Despite being sentenced to 25 years to Life Imprisonment, Colin Thatcher was granted a special early parole in 2006 under the 'Faint Hope Clause' of the Criminal Code of Canada. Thatcher continues to assert his innocence, and published a book entitled 'Final Appeal: Anatomy of a Frame' in 2009. He was forced to relinquish all profits from his book to the Saskatchewan Ministry of Justice due to Canadian laws prohibiting convicted criminals from financially profiting from their crimes.
