On April 3rd FEARnet is set to unleash its brand new horror sitcom "Holliston" (review here) at 10:30 pm Est/9:30 pm Cst in the hopes of breaking new ground with the unusual project.

Bucking usual industry trends, "Holliston" will feature a longer-than-average running time, and the show's two stars aren't your usual suspects; they're horror filmmakers Adam Green and Joe Lynch, who promise to bring the funny and more with their groundbreaking show.

After spending most of the past decade cranking out awful horror remakes, it's reasonable to expect filmmakers to figure out what makes the original films such fan favorites. Yet, with one exception, studios keep mucking things up and the remake of Night of the Demons is no exception.

The film opens with a flashback to 1920's New Orleans, as a well dressed woman hangs herself off the balcony of the Broussard mansion, rather than be captured by a demon possessed gentleman. Perhaps hanging is too weak a term, as the rope appears to be woven out of piano wire and pops the poor lady's head clean off her shoulders. We've got to say that we have been really diggin' on what we've seen thus far for Steven R. Monroe's remake of the exploitation classic I Spit on Your Grave. Time for the official one-sheet for the flick to take center stage, and it is a beaut!

At this past weekend's Texas Frightmare Weekend, the good folks from Anchor Bay Entertainment were in attendance with a hefty horror haul in tow including the first ever teaser trailer for the Steven R. Monroe remake of the exploitation classic I Spit on Your Grave. Curious as to what you may have missed?

2001 Maniacs: Field of Screams will release in the United Kingdom July 05 and in North America a DVD launch is slated for July 20th. The film hosts an assortment of characters including Bill Moseley (The Graves), Lin Shaye (Killer Pad), Christa Campbell (Day of the Dead), Nivek Ogre (Repo! The Genetic Opera), Katy Marie Johnson (Nightfall), and Asa Hope. The film will be premiering in North America at the Texas Frightmare Weekend later this month and the film has been described as "a freakish, twisted vision" (Blogomatic). Directed by Steven R. Monroe, the new version tells the story of a city girl, played by Sarah Butler, who rents an isolated cabin in the country to write a novel. The victim of an assault and rape, she seeks vengeance on her attackers. Andrew Howard (Luster, Devil's Chair, Blood River), Chad Lindberg (Push), Daniel Franzese (Killer Pad, War of the Worlds), Rodney Eastman (Joey in A Nightmare on Elm Street 3 and 4), Sarah Butler, Jeff Branson, Saxon Sharbino and Amber Dawn Landrum all star. Looks like the "Woman" is about to have her "Day" again thanks to CinTel Films and Anchor Bay Entertainment. Yep, another remake is on the way and according to IMDb the cast is taking shape quite nicely.

Steven R. Monroe's remake (which is also being filmed as Day of the Woman) is lensing right now in Louisiana or release next year via Anchor Bay. The cast so far includes:

Being directed by Steven R. Monroe (Left in Darkness), a woman is abducted, brutally attacked and raped and then left for dead. She survives, hunts her attackers and dispatches them in graphic ways.

Taking on a web series may seem like a step back in a director’s career, but not for Robert Hall. He saw the opportunity to do something new and different with “Fear Clinic” and perhaps even change the game in terms of internet-based horror content.

“I know that there’s still a stigma that comes with doing a web series but I want to change that,” explained Hall. “I really feel like with “Fear Clinic” that we’re doing something special. I want this to be unique and for viewers to appreciate the work we’ve put into it just the same as if we were making a movie.”

“Fear Clinic” definitely has all the makings of a big-budget horror film. The series, which was created for FEARnet, boasts an impressive cast which includes genre icons Robert Englund, Kane Hodder, Danielle Harris, and Lisa Wilcox.

Roughly three years ago, this writer sat in a Los Angeles screening room and watch Crispin Glover play twin brothers and hurl pick-axes at teenagers. Sounds fun, right? Well, it wasn't and I wasn't surprised to hear Simon Says was having difficulties finding distribution. But it has. Over at Lionsgate Home Entertainment, to be more specific. The horror film by director William Dear ( Harry and the Hendersons ) debuts on DVD on June 23rd. A director commentary will be included.
