After facing criticism for including 12-year-old Ryan Kiera Armstrong on their list of nominees, the Razzies have made yet another improvement to their parody awards program.
The Golden Raspberry Awards, a club known for honoring what they believe to be the worst movies and performances of the year, came under fire for placing the “Firestarter” actress in the Worst Actress category.

Armstrong’s name was taken from the ballot, Razzies creator John Wilson said in a statement, and he apologized. Under-18s will no longer be permitted to submit nominations for the awards, he added.
“We have never intended to bury anyone’s career. It is why our Redeemer Award was created. We all make mistakes, very much us included,” Wilson said.
The razzies are already mean-spirited & classless, but to nominate a kid is just repulsive & wrong.

Update:
Earlier this week, the Golden Razzie Awards announced their nominations for this year’s ceremony (of sorts). Among the nominees was 12-year-old Firestarter’s Ryan Kiera Armstrong for Worst Actress. The nomination hit the public domain hard, with cinephiles and general audiences chastising the Razzie organization for targeting a child to highlight misfires in the film industry. Today, the Razzies’ John Wilson responded to the controversy by saying, “Sometimes, you do things without thinking, Then you are called out for it. Then you get it. It’s why the Razzies were created in the first place.”
Wilson added that the negativity toward the nomination is “valid critisism.” He also clarified that Armstrong’s name is stricken from the final ballot and that the group is “adopting a Voting Guideline precluding any performer or film-maker under 18 years of age from being considered for our awards.”
You can read Wilson’s full statement below:

Leon Redbone showcased the music that led to rock and roll in the rock era and maintained his mystery throughout.
Cult singer Leon Redbone, best known for his Panama hat, dark sunglasses and Frank Zappa mustache and goatee, died on Thursday of causes as-yet unknown. The guitar-playing singer's age was officially announced as 127, but according to Variety, was 69.
“He departed our world with his guitar, his trusty companion Rover and a simple tip of his hat,” Redbone's family said in a statement. “He’s interested to see what Blind Blake, Emmett and Jelly Roll have been up to in his absence, and has plans for a rousing singalong number with Sári Barabás. An eternity of pouring through texts in the Library of Ashurbanipal will be a welcome repose, perhaps followed by a shot or two of whiskey with Lee Morse, and some long overdue discussions with his favorite Uncle,...

The story of the Dceu is nothing short of an incredible rollercoaster ride. With “Man of Steel” kicking things off with pretty good box office numbers, the Warner Bros. superhero franchise sunk pretty low with “Batman v. Superman” and “Suicide Squad”, but rebounded greatly with “Wonder Woman.” Then came “Justice League,” which not only bombed at the box office but also seemed to put the final nail in the Dceu coffin.

DC Films Universe 7 Signs It Is On The Right Track By Jeremius The Dceu, DC's answer to the Marvel Cinematic Universe has had a rocky start to say atleast. WB wanting it to start with Green Lantern which we all know what happened next. Then, Man Of Steel came out, marking the start to the Dceu. But it did go through it's share of critisism and controversy. The release of Batman V Superman didn't help the universe either. It was panned and didn't perform as expected. While it was loved by some, the movie didn't lay out the plans for the universe as well as it thought it would. With most of Superman's supporting characters dead and himself buried plus the psycho Batman who just kills whoever he sets his eyes upon. Zack Snyder's vision is a mess of darkness, comic inspiration and a not-so conherent plot. Suicide Squad...

There are two upcoming movie musicals that, for a long time, I've wanted to make into motion pictures, should someone with money be willing to give me the funds to make them -- Into The Woods and The Last 5 Years. I'm both nervous and excited to see how directors Rob Marshall and Richard Lagravenese, respectfully, have interpreted the material I hold so close to my heart. I am especially nervous for Into The Woods, given Marshall's less than impressive track record. If someone is going to screw up something I cherish, it should be me. Of course, there are far more than two musicals I have a deep connection to. Some have already been made into films, like Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street and Les Miserables, but there is a vast collection of musicals I have thought could make fantastic films, but have never been made.

Okay, so you may have to imagine Patina Miller’s Leading Player swiveling hips and the circus-trained ensemble dangling from ropes and jumping through hoops. But there’s no doubt you can still groove to the new recording of Broadway’s mega-acclaimed revival of Pippin, up for 10 Tony Awards at the June 9 ceremony on CBS.
The album will feature all of the Stephen Schwartz faves like “Magic to Do,” “No Time at All,” “Morning Glow,” and “On the Right Track,” as well as four “Sing Along with the Pippin Orchestra” tracks featuring a 700-person chorus as backup. Below, listen to...

Pippin has always been a musical where the theatricality and the score compensate for some obvious story issues. So, introducing a circus motif to tell the Pippin story, as Diane Paulus has done in her new, often dazzling revival, proves to be an inspired concept. The result is a musical loaded with treats; the first act soars with razzle-dazzle highlights; Act Two loses some of the momentum, but the love story that develops involving Pippin and the widow, Catherine, does charm. It all culminates in a finale that is properly grand. However muddled the line between the troupe of performers and the characters they play becomes, Pippin nevertheless entertains wonderfully, thanks to its staging and the popular Stephen Schwartz score.
Pippin was a huge hit when it premiered on Broadway in 1972 but has never been revived on Broadway. As directed by Bob Fosse, it was a triumph of imaginative staging,...

One of the most iconic child stars of yesteryear, Gary Coleman, passed away today at the age of 42. The Huffington Post has been following the story, which started late last night when news was released that the actor was in critical condition at a hospital near his Utah home with "a serious medical problem." Just an hour ago, an update stated that the serious medical problem was a brain hemorrhage, and after spending Thursday conscious and lucid in the hospital, Coleman lost consciousness and was put on life support, which he was taken off of this morning before passing away.
Of course, Coleman's fame lays squarely on television, stemming from his almost 10-year span as Arnold Jackson on Diff'rent Strokes. During the height of his popularity, however, he did star in cheesy comedies like 1981's On the Right Track, where he played a homeless shoeshine boy, and 1982's Jimmy the Kid,...

The man who won over our hearts as a little kid on the television show Diff’rent Strokes has passed away at the age of 42. Coleman was in the hospital since Thursday in critical condition after suffering from a brain hemorrhage which stemmed from a fall. Though conscious when he entered the hospital, Coleman’s condition worsened over the next 24 hours, eventually falling into a coma forcing doctors to put him on life support. Unfortunately, Coleman never woke up, and he was taken off life support a little while ago. Though most of his years were spent entertaining audiences on television (he was on Diff’rent Strokes for 10 years), Coleman did manage to pick up roles in a number of random films, including earlier stints in movies like On the Right Track and Jimmy the...
