The Heavily Reinforced Bottom

Seymour talks about the time running his school where he had a cook from the Ukraine. He could not pay her a living wage or else she would be getting more than him. Her food tasted like a railway station.

It gives Seymour an idea to build a canoe of his own with Wesley's help and get Compo in peak fitness.

Of course things do not go well, Compo sinks to the bottom in the first attempt as he goes through the fiberglass. Even the local pub would not have him in such a wet condition. Although Clegg remarks that Compo is not much better when he is dry.

On the second attempt, the boat has been reinforced heavily. Well that would float well then!

Seymour is not much of an inventor but his musings tend to be more interesting. For example he quips; If you want equality you will find death is a big fan of it.
