Happy Anniversary Gough and Jessie

Docile Gough has been married to Jessie for fifty years and they are still in love. Still holding hands which Ivy and Nora find is just a little too much.

Of course as Nora Batty observes, Jessie kept Gough out of bad company, made sure he did not go with his own kind, other men.

The happy couple arrive at a lavish golden anniversary party in a Rolls Royce. Compo is there in a loud blue suit that he has borrowed from Eli. Barry has had to buy a new suit for the occasion when he wanted to have a hi-fi.

The trio decide to give Gough some fun by taking him to the pub and show teetotal Gough the delights of booze. Gough likes the drink, the sensation of being drunk and then gets fond of Marina.

Veteran comedian Cardew Robinson plays Gough. It is a nice gentle episode, although I am surprised why Barry who wears a suit everyday in his job at the building society did not notice that one of them was tight fitting.
