Professor Cha is a brilliant thoracic surgeon with an arrogant, icy and clinical personality. Go Eun Tak is a genius intern with a warm, cheerful, and mischievous personality. He is also the son of the director of the hospital with no practical skills. On his first day, Go Eun Tak annoys Professor Cha by questioning his arrogance. Professor Cha retaliates by embarrassing his intern during surgery. After performing surgery on his ex-girlfriend's father, against his own advice, he rushes out for unknown reasons and gets in a car accident.

Professor Cha has trouble adjusting to being a "coma ghost". He meets the chairman, whom he operated on last (also as a "coma ghost). He begins to suspect that something went deliberately wrong after the surgery. He also meets another ghost that helps explain the rules of what he needs to do to stay alive.

The hospital holds a conference to determine what went wrong with the chairman's surgery. Professor Cha is ready to take over Go Eun Tak's body to make him confess. At the last moment, Go Eun Tak revealed that he never gave the chairman heparin, and the nurse confirms this. The Vice President of the hospital, Go Eun Tak's brother, attempts to transfer Professor Cha. Go Eun Tak stalls for time by moving his bed, until he is caught by his brother. However, Dr. Jang, the ex-girlfriend and chairman's daughter, claims Dr. Cha as her patient. It is also revealed that Dr. An is the one that administered the heparin and then hid from receiving calls from the emergency room.

Using Dr. Cha's hands, Go Seung Tak saves someone on the street with scissors, soju, and a straw. Flashbacks reveal some of the past between Dr. Cha and Dr. Jang. During another emergency surgery, Dr. Cha discovers that Go Seung Tak can hear him.

Seung Tak has no other option but to ask Young Min for help in saving an emergency patient. While Young Min is impressed with his good faith, he is also shocked and realizes that there is a possibility that Seung Tak might be seeing him.

Young Min finds out from the ghost patient that the accident he was involved in was also planned out by someone. Meanwhile, Seung Jo begs Seung Tak to do whatever it takes to save him.

Young Min is excited that he can save someone's life again. At the same time, Seung Tak asks Young Min what it's like to save a life all on your own.

The chairman reveals some secrets to Dr. Cha over a bottle of soju, including the fact that he is the one that sent Dr. Cha to Seattle. After it is revealed that the chairman has not woken up, the chairman's lawyer shows up to unveil a will (to be read later) and a dnr. Dr. Jang agrees to her fathers wishes and bids him farewell.

Chairman Go comes to the hospital. It is revealed that he has an old friendship with Tes. As we also learn, Tes is Dr. Oh's grandfather. We begin to learn more about the coma ghosts, including Bo-Mi, a phd candidate, that may have an infection, causing the coma. Seung-won begins to suspect Dr. Cha might really be possessing Seung Tak and sets up a surgical trap.

Dr. Cha admits that he is really in Go Seung Tak's body, but dares Seung -won to say something, revealing he has some incriminating knowledge as well. Go Seung Tak arranges a date between Dr. Jang and Dr. Cha to go to a Jessica concert.

Young Min feels helpless when the coordination with Seung Jo goes wrong during surgery. Knowing how frustrated Young Min is, Seung Tak look for other ways to save him.

Young Min loses his temper when Seung Tak tells Se Jin the truth about Young Min's presence. Se Jin ignores Seung Tak's nonsense, but she warns him to stay away from Young Min.

Seung Tak faces his worst nightmare and loses control when his surgery goes wrong. Just like that, he disappears. With Seung Tak gone, everyone at the hospital is worried. Young Min learns about Seung Tak's tragic past.

The link that connects the relationships among Young Min, Seung Tak, and Tes is finally revealed, and Young Min and Seung Tak now realize that they are meant to be partners.

Se Jin is now aware of the secret that Seung Tak has been keeping from everyone. With Se Jin added to the crew, they face a new problem regarding their fair share of time with Seung Tak's body.

Seung Tak and Young Min get ready for Young Min's surgery, but he looks like he has a lot on his mind. Either way, this is going to be their last surgery together as one.
