Elizabeth MacRae, who played girlfriends of Gomer Pyle and Festus Haggen on television and a woman who seduces Gene Hackman’s surveillance expert in The Conversation, has died. She was 88.
MacRae died Monday in Fayetteville, North Carolina, where she was raised, her family announced.
MacRae showed up as Lou-Ann Poovie on 15 episodes of the CBS comedy Gomer Pyle: Usmc during its final three seasons (1966-69). She was signed to work just one episode, “Love’s Old Sweet Song,” on the Jim Nabors starrer but impressed producers enough to stick around for more.
Earlier, she portrayed April Clomley, the girlfriend of deputy marshal Festus (Ken Curtis), on CBS’ Gunsmoke on four installments from 1962-64.
In The Conversation (1974), written and directed by Francis Ford Coppola, MacRae played Meredith, who dances with Hackman’s Harry Caul in his apartment, sleeps with him and then swipes one of his audiotapes. The actress was among...

During a Back to the Future panel in Philadelphia, Michael J. Fox fell while walking on the stage. After his name was announced he got onto the stage and bowed to his fellow cast members, Christopher Lloyd and Tom Wilson. While he walked over to his seat he tripped and fell onto the couch in front of him. Luckily, he was not injured and was able to continue the panel.
The three actors sat together and answered fans’ questions about the movies.
In the film franchise, Fox plays Marty McFly and wore Nike sneakers, black jeans, a white t-shirt, a jean jacket and a black baseball cap.
Lloyd, who plays Dr. Emmett “Doc” Brown, wore blue jeans, a black sweatshirt and a black puffer vest on top.
Wilson, who plays Biff Tannen, wore jeans and a blue blazer.

For a man who has, for the last 30 years or so, found his life defined largely by the fact that his body moves in unwanted and uncontrollable ways, I get the feeling that the last thing Michael J. Fox is actually wants is to be still.
Davis Guggenheim’s documentary biography is formed around a series of interviews with Fox, footage of his day to day life, and narration taken (as is much of the film’s structure) from his first autobiography, Lucky Man. Still strikes me as being about a man who has always wanted to control the way he and his life move. He played sports as a kid, he talks about how he relied on the mobility of his face and his body in order to do his work as an actor; his ability to control those subtle movements a key part of what he he did.

There was a point in the '80s and '90s where Michael J. Fox was on top of the world, reaching highs that few actors can ever say they've reached. Between "Back to the Future" becoming a global hit at the same time his hit series "Family Ties" was on the air, with "Teen Wolf" set to give him yet another box office smash as this was all going down, he was the star of the moment. That stardom extended well into the '90s. That is, until the actor's long battle with Parkinson's began, which pulled him away from the spotlight for the better part of three decades.
Fortunately, Fox is back with an uplifting, entertaining, and truly cinematic documentary called "Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie," which is due to arrive on Apple TV+ in May. I had the great fortune of catching the doc during this year's SXSW in Austin,...

Imani has a new look on Y&R. Pic credit CBS
What happened to Imani on The Young and the Restless? That’s a question being asked after a new actress has taken over the role of Amanda’s (Mishael Morgan) sister.
Leigh-Ann Rose originated the role of Imani in December 2019 when Amanda finally found her biological mother, Naya (Ptosha Storey).
The talented actress has been heating things up as Imani sets her sights on Nate (Sean Dominic), who’s dating Elena (Brytni Sarpy).
Since Imani has been making waves in Genoa City and the writers are clearly in the midst of a love triangle, it was a bit odd to see a new actress in the role.
There’s good news, though, for Imani fans.
Leigh-Ann isn’t gone for good.

Bill C. Davis, whose 1981 Broadway hit play Mass Appeal was adapted for a 1984 feature film starring Jack Lemmon and Željko Ivanek, died Feb. 26 following a brief illness, his family announced. He was 69.
Born in Ellenville, NY, and raised in the state’s Hudson Valley, Davis attended Catholic schools and, after graduating from Poughkeepsie’s Marist College, worked at a residential community for developmentally disabled and emotionally disturbed adults in Rhinebeck, NY. He wrote Mass Appeal, about the conflicting personalities of a stern, conservative priest and a younger, rebellious seminarian, during his time in Rhinebeck.
The play originally was produced Off Broadway in 1980 at the Manhattan Theatre Club, starring Milo O’Shea and Eric Roberts and directed by Geraldine Fitzgerald. Mass Appeal moved to Broadway the following year, with Michael O’Keefe taking over for Roberts.
The Broadway production earned Tony Award nominations for O’Shea and Fitzgerald.

Depending on how you feel about showmances on “Big Brother,” one of the good/bad things about an all-stars installment is that most of these houseguests are older (you can debate whether they’re “wiser”) and probably married with kids or in a long-standing relationship (sometimes with people they had met in the house), which means there’s less of a chance of a showmance blooming.
There hasn’t been one (yet) on Season 22 — though some are trying to make Da’Vonne Rogers and David Alexander a thing, but it’s fetch — but let’s look back at some of the most memorable showmances in “Big Brother” history, some of whom are still together.

Big Brother has been filled with drama since its inception 20 years ago.
Several people have won the grand prize, and while some may not have deserved it, they managed to scheme their way to the top spot.
With a second All-Stars season on the way, it's time to take a look back at some of the winners and where they are at today.
Eddie McGee (Season 1)
Big Brother was a very different game when it launched back in the year 2000.
McGee played a decent enough game and is the first-ever winner of the U.S. iteration.
In the years since his win, he has worked as an actor, with roles in The Human Race and God's Pocket.
Will Kirby (Season 2)
Will is one of the best players to ever enter the house. There's no doubt about that.
He subsequently returned to the game in Big Brother: All Stars, and finished in fourth place.

Now that Blair has been taken care of (at least for now), the Stitchers team gets back to work in this episode. A woman is found dead in her boyfriend's pool, and it's up to them to figure out what she was hiding and if the boyfriend's father was involved in her murder.
Also in "For Love or Money," Cameron realizes that he and Kirsten may need to have a talk (but that's not necessarily a bad thing for this new relationship), Camille meets the new Me working with the program, Linus wants to get closer to Ivy and, in her new position, Maggie has a decision to make at work. In other words, it's an episode filled with questions of trust and canoodling.

Premiere magazine highlighted 10 movie executives to watch in 1990. So what happened to them?
In its May 1990 issue, the sadly-missed Us version of Premiere magazine published an article, highlighting ten young movie executives, and suggesting that these were people with very big futures ahead of them in the industry.

Some estimates earlier this year put 2014’s projected box office in China at about 28B yuan, or around $4.49B. New takings cited by Wang Fenglin, VP of the Chinese Film Producer’s Association, are eyed at 30B yuan or $4.9B. That’s hardly anything to sneeze at, but would fall short of some other government projections which have previously pinpointed 30.7B yuan or $5B, a figure thought to be coveted by the powers that be in China where the film business is highly regulated. Still, according to official state news agency Xinhua, Wang told a gathering on Sunday that China is on track to overtake the U.S. to become the largest film market in the world within three years. Screens and revenue are growing at a rate of 30% annually.
In the first nine months of the year, local movies had 51.4% of the market, even though Transformers: Age Of Extinction is the No.

Udo Kier has worked with the likes of Lars Von Trier, Gus Van Sant, and Rob Zombie. He’s portrayed Dracula (and assorted other vamps), Hitler, and Jekyll and is still going strong after over three decades of acting, his latest role being in Nazis-on-the-moon horror-comedy Iron Sky.
Some would say it’s his piercing blue eyes and thick accent that cement Kier’s presence as deliciously memorable regardless of the size of the part. I would also say it's his unique presence, the way he moves with such elegance and a dash of old world, unearthly sexuality and a twinkle of humor.
This time around we find Kier on the dark side of the moon playing Nazi leader Wolfgang Kortzfleisch. The movie takes place in 2018, in a world with a political landscape much like our own, filled with propaganda, global infighting, and a race for new fuel. Little does...

In this celebrity-obsessed culture of ours, much of that obsession focuses on celebrity disdain. It's natural, I suppose, for the rank-and-file of the world to both exalt celebrity and root for a celebritastrophe -- why should they get millions of dollars and fame bleeding from their assholes for six weeks' worth of work while we toil away at our computers, banging away at spreadsheets and Power Point presentations?
The Charlie Sheen debacle is the perfect example: We're getting off on this man's downward spiral of crazy, and some of us even see it as karmic retribution for getting paid $2 million an episode to inflict "Two and a Half Men" on the world. What's little discussed, however, is Sheen's obvious mental deterioration, his addiction problems, his psychosis and delusions. He's six months from dead, and most of us are celebrating it. We're just too overjoyed by the spectacle of it to...

Spanish-language Univision beat all other networks last week in the 18-49 demo for the first time ever, the Los Angeles Times reports.
Univision also topped Fox and CW in viewers for the week.
While many networks have been in reruns over the summer, Univision has been airing original content, including its telenovelas "Soy Tu Dueña"("Woman of Steel") and "Hasta que el Dinero Nos Separe"("For Love or Money"). Viewers also flocked into a soccer match between Mexico and Ecuador.
