The Arrangement (1969) is based upon the 1967 Elia Kazan novel of the same title. The novel is supposedly a half-autobiographical literary piece. Just like the the main character Evanegelos Topuzoglu in the novel(played by Kirk Douglas in the movie) Kazan is a Greek-American. Kazan was born Elias Kazanjoglou (lyas Kazancolu in Turkish) to a Greek family in the Ottoman city Kayseri. The father of the main character in the movie briefly mentions the first time he came to America.
