Román Zaragoza is a rising star.
As part of the uber-popular CBS comedy, Ghosts, Zaragoza's Sasappis is a no-nonsense voice of reason who likes to stir the pot occasionally. A cynic at heart, Sas stands out amongst the assorted group of ghosts, and Zaragoza plays him to perfection.
As we near the end of Ghosts Season 2, Zaragoza jumped on a call with us to discuss the series as a whole, his brilliant character, representation, and so much more.
Zaragoza was as pleasant as they come and so much fun to speak with, full of mirth, positivity, and kindness. We got a chance to really get to know the young actor, so grab some popcorn and check out this enchanting chat!
Firstly, I wanted to say congratulations on the third season pickup of Ghosts.
Thank you. Thank you so much.

Were you as shocked as we were while watching “The Masked Singer” on March 29 to discover that the celebrity competing as the Doll was a man? When the character first appeared onstage at the start of the 80’s Night episode, we thought it was a woman hiding inside this elaborate costume. Only when we heard the Doll sing “Don’t You (Forget About Me)” by Simple Minds did we realize that we had been duped.
The judges were just as surprised as we were. By the time the Doll sang “Hungry Like the Wolf” by Duran Duran in the Battle Royal against Scorpio, we were focused on figuring out the name of the fellow that had fooled us. We’ve rewatched both of his performances and his clues package. Forget those guesses by them that Doll is Sebastian Bach, Gene Simmons or Donnie Wahlberg. We are sure we’ve know Doll’s true identity.

Now in its third week of release here in the United States, Scream VI has found itself in the #4 spot on the domestic box office charts, scaring up $89.9 million to date (domestically).
Worldwide, Scream VI has slashed its way into $139.2 million, officially passing the worldwide total of last year’s Scream – which ended its run with a total of $137.7 million.
The number to beat in that department is still Wes Craven’s original Scream movie, which hit a franchise-high $173 million when all was said and done back in 1996.
Stay tuned… and you can probably expect a Scream 7 announcement soon…
Meagan wrote in her review of Scream VI, “This slasher sequel lets a ruthless Ghostface loose in the city, slicing up an intense, flawless entry that continues the streak of insightful introspection while escalating the thrills, kills, humor, and heart to a breathless degree.”

One week after scoring the franchise’s highest opening weekend to date, the Radio Silence-directed Scream VI has now passed $100 million at the worldwide box office.
As of this morning, Scream VI has amassed a worldwide total of $116 million – the domestic total at this time is $76 million – which makes it the fifth movie in the slasher franchise to hit that $100 million mark. The only film in the franchise that didn’t quite reach those heights was Wes Craven’s Scream 4 back in 2011, which ended its worldwide run with $97 million.
Scream VI is on track to pass Scream 2022’s worldwide total of $137 million, and if it can pass the original movie’s $173 million it’ll be the highest grossing Scream movie to date.
Stay tuned… and you can probably expect a Scream 7 announcement soon…

Ghostface is back on the big screen with the release of Scream VI in theaters nationwide, and Thursday’s opening night numbers suggest it’s another massive win for the franchise.
In 3,125 theaters here in the United States, Scream IV scared up $5.7 million on Thursday night, with the film expanding to 3,675 theaters across the United States beginning today.

According to Variety, Scream VI is currently tracking to end the weekend with $35 to $40 million, but it’s entirely possible that the final number could far surpass $40 million.
These numbers would give Scream VI the franchise’s biggest opening weekend to date.
Here are the domestic opening numbers for each of the previous movies…
Scream (1996) – $6 million Scream 2 (1997) – $32 million Scream 3 (2000) – $34 million Scream 4 (2011) – $18 million Scream (2022) – $30 million...

In the wake of this morning’s official teaser trailer, Entertainment Weekly just ran a chat with the directors of Scream VI, and in the piece they dropped a brand new image from the film.
The image gives us a nice clear look at the latest Ghostface killer’s cracked and weathered mask, a new take on the iconic costume that the filmmakers tease in their chat with EW.
“It will all make sense in the context that you see it in the movie,” co-director Tyler Gillett explains to EW. “That was another one of the really interesting risks and creative approaches in this movie. It’s meta in a different way, and the mask very much factors into that.”
“It was not an arbitrary choice,” adds co-director Matt Bettinelli-Olpin.

In a city of millions… no one hears you scream. Paramount has just unleashed the first teaser trailer for Scream VI this morning, and it plays up the franchise’s fresh new setting.
This time around, a killer wearing the Ghostface getup is stalking the survivors of the previous movie in New York City, and this first teaser plays out like an homage to the original teaser trailer for Jason Takes Manhattan. If you look closely, you can even spot a Jason mask…
On top of the NYC setting, it looks like Scream VI is also set around Halloween, and the teaser features Halloween costumes paying tribute to Ready or Not, The Babadook, and Hellraiser as well. When everyone is wearing a costume, how do you know who’s looking to kill you?

Few makeup and special effects artists in the world of horror hold the same film pedigree and name recognition as Tom Savini, whose bloody prosthetics helped define a generation of gore and guts. Savini is most known for his collaborations with fellow horror legend George A. Romero, starting with the cult vampire film "Martin" but getting his true big breakout with the groundbreaking "Dawn of the Dead." After years of creating some of the gnarliest kills and the grisliest creatures, Savini took a quick break to share his nightmares with a more child-friendly audience in the '90s television show for PBS, "Ghostwriter."
Savini's experiences in the Vietnam War as a combat photographer informed his special effects, lending a macabre sense of realism to his work and making him a prime candidate for '80s slasher films like the original "Friday the 13th" and cult classics "The Burning" and "The Prowler.

Satan’s Slaves: Communion, or Pengabdi Setan 2: Communion if you prefer, is the newest film from Indonesian writer/director Joko Anwar, It’s no secret I’m a fan of his work and with it being three years since his last film, Impetigore, I was quite ready to see his sequel to the film that brought him international attention, Satan’s Slaves.
The film opens in 1955 with Budiman, the journalist from the first film, being brought to a local observatory where several corpses are arranged as if they were at prayer. There are lots of footprints leading from the cemetery to the building, and the corpses all have muddy feet. The government wants to cover it up but one local official asks him to get the word out.

Following Variety‘s exclusive report in December, Apple is officially announcing its multi-year content partnership with David Ellison’s Skydance Animation.
The agreement, which includes the previously announced feature films “Luck” and “Spellbound,” will also include what Apple billed as “first-ever theatrical-quality animated television series” for Apple TV Plus subscribers.
Skydance Animation is a division of Ellison’s Skydance Media, which is run by John Lasseter and president Holly Edwards. The deal reunites Lasseter with the Cupertino giant decades after he founded Pixar with the late Steve Jobs.
The first series up is “The Search for WondLa,” which scored a two-season order to start, based on the beloved book series by Tony Diterlizzi. The Apple original will be written and executive produced by showrunner Lauren Montgomery, with Chad Quant, Diterlizzi, and Gotham Group also serving as executive producers. Several other titles are expected to be announced in the coming months.

Looks like Apple got the hint after that “It’s a Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” backlash, because the tech giant revealed Wednesday it’s bringing “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving” and “A Charlie Brown Christmas” back to broadcast TV this holiday season — just not back on ABC.
Per Apple, in addition to the holiday specials based on Charles M. Schulz’ “Peanuts” cartoon streaming on their new home Apple TV+, Charlie Brown’s Thanksgiving and Christmas classics will air ad-free on PBS and PBS Kids on Nov. 22 and Dec. 13, respectively, at 7:30/6:30c.
Apple picked up the overall rights to the “Peanuts” specials in early October in an expanded deal with WildBrain which will allow them to make new specials, too. As a result of that pact, “It’s a Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” — and its fellow “Peanuts” classics — became an Apple TV+ exclusive and did not air on broadcast TV...
