Featured review
I warn ahead of this review that I did not see this before the film itself, so my low opinion of it may affect how I feel about this. I shall try to remain objective, to not let my personal view affect my attempt at describing this in a way that people who are not, in fact, me, can understand what it's like. It's a documentary, well, an episode of a show of such, each on a specific movie, in this case, 10.000 B.C., and I caught this on TV, not on a DVD, but the Trivia, at the time I write this, mentions a release that it is on, and I see no immediate reason to not believe that. It consists of behind-the-scenes footage, animatics, interviews and clips from the final product. It's well-edited, paced equally sharply and a good fifteen minutes of infotainment. The aim of this is to get you psyched for the flick, and hey, I'd be lying if I said it didn't grab me at least some of the time. They go into how certain special effects were achieved, what kind of stories Emmerich does and similar topics. They include several enticing bits, and give the audience a taste of what they can expect. And as the trailer did, it makes these look fun and engaging, and I would suggest anyone to consider waiting for a free(and legal, of course) way to watch the feature itself, if they simply must, so they at least won't risk wasting anything other than however many minutes last before they decide that life is too short... and hey, if that moment never comes, if you love it start to finish, good for you, I'm not trying to pick a fight or criticize anyone's tastes. And as for this, it accomplishes what it sets out to, it makes you want the rest of what you get a glimpse of(and it contains parts I did not see in the ads). I recommend this to anyone who enjoys that which gets people going to cinemas, whether it be to take it in, or to explore and examine it. 7/10
