Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1 is now available on VOD. There’s no way around it – the film’s theatrical release was a huge disappointment, as it earned back only a fraction of its reported budget and has put the release of the second film in major jeopardy. However, now that it’s streaming, the hope is that people will be able to discover it at home, perhaps paving the way for this saga to continue. "Lost in Space" star and early television mainstay Mark Goddard has passed away, The Hollywood Reporter confirms. The actor who was best known for his role as pilot Major Don West in the seminal sci-fi series was 87 years old and is survived by his wife Evelyn Pezzulich, and his children, including producer Melissa Goddard.

Pezzulich announced Goddard's passing in a Facebook post (via Deadline), writing that the actor ultimately succumbed to lung disease that was not diagnosed until shortly before his death. "I'm so sorry to tell you that my wonderful husband passed away on October 10," Pezzulich shared. She continued: "Several days after celebrating his 87th birthday, he was hospitalized with pneumonia. We were hopeful when he was transferred to a rehabilitation center, but then doctors discovered he was in the final stages of pulmonary fibrosis for which there is no cure."

Mark Goddard, one of the stars of the classic 1960s CBS series “Lost in Space,” has died at the age of 87.

On Friday, the actor’s wife, Evelyn Pezzluich, said Goddard died on Tuesday after he was hospitalized with pneumonia. The post from Pezzluich was shared in a Facebook status by an account named “Lost In Space Remastered Blu-ray Disc Edition.”

“I’m so sorry to tell you that my wonderful husband passed away on October 10th. Several days after celebrating his 87th birthday, he was hospitalized with pneumonia,” Pezzluich’s message said. “We were hopeful when he was transferred to a rehabilitation center, but then doctors discovered he was in the final stages of pulmonary fibrosis for which there is no cure.

Goddard died Tuesday in Hingham, Massachusetts, his wife Evelyn Pezzulich told The Hollywood Reporter.

The actor's impressive TV career kicked off in 1959 on Johnny Ringo, appearing in 38 episodes over a year.

He followed that up with The Detectives, where he starred as Detective Sergeant Chris Ballard.

He appeared in 64 episodes between 1960-62.

Additional TV credits include The Rifleman, The Bill Dana Show, The Beverly Hillbillies, Gunsmoke, Perry Mason, The Fugitive, and Many Happy Returns over the next three years.

His big break came in Lost in Space, where he played Major Don West, the pilot of Jupiter 2.

He appeared in all three seasons of the CBS comedy.

Mark Goddard, known for playing Major Don West on the CBS series “Lost in Space,” died in Hingham, Mass. on Oct. 10 of pulmonary fibrosis. He was 87.

In statement posted to Facebook, Goddard’s wife, Evelyn Pezzulich, confirmed that the actor was hospitalized with pneumonia and then transferred to a rehabilitation center, where the doctors discovered he was in the final stages of pulmonary fibrosis.

Goddard’s “Lost in Space” costar Bill Mumy also confirmed his death in a Facebook statement: “R.I.P. to Mark Goddard. A truly beloved friend and brother to me for 59 years. I knew this was coming for the past few months. Shortly after a great phone chat he and I had on his 87th birthday in late July, I became aware that I would most likely never see or speak with him again. The last words we exchanged were ‘I love you.'”

Since he first appeared at age 12 in the wedding sequence of The Godfather, Nick Villelonga has appeared in 31 movies as an actor. Some of his roles included small parts in The Pope Of Greenwich Village, Prizzi’S Honor , and Goodfellas. His first script, Deadfall, co-written with director Christopher Coppola, was made into a feature film starring Nicolas Cage, Michael Biehn, and James Coburn in 1993. Nick then went on to write and direct independent films such as A Brilliant Disguise starring Lysette Anthony and The Corporate Ladder starring Ben Cross.

Now Nick Villelonga has directed the western Yellow Rock starring James Russo and Michael Biehn. It will be playing at the St. Louis International Film Festival on Friday, Nov 16th at 7:00pm at the Wildey Theatre and Sunday, Nov 18th at 4:15pm at the Hi-Pointe Theatre.

Television writer Stephen Lord has died. The Writers Guild announced today that Lord died May 5 in his home in Sherman Oaks, CA surrounded by his family. The writer, whose real name was Stephen Loyacano, was 85. In a career that went from the 1950’s to the early 1990’s, Lord worked on a wide variety of shows. His credits include CHiPs, Fantasy Island, Bonanza, Kung Fu, The Loretta Young Show, The Dick Powell Show, Matlock, Death Valley Days, Johnny Ringo, Zane Grey Theatre, Ironside, the original Outer Limits and T.J. Hooker. Lord also wrote several features including an adaptation of the Edgar Allen Poe short story classic The Fall of the House of Usher.
