the past, who time traveled to the present and now finds himself stuck here.

“The Librarians: The Next Chapter” is no longer scheduled to air on The CW this fall, Variety has confirmed.
The series was originally slated to debut on the broadcast network on Oct. 24 following “Superman & Lois.” However, The CW announced instead that the docuseries “The Wranglers” will air in the 9 p.m. timeslot on Oct. 24. No new premiere date has been set for “The Librarians: The Next Chapter” at the time of this publishing.
The series served as a spinoff of the TNT series “The Librarians,” which was itself a spinoff of the “Librarian” TNT film series starring Noah Wyle. The new show was first announced at The CW in 2023.
As with the original series and films, the show centers on the people responsible for maintaining the mythical Library, which serves as a storehouse for powerful and dangerous artifacts.
“The Next Chapter” stars Callum McGowan, Jessica Green, Olivia Morris, and Bluey Robinson.

The CW is bulking up its roster of scripted series — and again looking north of the border for its two latest shows.
The Nexstar-owned broadcast network has ordered dramas titled Wild Cards and Sight Unseen, targeting both for premieres in 2024. Wild Cards, starring Riverdale alum Vanessa Morgan and Giacomo Gianniotti (Grey’s Anatomy, Reign), is a co-production between The CW and Canada’s CBC, while Sight Unseen is in partnership with Bell Media’s CTV. Both are produced by Blink49 Studios and Front Street Pictures; Sight Unseen is also produced by Sisters Troubetzkoy Productions.
