Hey! I was told I didn't need to see part 1 before seeing part 2, but part 1 has The Rock, Ashley Judd and Julie Andrews (?!) And this one has the single biggest reason Cars 2 is the all-time WORST Pixar movie.
Eh. It's harmless. I'm shocked it was rated PG and not G. This is absolutely meant for the under 5 crowd...which is why I awarded this movie 5/10. It's perfect for that age group.
Not to mention, it's good this WASN'T an adult-version of the fairy tale. It would be A LOT creepier with this enormously hairy and dirty middle-aged man sneaking into kid's rooms at night - not to mention randomly hugging and kissing random kids unrelated to him. Also, there would be SO MANY scenes of homophobia, I would've demanded my rental price back.
Larry the Cable Guy does no cable work here but he does turn into the title character because he inadvertently made a child not believe in the Tooth Fairy. Meanwhile, he's trying to mature to win back his ex from the film's mustache-twirling villain.
Admittedly, I am NOOOO Larry the Cable Guy fan, nor any of his redneck brethren but he did fine here for the material given to him (and again for the age demographic.) I will say, they really needed to avoid any closeups of his disgustingly dirty hands and so much body hair. The rest of the cast is fine, though I really didn't like the character he's wooing. Larry had the chance to win a brand-new car, but to do so may have caused the couple to be a few minutes late to a 1-year-old's birthday party. The kid can wait, for Pete's sake. Also didn't help they had ZERO chemistry.
There are MANY plot holes and inconsistences, granted. Still, it's a toddler movie, so maybe it wouldn't matter to the kids? Actually, I don't agree with that. The script did need just one more re-write and then the parents wouldn't have to explain to their kids why so flaws were obvious.
Again, it's sitcom, Rated-G humor and I'm sure toddlers will find this very amusing. Heck, I even laughed a couple of times. Reminded me so much of the love I had for Ernest P. Worrell and his first four movies when I was a kid.

Final Thoughts: And talk about true love. This movie and its original always flew under the radar for me. Not my type of movies I suppose. But my love asked me to watch this for the message. Now, I'm still trying to find the message... Just kidding! It's about chicken and if you eat enough of it, you'll turn into a fairy. Well, Tooth Fairy, anyways. I think that's the morale. Or dilemma. What did I just watch?
